1954 Ford Deluxe Panel Truck F100 on 2040-cars
Meridian, Idaho, United States
You are looking at a 1954 Ford Deluxe Panel Truck F100. As
you can see in the pictures, there is no motor or transmission. It has a motor
mount kit for a small block Ford 302 to 351, and the transmission mounts for a
C4 or C6. The body is very straight, but
not perfect. It was painted, but not put back together, so the paint is still
good on it. The rear lower panel needs a little work, but it’s not bad. If you didn’t
want the purple color, it would be an easy sand and paint. This truck has been
living in the garage, so the elements have not been a factor thus far for this
machine. This would be a very nice panel to finish. As you can see in the pictures, the panel is painted purple.
The grill and running boards are gray. The hood has been primered and is ready to paint. The floorboards are
excellent, with no rust. Looking underneath I could see some places that had
some rust repair. Underneath, the truck has been restored. The frame was sand
blasted and painted black as was the engine compartment. The brakes are all new
and the pedal is up. We installed a lowered 9-inch Ford rear end with all new
brakes. We installed a brand new Total Cost Involved (TCI) brake pedal with a
new master cylinder and power brake booster, with all new brake lines and
proportioning valve in line. It has a GM disc brake system in the front
(Corvette brakes) with new calipers and hoses. The front end has a 4-inch
dropped I-beam axle. Right now, it sits level with no motor or transmission,
but it will sit and look great once the weight is added. This truck has all the original gauge clusters, wiper
assembly and throttle assembly installed. It also has the original gas tank and
straps. The front and rear bumpers and the hood (with moldings) are all in
great shape. This truck needs new wiring, but the original wiring loom is
included. It is missing the rear tail
lights, hood moldings and front seat. The heater is missing. It needs new
glass, but I do have the old side door glasses and the rear door glass to make
a pattern. This panel truck has a new windshield rubber, and new rubbers for
the two small windows in the rear. It
has new door latches and rubbers installed in the front. This 1954 Ford Panel Delivery truck is an excellent
candidate for your next restoration project. You will be able to easily slide
in a motor and transmission of choice and be driving in short order. We are
selling this truck for a low reserve, so have fun bidding! Thanks for looking,

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.
NHTSA closes investigations into Ford Taurus, Hyundai Santa Fe
Wed, 03 Jul 2013Ford and Hyundai are out from under the scrutinizing eyes of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after the government agency said it was closing investigations against both automakers over vehicle safety concerns.
Ford was being investigated for reported damaged speed control cables on Ford Taurus (shown above) and Mercury Sable models, both built between 2000 and 2003. Vehicles with the company's Duratec engines allegedly failed to allow owners to brake as expected. Owners lodged 100 complaints and were involved in five accidents, according to NHTSA records. The American automaker responded to the reports, and on June 21 of this year, said that it would inspect and repair all affected vehicles, regardless of the mileage.
Hyundai was under investigation for a reported loose fastener on the steering shaft of its 2011 Santa Fe (shown in the gallery below). After NHTSA launched its inquiry, the Korean automaker responded with its own investigation that yielded four affected vehicles. Following the inspection of 680 vehicles at its assembly plant, Hyundai said the issue was due to employee error and that no further defects have been found.
Ford Announces Four Recalls, 1.4M Vehicles Affected
Thu, May 29 2014Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013. Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though. "Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software." The most recent generation of the Ford Explorer is suffering from a similar malady, thanks to an intermittent electrical connection (we think that means short circuit) in the steering column. Like the Escape and Mariner, manual steering would still be available in the event of a power failure. Ford will recall 195,527 examples of its Explorer, 177,500 of which are in the US. This recall covers model years 2011 to 2013. According to Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that Ford will inform owners of affected vehicles by July 25. Ford is also recalling 200,000 Taurus sedans, over a corrosion issue in the license plate lamp. This particular recall, which covers vehicles from model years 2010 to 2014, is limited to drivers in northern climes. Vehicle owners in southern states are free to pass on the recall. Finally, 82,576 Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ sedans from 2006 to 2011 are being recalled because of floormats that can interfere with the accelerator pedal. Dealers will replace the offensive floormats with newer examples. "Ford is committed to providing our customers with top quality vehicles. We are equally committed to addressing potential issues and responding quickly for our customers," Felker wrote.
