1950 Ford F-1 Pickup with Clear Title. This Truck was customized some years ago. The restoration or resto-modification was started and about half way complete, when the owner passed away. The truck sat is storage for years and was recently completed. The Modifications consist of a modern V-8 Chevrolet Engine. The Engine is a 1960's model Chevrolet 283. It was refreshed with new internals, including Oil Pump and Timing Set and Seals and Gaskets. This is a low mileage engine and the Bore and Bearings were good, so it was not Bored or Turned. Everything inside is standard. The 283 has a Holley Manifold, Holley Valve Covers and Holley 4 Barrel Carburetor. The Engine also got an Accel Electronic Distributor and new Wires. The truck got a 5 Speed Manual Transmission from a 1990 Chevrolet Pickup. I believe this transmission is called an NV-3500. This gives the truck 5 gears and a Hydraulic Clutch. Along with the Transmission, the truck got a new Flywheel, Clutch and Throwout Bearing. A new Driveshaft was fabricated by a local Driveshaft and clutch shop. This was a little expensive, but so much better than hacking a couple of old driveshafts together. The Truck already had a later model Ford Differential, giving it a more street friendly set of gears. The Truck was changed over to 12 Volts and got a GM 1 Wire 90 Amp Alternator. There are also lots of other new parts including Starter and Fuel Pump. There is much more. The Truck now has Power Brakes with Discs in the front. Everything in the brake System was replaced, including Master Cylinder, Rear Wheel Cylinders, Shoes, Lines, Hoses and more. The Truck has Headers and Dual Exhaust that turns down near the center of the Bed. The Frame is very solid and is painted Black. The Body is solid with a little rust, here and there. The Cab has all new Glass and Window Seals. All of the Door Windows open and close properly. The Seat is a Vintage Ford Truck Seat that looks good with the Truck color. It was recovered some time in the 1960s or 1970s, but still looks good. The Seat is not perfect. It has some wear and tear from the years, but is just too cool to recover. The Truck has an Oldsmobile Tilt Steering Column and the High, Low Beam Lights, Turn Signals and Emergency Flashers all work through the Stock Column controls. The Gauges all work. The Fuel Gauge works properly. The Oil Pressure and Temperature Gauges seem to work backwards. I believe this to be because the truck was originally positive ground, but that is just a guess! The Speedometer was replaced with a tach. There is a power port installed on the dash. This is a good place to insert a power cord for your GPS. The GPS will give you an accurate speed reading. The truck also got a new Headliner and various other new parts from Dennis Carpenter. The Doors open and close well. I am posting pictures of the Cab Corners and Door Bottoms to show their condition. The Front Fenders are Fiberglass. The Hood, Grill and Center Section are Steel. There is a sheet of Steel, welded in the Bed. The Tail Gate is original and in good condition. The Tail Gate does need one Hinge to work properly. There is no Rear Bumper. The Wheels and Tires have only a few hundred miles on them. The Wheels are Chrome Reverse with Baby Moon Hub Caps and in good condition, not mint condition. They are all 15s, but the front Wheels and Tires are smaller than the backs. This gives the truck a lower look, in the front. The Truck has an attractive look with nice artwork on the door and a nice Patina effect. It is not a show truck, but a fun cruiser that gets plenty of attention. I tried to describe the truck well. I am sure I left out some things. I will try to answer any questions through email. I may be able to assist with delivery within a few hundred miles of Canton, Ohio. This Truck is being listed with a low start price and no reserve. It will sell to the highest bidder. Please look closely at the pictures. They are part of the listing.

Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.

Everything new at the 2019 New York International Auto Show

Wed, Apr 24 2019

Transcript: Welcome to the 2019 New York Auto Show. It's the last auto show, and so far it's my favorite of the year. We have a new buggy, compact pickup and trail ready SUV from Volkswagen. Ford brought the new Escape and a new Mustang performance variant, and we have a brand new Toyota Highlander and Subaru Outback. Let's go take a look around. We're here at the New York Auto Show with the Subaru stand. Normally the Subaru stand is just some white carpet and some show lighting. This year it's like we're in a national park. It's ... Frankly, I'm from Oregon. You're from Colorado. Yeah. It's making us feel at home. And in that way what better place and what better people to introduce this Subaru Outback which is pretty much the official car of Colorado and Oregon. Yeah. You actually have to buy a Subaru before they let you move to Colorado. Now instead of climbing up there and taking a look because we've been told we can't do that we're gonna go over there and check out another one. So the exterior, not that different. No. Looks exactly like an Outback. There's actually oddly a little more black plastic trim on the outside. A little too much for me. Right. It's interesting because it kind of slowly went away from that from the beginning because in the beginning the black plastic trim kind of made it an Outback, and now they're kind of bringing it back. I guess they needed to make it more macho. Right. Right. Now we're inside. Inside it looks pretty different. Swank. It's kind of swank for an Outback which has been pretty plain. Now this is the newly available vertically gigantic touch screen here. 11.6 inches. That is massive. This is how big it is when it's turned on ... just for the viewers. Now this is the onyx trim. So with that you get the black mirrors, the black wheels. This upholstery is special to the onyx, so it's gray and black and you also have this green stitching. Yeah, I like this accent stitching. It's kind of neat. Oh there's also a little tray there. Well this is a deep bin here. You can probably fit a phone. There we go. Almost. Yeah there are two USB ports. There's an additional two in the backseat. So this thing here you pop in the cup holder and it gives you a little more space or less space. These are really big, so if you have one of those Nalgene bottles I'm guessing it's going to fit in there. One of my complaints about my Subaru that I own now which is a naturally aspirated Crosstrek is that up in the mountains. It's slow?
