This is a one of a kind rat rod custom truck. If you are looking for a stock pick up truck this is not anywhere near stock. It took me three years to build and the person who buys it or trades for it will be a person who likes to drive something cool and unusual. When I go to the hardware store, I have to account for an added thirty minutes for my trip because folks have a million questions and want to take pictures of it.
To start with, the running boards are made of a fiberglass surfboard that has a welded support frame underneath them. The windows are clear plastic that roll up and attach with industrial snaps. The tires are old school bias from decades ago. The steering wheel is out of a 1913 farm tractor and the whole interior is made from old burlap sacks and beer and whiskey labels.
Did I mention that there are dozens of stainless steel spike located on the body and front bumper? The motor is a late 80's 302 out of an F 150 and the seat is modified to allow a larger fellow like myself (6'2" / 280lbs) to drive comfortably. There is a four on the floor with a Hurst Competition shifter with a mind of its own in it. By that I mean that it hides reverse on me from time to time. New brakes, wiring, cooling system and ipod plug in stereo system.
The truck was featured in November 2012 Hot Rod Magazine and has won car show award. I have had two people who wanted it and they were planning to restore it back to stock. I do not want to turn it over to a person who wants to do that. I want a rat rodder to have it and continue adding custom stuff. The original rear end is in it and it is geared low, low enough to climb straight out of Hades. It is a putter, operating best in the top speed of 50 mph or so, not a freeway flier. One guy asked me if he could drive it to Las Vegas, I told him he could but I wouldn't want to do it.
Never overheats, does not use any oil to speak of and starts every time despite being a cold blooded son of a gun, once she warms up call her butter 'cause she is on a roll.

Ford builds Lightweight Concept with Fusion shell [w/video]
Wed, 04 Jun 2014It's a fairly well known fact that removing weight from a car is essentially a panacea for many of the modern automobiles problems. Does it handle like crap? Remove weight. Underpowered? Don't add power; trim the fat. Need to improve fuel economy? It's diet time.
Actually executing a major weight reduction program, though, much like with human beings, is no easy task. Unlike you or I, where motivation is the issue, the prohibitive measure in trimming a car's waistline is money. Lightweight materials are expensive, with carbon fiber and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic still primarily in the domain of higher end vehicles. Even aluminum construction, pioneered on a mass-produced level by Audi and Jaguar, is only now starting to make its way into the mainstream, thanks to the upcoming Ford F-150.
With this concept, though, Ford is attempting to show that a mass-produced, lightweight vehicle isn't too far off. This is the Lightweight Concept, and while it may look like a Fusion, it weighs as much as a Fiesta. For reference, the lightest Fusion available to the public is the 3,323-pound, 2.5-liter model with a manual transmission. A manually equipped, 1.6-liter Fiesta, meanwhile, is just 2,537 pounds.
Automakers donating money, vehicles and supplies to Oklahoma tornado relief effort
Fri, 24 May 2013Judging by the destruction the Oklahoma City area experienced earlier this week, residents are going to need a lot of help in coming months. Fortunately, a number of automakers - including General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Honda and Toyota - have stepped up to donate money, supplies and vehicles to aid in the recovery and rebuilding processes.
Here's a quick rundown of which automakers have pitched in and what each contributed so far:
Ford Motor Company has donating $250,000 and a Transit Connect to the American Red Cross, and it will match all other donations made to the Red Cross (up to $250,000) using a special URL tied to the latter's website (link here). Additionally, its local Oklahoma dealers have thrown in an extra $150,000 for the United Way and the automaker will be offering an extra $500 toward the purchase of a new Ford vehicle.
Lincoln electric SUV to use Ford-backed Rivian's 'skateboard' chassis
Wed, Nov 27 2019DETROIT — A battery-powered Lincoln SUV, due in mid-2022, will be the first Ford Motor Co. vehicle built on a custom electrified chassis that resembles a skateboard, which was developed by Ford-backed startup Rivian, according to several people familiar with the program. The all-wheel-drive Lincoln SUV could compete against Rivian's R1S, an electric sport utility vehicle slated to go into production in early 2021 that will be priced from $72,500. Both models will use Rivian's so-called skateboard, a flexible platform that combines electric motors, batteries, controls and suspension. On Tuesday, Ford declined to comment. Rivian did not respond to a request for comment. The new Lincoln, which carries the internal program code U787, also could compete with premium offerings from others, including General Motors Co <GM.N>, which plans to introduce at least two new electric SUVs by 2023, one for Cadillac and one that could revive the Hummer name, sources have said. Ford invested $500 million in Rivian this year and plans to help it begin production next year at a former Mitsubishi plant in Normal, Illinois. When Ford made the investment, it said it would use Rivian's skateboard to develop its own electric vehicle, but did not disclose details. It is not clear where Ford intends to build the Lincoln SUV, which will be among the first of several battery-powered utility vehicles planned for Ford's premium brand in North America and China, according to supplier sources familiar with those programs who asked not to be identified. Ford expects to introduce a compact Lincoln electric crossover in late 2021 or early 2022 and a mid-size companion in 2023, the sources said. The U.S. auto industry plans to invest billions of dollars over the next few years to build all-electric pickups and SUVs, sectors of the market that have been among the most profitable, especially for Detroit-based automakers. But analysts have questioned whether demand from consumers and commercial customers will come close to matching production. Founded in 2009, Rivian has raised $1.9 billion from investors, including e-commerce giant Amazon, which has ordered 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian. The first Amazon vans will be built in Normal and are to be delivered in 2021. Ford aims to sell an electric F-series pickup in late 2021, sources have said.
