Thanks for looking at my truck. It has a good running original flathead with the extra duty factory options for the 4 speed on the floor transmission and rear end. One of the previous owners had made a custom rear bumper and hitch receiver for it to tow parade floats and it also has separate turn signals on it. It has also been upgraded to a 12volt system. Everything on the truck functions as it should aside from the fuel gauge and at some point it had an electric fuel pump and windshield wipers put in too. It pulls pretty strong for an old flat head but does lose some coolant at high speeds. The photos show some wear and tear on the truck, it has a little bondo and a few dents in the front fenders but they are an easy fix for a body guy or you can just drive it like it is. The truck has been driven around town and in a few local parades the past few years with no problems. Take a look at the pictures and feel free to ask any questions. 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost
Fri, 09 May 2014I'll be honest; when Ford first unveiled its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, I was skeptical. Past attempts at building turbocharged American cars were almost universally awful, I reasoned, so why would Ford's latest effort be any different? This may seem foolish today, considering the success that the growing EcoBoost range has achieved - particularly the 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter mills. Yet I once again found myself questioning Ford.
It's the makeup of the 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder slotted into the compact engine bay of this Fiesta that has a way of breeding doubt. Three-cylinder engines remain an extreme rarity in the US. What's more, they earned a less-than-desirable reputation for applications in the 1980s and 1990s, and my trepidation about this latest three-pot as a result.
As I found out, though, history is a poor informant of modern technology. The thrust available in other cars with the EcoBoost badge on the back has not gone missing here; something the International Engine of the Year committee has lauded. That august body named the 1.0-liter Ecoboost the best engine of 2012 and 2013. After a week of driving, it didn't take long for my fear of threes to get turned into something like that line of thinking.
Ford gets its Movement on, releases 'Sounds of Focus' tracks
Sun, 25 May 2014Ford has, for at least the second year in a row, teamed up with techno promoter Paxahau and a couple of artists to make music in recognition of the Detroit Movement music festival. This time, Movement performers Ataxia and Secrets were selected by Ford, and were invited to spend some time at the automaker's Michigan Assembly Plant, which gives birth to the Ford Focus and Focus Electric models.
Now that we know the what, how about the why? According to Ford, "Detroit is uniquely tied to the origins of the electronic music scene. In the 1980's variations of electronic music stemmed from inspirations of industry, including the automotive sector." So, there you go. Ford Fiesta ST GRC Racecar is hungry for podiums in 2013
Thu, 07 Feb 2013As we reported earlier, the Chicago showing of this plucky Ford Fiesta ST GRC racer points to bigger and brighter days for Global RallyCross. For the upcoming season, you can expect to see Ken Block and Tanner Foust both driving the Ford racecar, and if last season's results are any indication, you can anticipate quite a few podium appearances, as well.
The Fiesta seen here was built by the Swedes at OlsbergsMSE, and will be driven in anger by Foust in 2013. Modifications are, as you'd expect, extensive, and include an engine, exhaust and braking upgrades, a racing style short-throw shifter and a limited-slip differential. As you can see, the car has been fully stripped out and caged for maximum speed and safety, too.
