As you can see from the pictures, this pickup is in bare steel except for a few spots in black primer.  There is a thin skim of bond under the primer.  You can check the condition of the metal from the back side.  The pickup is all steel, the body and box are original; the hood and grill shell are after market, and the grill insert is original.  The box has been shortened and the dash has been customized.  The door latches and window regulators are in excellent condition.  It has an excellent windshield frame and excellent garnish moldings.  The front suspension is new from Speedway Motors, it has a 4 inch drop, disk brakes and new wishbones.  The rear suspension is a Ford 8 inch with triangulated 4 bar and coil overs from Pete and Jake.  The Frame is new with rails and boxing from American Stamping and cross members from Pete and Jake.  The radiator is a new all brass from Walker Radiator.  The engine is a low milage Ford 8BA flathead.  The tranny is a rebuilt Ford C 4 with a new Lokar shifter.  The wheels are new from Vintique with new tires.  I just installed the windshield glass and I plan to install the side and rear glass soon. You may contact me at  vandel@cableone.net  I would be glad to visit with anyone via email or phone about this pickup.  I have done all of the frame, drive trane and suspension work.  The sheet metal work was done by the prior owner.  It is licensed and insured and I have driven it several times.

Watch the Hennessey Ford GT makes its record run at Texas Mile

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

We said they'd probably be out with an official video, we did not lie. The Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT sat at one end of the runway at the Texas Mile sitting still. At the other end of the runway it had broken its own speed record, the twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8 pushing the aerodynamic supercar up to 267.6 miles per hour, a 4.3-mph improvement over the old mark.
There's not much in the video you haven't already seen, this just makes it official. That said, who doesn't want to see a twin-turbo Ford GT set an incredible speed record? You can watch it below.

Ford overlooks the Big Apple in the 2015 Mustang Convertible [w/video]

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Ford has done it again. Like in April of 1964, there is once again an all-new Mustang Convertible sitting on the observation deck of New York City's Empire State Building. This has been in the making for a little while, with the first report that Ford would recreate the sky-high publicity stunt coming out a few weeks back.
The process of getting the Mustang up there wasn't exactly easy. A Troy, MI-based company chopped up the new droptop, a necessary evil to get the Mustang on the Empire State Building's only freight elevator that runs to the 86th floor observation deck. But it was slightly more involved than just taking the car apart. The company, DST, built a mockup of the ESB's freight elevators, and then practiced its cuts on a second pre-production Mustang Convertible (measure twice, cut once).
The result of all this work are the images you see above. Yes, sitting in the crisp, morning air of midtown Manhattan, over 1,000 feet up, is this brilliant, Triple Yellow Mustang. Take a look up top for our gallery of images from today's event. You can also scroll down for videos and images of the process leading up to the ESB debut.

Motor Trend pits Subaru WRX vs. Ford Focus ST

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

The Ford Focus ST has enjoyed a relatively calm, if brief, reign in the world of hot hatches. With nothing else in the class (in the States, at least) but the aging Mazdaspeed3 and Subaru Impreza WRX and the slow-selling Volkswagen Golf R, the Blue Oval's 252-horsepower five door has been the go-to vehicle for those that don't need the high-octane lunacy (and expense) of the rally bred Subaru Impreza WRX STI and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.
Now, though, as the new Subaru WRX (it's not an Impreza anymore, though, neither is it a hatchback...) starts to arrive at dealers, the Focus ST appears to be under threat for the first time. Naturally, Motor Trend is here to figure out which one is the best, with another one of its Head 2 Head videos. Host Jonny Lieberman puts both cars through their paces, going above and beyond, quite literally, at the very end of the video.
Have a look below and let us know what you think of MT's verdict in Comments.
