1950 Ford F-1 Truck Restored on 2040-cars

I have a 1950 Ford F-1 pickup that has been under restoration for about 5 years. The cab was removed and the chassis was sandblasted and treated with POR 15. All brakes have been redone and are power. Cab is rust free and was stripped and sealed and then painted with base coat / clear coat. Originally had a flathead engine but was replaced with a 351-Windsor and C-6 automatic transmission out of a Ford van with only 60K miles. It has a 8" Granada rearend and Granada front disc brakes. It has a Fatman rack and pinion steering system. It has later model Cadillac tilt-wheel and leather wrapped stering wheel. The original 6V system has been converted to 12V with some re-wiring taken place. All interior has been replaced with a new reproduction upholstery kit. All glass and rubber have been replaced with new parts. Has Ford Ranger 15" wheels with real good tires approximately 70%. Has original steel bumpers painted black. The front bumper has now been mounted on the truck. Overall the truck is "original" except for the drivetrain. All steel is original Ford parts including the running boards. The bed is original and the floor has been replaced with a piece of solid oak plywood grooved for the stanless steel strips. The plywood was stained and sealed although it got wet a couple of times and has now buckled in a few places. (see pics) New dual exhaust has been istalled from the manifolds to the rear bumer.
Overall the truck is in good running and driving condition and stops but could use some "tweaking." The transmission may need a stall converter since it jerks when shifting from R to N to D and spins the tires. This was a suggestion from a mechanic who said the heavy duty converter is too strong for the light bed of the truck. The front end will need alighnment since this has not been completed since adding the new front end. The only other issue remaining is to complete some wiring under the dash and to the instrument cluster.
I wanted to complete the restoration but due to family health issues I can no longer work on the truck. I will have a low reserve price much less than my investment. I hope someone can complete the restoration and will have a great old truck for a low investment.

On Apr-20-14 at 19:58:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I was looking at my picture after posting it look like the paint is not like it really is it is because of the pollen i shoukld have wash it again.also some relection seem to show up on the tailgate and behind the cab but it is reaaly near perfect. the truck is really much nicer than it appears.and that is really the opposite of what you really see. just thought i would let you know. |

Ford reflects on radical Mustang concept that never reached showrooms
Tue, 25 Jun 2013The Ford Mustang that we all know and love made major waves in the auto industry way back in 1964 by offering style and reasonable pricing with optional V8 power. Its long hood and short rear deck, combined with a low-slung and sporty cockpit, made a lasting impression in the minds of consumers and car designers alike, and its basic shape has so endured the test of time that it's still in use today.
This being the case, you may be interested to know that the first Mustang of 1964.5 wasn't actually the first Mustang at all, being preceded by a concept car that made its public debut in 1962. This concept was nothing like the car that would eventually make it into production, with a radical wedge shape and a small V4 engine sitting behind the car's two occupants, driving the rear wheels. In other words, the conceptual Mustang was pretty much the complete opposite of the production Mustang besides the name.
Ford has kindly decided go through its massive archive to bring the original Mustang concept back into the public eye. The company goes so far as to pose this question to fans of the pony car: "Should we borrow a few of these style elements for the next iteration of the Mustang?" Ford, Volvo, Google, Uber and Lyft form self-driving alliance
Tue, Apr 26 2016Five companies arguably leading the worldwide effort to develop autonomous cars said Tuesday they're forming an organization to lobby the federal government to better prepare America's roads for self-driving technology. The founding members include some of the biggest companies in the automotive, autonomous, and ride-sharing realms – Ford, Google, Lyft, Uber and Volvo. Operating as the "Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets," they aim to work with lawmakers and regulators to clarify a disparate set of rules and regulations at both the state and federal levels that could hinder the deployment of autonomous cars. "The U.S. risks losing its leading position due to the lack of federal guidelines for the testing and certification of autonomous vehicles." – Hakan Samuelsson David Strickland, a former administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who issued the first set of autonomous-related policies in that role (pictured below), will serve as the group's counsel and spokesperson. "The best path for this innovation is to have one clear set of federal standards, and the Coalition will work with policymakers to find the right solutions that will facilitate the deployment of self-driving vehicles," he said in a written statement. In January, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said his department would accelerate efforts to craft such federal standards. Those efforts include holding two public hearings on standards, the second of which is scheduled to be held Wednesday in Palo Alto, California. Foxx signaled the intent to deliver them by June. Google has been leading the efforts to ensure such standards are national in scope, warning their cars could run afoul of state-specific laws should they cross state borders or if standards varies between the federal efforts and regional ones. The complexity of such efforts was underscored recently, when NHTSA agreed that Google's software could be considered the driver of a vehicle for the purpose of meeting federal motor vehicle standards, an interpretation that would conflict with preliminary California rules that mandate a licensed driver operate a self-driving car that comes equipped with human controls like a steering wheel and brakes. At South By Southwest last month, Jennifer Haroon, Google's self-driving car business leader, said the company couldn't accomplish its goals under those regulations.
Ford recalls 2017 Lincoln Continental for headlight problem
Tue, Oct 11 2016Ford Motor Co. is already recalling the 2017 Lincoln Continental for a headlight problem, the automaker announced Tuesday. The HID headlights may have been assembled with LED lens that don't have the correct lens optics to meet federal visibility requirements for turn signals. Ford says it is unaware of any accidents related to the issue. The company will replace the headlamp assemblies, if needed. The safety compliance recall covers 1,876 Continentals built from June 14 to Sept. 23 at Ford's Flat Rock factory south of Detroit. Most of the cars are in the United States; 49 are in Canada, and one is in a federalized territory. Only about 300 cars are in consumers' hands, a spokesperson said. Customers can use a Lincoln service program where dealers will pick up their Continental, fix it for free, and return it, the spokesperson said. Lincoln has high hopes for the Continental. The flagship sedan uses one of Lincoln's most iconic names and features a luxurious interior, available 400-horsepower V6 engine, and safety features like adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera. Lincoln recently announced an elaborate marketing campaign shot by renown photographer Annie Leibovitz to generate interest in the Continental. In a separate recall, Ford also said Tuesday that 60 Edges from the 2015-16 model year are being recalled to update their antilock braking system module.
