Up for auction is my 1927 Ford Model T Rat Rod. In all honesty i really hate to sell this car but i am just plain out of room and have another one of my cars coming home from paint soon so i am going to put a couple things up for sale this being one of them. This is not your typical pyle of junk thrown together rat rod, this is a very well thought out and quality built car that is actually registered and titled as what it is a 1927 Ford Model T. To Start of with the Chassis and roll cage were custom built by a well know fabrication shop in southern california that specializes in building baja race cars, trophy trucks, pre runners as well as full chassis drag cars The frame is made of 2' by 3" box tubing and the cage is 1 1/2" dom tubing. The body does have rust and dents but it is supposed to it's a rat rod,it could still stand to have some finish welding done on the chop or can be driven as is. The body is 100% original steel no fiberglass crap here! As far as running gear goes the engine is a 1969 429 Ford Cobra that is mild motor with hydraulic cam 10:1 compression a vintage offenhauser tunnel ram with new dual holley 500 cfm mechanical secondary carbs and a vintage Joe Hunt Magneto with mechanical tach, We recently sent the magneto out to Joe Hunt and had the internal all refurbished, custom built headers that have had rinehart motorcyle baffells installed. The Transmission is a C6 that has also been recently rebuilt and has kevlar clutch packs, the transmisson cooler lines were hand built out of cooper tubbing and are one solid line no unions in them to leak. the rear end is a 9" with 3.55 gears and a spool. It has alluminum 10 gallon fuel tank in the trunk as well as electric fuel pump with a aeromotive  fuel pressure regulator with fuel pressure guage. The battery is also located in the trunk as well. The rear wheels are real vinatage american racing wheels with hurst DOT approved drag tires.Up front is a set of Radir spindle mount wheels wraped with motorcycle tires, The front wheels also have previsions for disk brakes if you wanted to install them down the road. As it sits the car only has rear brakes but they provide plenty of stopping power for the car. Front suspension has 4" drilled dropped axle, the rear suspenion is 4 linked with coil over shocks.New aluminum radiator with electric fan. You can drive this car anywhere it always runs cool.It has a very nice reproduction '32 Ford grill in it.The headlights are 1940 chevy with original lenses and updated halogen bulbs in them. The interior was done by a local shop here in town using a real cow hide for the seat. The throttle pedal is an old offenhauser pedal, quick release steering wheel. This is without a doubt the funnest car i have ever owned. It's funny but this car actually gets more attention then my friends lamborghini. Please realize that this in no luxury car by any means, it does not have a heater or a/c, or heated seats! It also does not have seat belts or turn signals but i have driven the car over to the coast and back about 160 miles each way. Serious bidders only please! if you do not have the means to pay do not bid.

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.

Expert: 54.5 mpg CAFE standard can be reached without many plug-ins

Sat, Jan 18 2014

Johnson Controls executive Brian Kesseler isn't likely to get any holiday presents this year from Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn or Tesla Motors head Elon Musk, but lots of other folks might be happy with what he has to say about automakers' efforts to reach stricter fleetwide fuel-economy standards. Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress, Kesseler said automakers wouldn't need to sell an extensive number of plug-in vehicles in order to meet the 54.5 mile per gallon Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard the US government set in 2012 for 2025 model-year vehicles. In fact, he said, components such as stop-start engine technology, turbochargers and direct injection may actually do the trick. Already, things like smaller engine sizes and lighter cars are already playing major roles in spurring fuel-efficiency gains. Of course, Johnson Controls sells batteries specially built for stop-start systems, so Kesseler does have a bit of skin in this game. The 54.5-mpg CAFE standard equates to about a 40-mpg "real world" fuel-efficiency level. To put that into perspective, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said in a report late last year that model-year 2013 average fuel economy was an even 24 mpg. That was up from 23.6 mpg for the 2012 model year and 22.4 mpg for 2011. Former Cadillac boss Butler takes Ford tech job

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

When Don Butler made the surprising decision to leave his post as Cadillac's VP of global strategic development, it was a surprise. Citing a desire to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities" in that August announcement, it wasn't entirely clear where Butler - a virtual General Motors lifer after spending nearly 30 years with the company - would end up. Turns out he took a trip to Dearborn.
Butler has taken a position in the newly created position of Executive Director of Connected Vehicles and Services at Ford, where he'll be responsible for the Blue Oval's global connectivity strategy. "Not only does Don understand the connected car landscape, but probably just as important, he understands customer expectations," said Raj Nair, who, as Group Vice President of Global Product Development, is Butler's new boss. "Having a leader with technology experience both inside and outside the industry is a rare combination - we're excited to have Don join our team."
As Ford has received its fair share of flak for the sometimes recalcitrant MyFord Touch infotainment system and its Sync voice-controls, it appears that Butler has his work cut out for him.
