Up for sale is my own personal daily driver hot rod pickup.  This is a 1990 Ford Ranger that is in remarkable condition.  The story goes that the man I bought it from was the original owner, and was an aircraft engineer of some type.  His daughter wrecked her 1992 5.0 Mustang, and he ended up putting the drive train from the mustang in the Ranger.  This is NO HACK JOB.  It looks like it was installed from Ford, it just seems like it should have been that way all along.  Everything works- the AC, the cruise control, indicator lights, gauges measure correctly, everything.  This man simply knew what he was doing and made it work.  He drove the truck for a while, and decided that he liked it so well that in 1997 he bought a crate 5.0 from Ford, removed the 1992 motor and installed the crate engine.  The AOD (Automatic Overdrive transmission) was rebuilt at this time.  The odometer was reset to zero. It's had nothing but Mobile 1 from the time of the install.  It now has a little over 103K on it, and it runs and drives perfectly.  This is a nice truck.  It looks great, gets lots of  attention, sounds terrific (headers and flowmasters) and is a total blast to drive.  It's plenty quick, the suspension has been beefed up a bit so it handles the weight nicely.  It's just a great driving little rig.

The interior is just flat as perfect as you'd ever find on a truck of this age.  It looks near perfect.  The paint is very nice, and shines well as you can see.  Under the hood is well laid out, no hacked up anything.  Wheels are off the Mustang, and are 16x8.  Tires are decent, but not new.  This truck is light, and this motor is strong, so it's quick.  It has a tow hitch as shown in the photos.  The brakes were just  recently rebuilt and the normal maintenance stuff has been done in the last couple of months.  I drive this truck all the time, its a lot of fun.

The bed has a spray in bedliner, the truck has a nice wine tinted pinstripe with 5.0 badges from the Mustang.  Very classy, well laid out, professional, well built.  Totally reliable, no issues with the exception that the driver's door glass does not roll up and down as well as it should, and I just have not made the time to take the door apart to determine what's up with that.  It stays in the track, its just hard to roll up and down.

Find out if the Ford Fiesta ST can match Europe's latest hot hatches

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

The V8 grunt of the Mustang has defined Ford performance cars in the US for the last 50 years, but in Europe, the Blue Oval has nearly as a long history of building some of the best hot hatches on the market with the Fiesta, Escort and later the Focus. The latest Fiesta ST has just hit the roads on both sides of the pond and has been enthusiastically received thanks to its combination of a peppy, turbocharged engine and hatchback utility.
However, Europe is getting a bumper crop of hot hatches at the moment, including the forthcoming, third-generation Mini Cooper S. Should Ford have waited to launch the ST until it knew how the competition performed? That's the answer that Xcar is after in its latest video, and it took the Fiesta to the track and some very misty, Welsh roads to find out. Scroll down to find out whether the ST stacks up.

Winnebago re-introduces classic Brave RV [w/video]

Fri, Jun 6 2014

Winnebago is saying 'Let's do the time warp again,' using its new Brave RV to do it – have a look at the first Winnebago RV from 1966 and you'll know exactly where this one comes from. The modern version of this swinging sixties motorhome is accurate from its size, either 26- or 27-foot version, to its trademark eyebrow above the front windshield. The foldaway bunk above the front seats that necessitated the eyebrow design has been updated, and is now a power bed that descends from the ceiling. It is among a set of standard features that also includes a 19-foot motorized awning, leveling jacks at all four corners, heated mirrors, LED ceiling lights, two available floorplans and detailing like a workstation for the front passenger, a sliding dash cluster and and a waterfall countertop in the kitchen with built-in extensions. The Brave sits on a Ford F53 chassis complete with its Triton V10 engine and five-speed automatic transmission. No word yet on any potential diesel alternatives. Naturally, that 1966 price of $4,000 will also come in for an update, but the company hasn't yet revealed it. The good folks from Winnebago will be happy to take you on a thorough personal tour of the Brave in the video below. This content is hosted by a third party. Ringbrothers shows off Coyote-powered 1968 Mercury Cougar

Thu, Feb 25 2021

We'll openly admit that not every SEMA build is our cup of tea. But this? A tastefully resto-modded 1968 Mercury Cougar with a 460-horsepower Ford Mustang V8? Yeah, this is right in our wheelhouse. Sadly, there was no in-pwerson SEMA show in 2020, so we missed out on gems like this one. SEMA or no SEMA, the aftermarket carries on, and co-owners Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers (get it?) saw no reason to let their time and effort go to waste.  When they're not building wild customs (see: 1,100-horsepower 1972 AMC Javelin AMX) or more subtle showcases (such as this Cougar or their 1971 K5 Chevy Blazer build from 2018), the folks at Ringbrothers crank out factory reproduction parts, whether for old-fashioned restoration or modification purposes. While '60s muscle cars are recurring build subjects for the two, the Cougar was the first of its kind they tackled.  Keeping it in the family, Ringbrothers sourced a Ford 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 and a 10-Speed Automatic (lifted from an F-150 Raptor, incidentally) for the build. They didn't stop with the driveline, of course. The suspension was overhauled with a little help from DSE and a set of HRE Series C1 C103 Forged 3-Piece wheels were thrown over upgraded brakes.  "We put our heart into each car we build, and this Cougar is no exception," Jim said. "The finished product is mild and classy, yet any enthusiast instantly knows it's not stock. I imagine this is what Mercury designers would have come up with if they were building the Cougar today." "While we couldn't bring the car to the SEMA Show, we hope it can be shown to the public soon," Mike said. "We had never done a Cougar before, so this was a fun build. I love working with new shapes and coming up with new ideas." There's plenty to appreciate about this Cougar apart from the mechanicals, too. The finish is Augusta Green Metallic (courtesy of BASF), which was a factory color in 1968. You may know it by another name: Highland Green. There are a few custom exterior touches, but they're quite subtle and styled to be period-correct. The interior was also restored and updated, and it's where you'll find the only thing we're not fond of: that big, fat truck shifter. Gearbox choices notwithstanding, it's a bit of an eyesore. But considering how gorgeous the rest is, we'll give it a pass.  Related Video:
