Here we have a 1937 Ford Pickup on a homebuilt boxed frame - z'd rear end. It is powered by a 1971 Ford 302 out of a Torino with a 1974 Ford Mustang C4 transmission.  I have no title for the vehicle - most states don't require you to have one, just a bill of sale for such an old truck (It has a # stamped into the cab but MA is too tough to get a title from) - or just drive her as is - this is what I've done! I've replaced the intake manifold, put on a new Edlebrock 650cfm carb, new water pump with new hoses, new electronic ignition with new wires, new radiator, new lines, new push rods, new aluminum valve covers, new tires and a new aluminum spun 10gal gas tank. It has an ez wire fuse box (lines need to be tightened up) with running oil pressure, amps, and temp guages. New lights (brake, head), high beams and horn. I've taken the truck to where it it is but have no time and have lost interest. Will start up and run but needs to be 'dialed in' - drops out sometimes when I shift it into drive. Truck is fun and gets tons of interest at local cruise nights, but I need something for the entire family. I'll be happy to try and answer any questions you have but I've listed just about everything I know about the gal. She's a rat, she's fun, and she needs a little love to finish her. All the work on her has been done by me. Good luck bidding, she is as is, where is. Buyer must pick up - I will not be responsible for shipping. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24hours of auction end. I invite anyone who would like to check her out to set up an appointment to stop by - I will be available at request. Truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thank you!

2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?

Ford recalling nearly 24,000 Focus EV and C-Max models over door chime

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Ford will be voluntarily recalling 23,830 Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid and Energi models equipped with push-button ignition, according to The Detroit News. Why? Because the cars don't make a noise when the driver's door is open, and are therefore in violation of federal regulations. It's not as silly as Honda's badging recall that isn't a recall, but it's close.
Actually, that's not exactly fair. The chime is supposed to come on when the driver's door is open, as it reminds drivers not to leave their cars on or leave key fobs in the car, an easy thing to forget when the cars in question make virtually no noise at idle and do not require keys in ignitions.
The recall, which Ford is conducting voluntarily, covers 2012 and 2013 Focus Electric hatchbacks and 2013 C-Max Hybrid and Energi models. The overwhelming majority, around 22,900 units, were sold in the US, while the remaining 900 units are in Canada. How many of each model are covered in the recall is not immediately clear.

Is Tesla's next project an F-150 competitor? [w/poll]

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

What's the future look like for Tesla after it launches the Model X CUV and possibly a smaller, sub-Model S sedan? Would you believe a pickup truck? Yes, Tesla could be looking to use its EV know-how to take the fight to Ford and the F-150, based on comments made by company founder Elon Musk.
"If you're trying to replace the most gasoline miles driven, you have to look at what people are buying," Musk said during an impromptu Q&A session following a speech at Business Insider's Ignition conference. "[The F-150 is] the best selling car in America. If people are voting that's their car, then that's the car we have to deliver."
And while the idea of electric pickup may sound kind of absurd to some, Musk makes a very valid point - if Tesla's goal is to replace gas miles with electrical miles, it simply can't afford to ignore pickups.
