Lisbon, Iowa, United States

1926 roadster. This is a period correct jalopy racer using parts that were available around or before 1930. It is still all model T ford. Front has been lowered using model t wishbones bent into hairpin radius rods with the axle kicked forward. Rear has been z'd. Steering has been dropped and works nice. Smaller diameter early steering wheel for more leg room. Custom hand made leather straps using stock hood hooks and springs for tension. Custom built solid oak floorboards using stock hold downs and correct ship lap joints. A lot of new parts including, front wheel bearings, correct cloth covered wiring harnesses for the lights and ignition switch, spark plugs and wires, cutout for generator and battery. it is a stock six volt system. lights have new sockets, front and rear and all work as they should. It does have a brake light. Runs great and starts easy. Does leak a little oil. This car is a driver. I have been driving it quite a bit this year already. It is still a model t and drives like one so dont expect a new car. The tires have good tread but are showing some minor weather checking.  They all hold air and haven't given any problems. The body is not perfect, it has rust and dents but is all original ford steel. There are no patch panels or bondo. The paint doesn't look to be original but does look very old and has a lot of character and patina. It would be easy to restore the body with patch panels that are readily available but I personally would keep it as is. Frame and subframe are both good. Original running board tool box is in the trunk. Accessory clamp on spotlight with rear view mirror.  Brakes and transmission work well. Clean original title that matches the frame number. Please feel free to ask any questions. I can provide storage for a reasonable amount of time needed to arrange pick up or shipping. All shipping costs will be responsibility of the buyer. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auctions end. remaining balance due within 7 days.

Former Ford CEO Mulally won't run for president

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Alan Mulally will not be following his successful term as president and CEO of Ford Motor Company with a run at an even bigger presidency. Rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would make a run at the White House sprouted after his apparent dodging of a reporter's questions about a potential candidacy during a forum in Indianapolis.
"I really think it's important that we all pull together. We really need to pull together around a compelling vision for our country and a comprehensive strategy to do it and work together. We really need to do it," Mulally said at the conference, according to The Detroit News.
He's since clarified by saying, "[I'm] honored at the suggestion, but that is not a role I am considering."

White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

At present, over 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States today are equipped with event data recorders, more commonly known as black boxes. If the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets its way, that already high figure will swell to a full 100 percent in short order.
Such automotive black boxes have been in existence since the 1990s, and all current Ford, General Motors, Mazda and Toyota vehicles are so equipped. NHTSA has been attempting to make these data recorders mandatory for automakers, and according to The Detroit News, the White House Office of Management Budget has just finished reviewing the proposal, clearing the way. Now NHTSA is expected to draft new legislation to make the boxes a requirement.
One problem with current black boxes is that there's no set of standards for automakers to follow when creating what bits of data are recorded, and for how long or in what format it is stored. In other words, one automaker's box is probably not compatible with its competitors.

2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty is class-leading once again

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Time for everyone to feign surprise - Ford has just announced that it has the increased horsepower and torque levels of its 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 engine for 2015. As you'd expect, the Blue Oval is claiming class-leading figures of 440 hp (up from 400) and 860 pound-feet (up from 800), and that's enough to enable Ford's F-450 Super Duty model to tow as much as 31,200 pounds, which, again, the automaker claims is class leading.
Now, it should be noted that the max rating quoted above is achieved with the Ford F-450. The 2015 F-350, which is perhaps a better comparison to the Ram 3500 HD pickup that claimed the towing crown in 2013 at an even 30,000 pounds, is capped at 26,500 pounds, either with a gooseneck or when towing a fifth-wheel trailer. In any case, it's going to take a load the size of Godzilla to make any of the current crop of fullsize heavy-duty pickup trucks break into a sweat. For those keeping track, Chevy rates its 2015 Silverado HD at a maximum of 23,200 pounds.
Ford's newfound pulling power comes courtesy of a larger turbocharger for its in-house Power Stroke engine, new fuel injector tips and, we'd assume, retuned computer controls. Besides the engine enhancements, the F-350 gets a wider front track for 2015 and new front springs, while the F-450 gains commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tires, new rear U-joints, leaf springs, stabilizer bars and shocks. The steering and brake systems have also been upgraded.
