Here is a rare opportunity to obtain and own a completely stock, unmolested '89 GT Mustang. This original vehicle is being offered for sale by the original owner.
I'm listing this car for my mother-in-law (retired professional business woman). She purchased this vehicle from Swanson Ford located in the town of Los Gatos, California. The actual date (as identified on the original paperwork), was September 7th, 1989. The original bill of sale, as well as the original window sticker is intact, complete and will be provided with the sale of the vehicle.
She has taken extremely good care of this vehicle. This vehicle has been professionally maintained since day one, and has always been parked in her garage when not in use. This was her daily driver until 1999. Subsequent to that time, the car has been her "back up vehicle."
As the window sticker states; the motor is the 5.0L EFI (electronic fuel injection), HO (high output), motor, and an automatic overdrive transmission. The vehicle does have the traction-lock axle, front disc brakes and a full instrumentation package.
This vehicle has never been in an accident. The title is clear. The drivers door was repainted several years ago (approximately 15) due to thieves breaking into the car.
The transmission was replaced some time ago while she was vacationing in New Mexico. Unsure as to what the actual mileage was at the time, but it was replaced at a Ford Dealership at the time and so it may show up under a car fax report.
As you can see by the pictures provided, this car is in extremely good shape and still wears the original paint which is still very presentable. The tires (mounted on original wheels) have very few miles on them.
The drivers seat was re-upholstered some time ago just due to the original fabric separating. The rest of the interior is still in great condition.
The 142,391 miles are original. This may seem high, but as I stated earlier, this vehicle has been professionally maintained it's entire life and still runs extremely well.
Simply due to the age of the vehicle, this car is being sold in "as is" condition. There are no "known" issues with this vehicle other than the power steering pump is making a little noise but still operates as it should.
Please look the pictures over closely and bid to buy!
This vehicle will not be sold or shipped outside of the U.S. The buyer will be responsible for ALL shipping costs. I will work with a transport agency only after the vehicle has been paid in full. Payment will be in the form of bank wire only. Sorry, there's just too many falsified checks and forgeries going on in this world!
Feel free to contact me (via email), leave your number and I will call you.
On Feb-10-13 at 18:27:40 PST, seller added the following information:
Sorry, I need to make a correction. I just received a call from my mother-in-law.
I need to correct that the drivers seat was not re-upholstered. I miss-understood her before, but she informed me it wasn't the seat upholstery, but rather the driver's seat tracks. The drivers seat is the original upholstery just as the rest of the interior.
At one point in time, the adjustment tracks needed repaired, or replaced. That item was corrected and the seat operates as it should.

Ford won't be releasing GT500 lap times for the 'Ring, or any other car
Wed, 27 Nov 2013Trucks have towing capacity, EVs have driving range and performance cars have Nürburgring lap times. What do all three have in common? They should all be taken with a grain of salt. Currently, there is no sanctioned way to record lap times or verify production-spec cars - a lesson we recently learned with the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo - and until there is a way to do so (and there probably never will be), we'll never officially know the actual time it took for Ford to lap the 'Ring with its ultra-powerful Shelby GT500.
After posting a Ford-made video of a 2013 GT500 running around the 'Ring, the guys over at SVTPerformance.com (an enthusiasts forum not affiliated with Ford or SVT) wanted more answers. They got in touch with Ford's Global Performance Vehicle Chief Engineer Jamal Hameedi, who said until there is a way to verify the times and inspect the cars, Ford will not get involved with lap-time wars. In the email, Hameedi pointed out that the 'Ring is a useful tool in that it allows a wide spectrum of track conditions, but until there is a governed way to record times, there is no way to accurately compare cars head-to-head.
And as much as some may not like it, Hameedi speaks the truth. It really isn't possible to compare times from one car to another, unless those cars were lapping the same track at the same time with the same driver. Not that any of this means there won't be continuous wars by fans and manufacturers alike... in other words, feel free to voice your opinions in the Comments below.
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
Suppliers love Toyota and Honda: Why that matters to you
Mon, May 15 2017You might think that a survey of automotive suppliers and their relationship with OEMs is the automotive equivalent of nerd prom. In some ways that's what the North American Automotive OEM-Supplier Working Relations Index (WRI) is. The study, the 17th annual conducted by Planning Perspectives Inc., is based on input from 652 salespeople from 108 Tier One suppliers, or, PPI points out, 40 of the top 50 automotive suppliers in North America. Suppliers to General Motors, Ford, FCA, Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. But the results have consequences in terms of tens of millions of dollars for OEMs - and in the quality, technology, and cost of the next vehicle you buy. There are a couple of ways to look at the results of the WRI. One is, "So what else is new?" And the other is, "Damn! How did that happen?" The study looks at five relationship areas — OEM Supplier Relationship; OEM Communication; OEM Help; OEM Hindrance; Supplier Profit Opportunity — within six purchasing areas — Body-in-White; Chassis; Electrical/Electronics; Exterior; Interior; Powertrain. In the overall rankings, Toyota is on top for the 15 th time in 17 years, with a score of 328. Honda, the only company to best Toyota (in 2009 and 2010), comes in second, at 319. Those two companies, explains John Henke, president of PPI, have collaborative working arrangements with colleagues and suppliers alike built into the very fabric of their cultures. This, however, is not a situation where one can readily conclude it is about "Japanese companies," because the third company with headquarters on the island of Honshu, Nissan, came in dead last. This is the "How did that happen?" portion. The Nissan score of 203 puts it 125 points behind Toyota. There hasn't been a number that low since the then-Chrysler Corp. scored 187 in 2010, when the company was clawing its way out of the recession. Clearly, the suppliers don't feel particularly engaged by the buyers at Nissan. Henke explains that whether a company does well or not on the WRI is rather simple. All people do things based on what they're measured on. "If you're measured on taking 10% out of your annual buy, you immediately know how to do it. But if you're also measured on improving relations, suddenly there is a new dynamic as to what you can do to achieve both.
