1940 ford pickup
this is a 1 ton model with factory 5 lug wheels. has the flathead 8 engine that the condition is unknown, possibly stuck? complete under the hood. has been sitting many years. has a 4 speed on the floor. has 2 original hubcaps on the front. all the wheels roll, both doors open and close and the windows roll down. the frame looks solid. the header panel is solid, its also solid around the front and the rear windows. floor pan looks good. does have some rust in the cab corners and the bottom of the doors. the fenders have some dents and rust. I don't have the grille. would need complete resto. this would make a cool rat rod or a resto project. very desirable pickup!!! I don't have a title it has been lost through the years. please ask any ?'s you may have before bidding and look at the pics to get an idea of the condition. and please be serious about following through with payment if the reserve has been met. again I don't have a title!!! and again this is a desirable and hard to come by 1940! |

European jury picks finalists for 2015 Car of the Year
Tue, Dec 16 2014There are countless Car of the Year awards handed out each year, and naturally, Europe has its own way of doing things. Every year, a panel of jurists representing seven publications in seven different languages and seven different countries get together to name their joint Car of the Year. The panel released a list of 32 candidates back in July, and it has now whittled that list down to seven nominees. The list consists of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the Citroen C4 Cactus (shown), the Ford Mondeo, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Nissan Qashqai, the Renault Twingo and the Volkswagen Passat. Of those seven, only two are available in the US – those being the Mondeo (sold Stateside as the Fusion) and the C-Class. The Passat is an entirely different model in North America, the Qashqai isn't offered here, Citroen and Renault don't even participate in our market and the BMW 2 Series is represented here only by the completely different coupe and convertible. Expect the one and only recipient of the 2015 Car of the Year award to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, and while you're waiting, you can place your guesses for the eventual winner in Comments. Ford to pay $17.35 million over Escape recall
Thu, 01 Aug 2013Ford had a bit of a recall spree around this time last year, with a pair of issues on the then-new 2013 Escape, followed by a recall of 423,000 2001 to 2004 Escapes because they might accelerate of their own accord. Accordingly, Uncle Sam pasted Ford with a $17.35 million fine because it took too long to inform customers, according to a report from Automotive News.
Ford agreed to settle with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, accepting the fine but not admitting fault. The recall, which afflicted Escapes with the 3.0-liter V-6 along with 217,000 Mazda Tributes from 2001 to 2006 and 2008, was due to faulty gas pedals that could stay down after a driver removed their foot.
Ford issued a statement regarding the fine, saying, "We take the safety of our customers seriously and continuously evaluate our processes for improvements. While we are confident in our current processes for quickly identifying and addressing potential vehicle issues, Ford agreed to this settlement to avoid a lengthy dispute with the government."
