Up for sale is an original unmolested well maintained 1936 Ford 1 1/2 ton Flatbed stake truck, vehicle was one family owned until I brought it out of Wisconsin in 2007, thought I was going to use it to promote my business, plans however changed, I have had it stored in my garage ever since, story was it was bought brand new by Holt lumber company in Oconto Wisconsin, passed down to son and daughter who were children of co owners and also married, stayed with them until I bought it in 2007, I was told it was always stored inside, was in a warehouse when I went to pick it up, original 85 hp flatbed v-8 gasoline engine, 6 volt positive ground, good running engine, brakes are original manual non-hydraulic , truck was probably used for local lumber delivery until it was elevated to symbol of lumber company.

I put it on a flatbed tow truck and had it taken to the ferry in Green Bay, drove on the ferry, drove off in Ludington Mi. and drove it the 200 miles home to Williamston Mi., it has one cracked exhaust manifold, I did put a new fuel pump and fuel pump push rod on it, noticed the water pumps showing signs of leaking and the radiator might need recored, it could be a local driver then, gearing is too low for highway use as is. I have been going to Florida to work in the winter and am just too busy in the summer to do much with it, it also is in my garage that doesn't have much room to work on it, it wouldn't take much for a frame off restoration, the frame is already painted, the body is also in excellent shape with a very good paint job, no rust , the dash has spots of minor chipping and surface rust, original gauges and wooden floorboard, leather headliner could be replaced.
I only started the truck a couple times a year and just haven't done anything with it, needing a different house and could and might take truck with me but willing to sell if price is right, just trying to streamline a little bit, truck is way cool and a part of American history. Please ask any questions before bidding, truck is for sale locally and reserve the right to end auction early, you can schedule a time to see truck by calling 517-655-3788, I will start it but sorry you aren't taking it for a joy ride, I can also take more pictures upon request but it is in my garage and there is way too much stuff in there so picture angles are limited, I will have a reserve that is well below blue book and I am not sharing the reserve, if someone wants to make a reasonable offer after they have came and looked at it, I will entertain reasonable offers, $500.00 non-refundable deposit through PayPal at end of auction, if you are the winning bidder, I will expect the balance in cash within 7 days, no negative feedback bidders and if you have less than 5 positive feedback rating I will have to talk to you before I accept your bid, call 517-655-3788, serious inquiries only, if you don't have the money don't bid, if you have to sell something else first, sell it before you bid.
   Thank you and Good Luck

Major Alexa deal will bring Amazon services into more cars

Wed, Jan 9 2019

Amazon and its personal assistance service Alexa are partnering with HERE Technologies to create a new connected mobility service powerhouse. Alexa will integrate with HERE's navigation and location services to offer what the two companies are calling a "true voice-first-navigation experience." Alexa will come pre-integrated with HERE navigation on-demand, which the automakers can then enable, which should help cut down on development time. One of the biggest features from this partnership is how directions could be offered and delivered using HERE's Open Location Platform (OLP). Currently, the OLP uses data from several car manufacturers to provide insights into real-time location and traffic. But on Alexa, this could be used to provide directional context. For example, Alexa could say, "Turn right after [such-and-such a building]" rather than just, "Turn right." Amazon has been testing the automotive waters throughout the past decade. Its home-based Alexa-enabled devices are already offered with connections to several manufacturers. To various degrees of integration, it can already pair with Ford, Genesis, Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai and BMW vehicles. At the end of 2018, Amazon took things a step further when it introduced the Echo Auto, a Bluetooth-connected Alexa assistant device that can be physically kept in a car. Currently only available by invitation (its production and distribution have been delayed), the $25 device is essentially a voice service that works together with smartphones and connects to a car's speakers. Users can command it to do a variety of things, including playing music, setting navigation, opening the garage door, finding local stores, making calls, setting reminders, and thousands of other "skills." According to The Verge, nearly 1 million people have already ordered the device. Some (well, probably few) may know HERE Technologies from its maps on Windows Phones. We all know how that turned out, though. Today, HERE has expanded into a multi-function suite that is available in multiple mediums, including many automotive applications. HERE Automotive's connected vehicle services include real-time traffic, parking, weather, fuel prices, hazard warnings, traffic sign integration, and even EV charging stations. These all incorporate and extend the use of HERE's location and tracking programming. HERE is already partnered with BMW, Audi, Daimler, Intel, Mobileye, NVIDIA, and has investments from Bosch, Continental and Pioneer.

Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output

Mon, Jan 6 2014

How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.
