Up for bid is a meticulously maintained 1923 T-Bucket custom roadster. The fiberglass body is from Spirit Industries and the powder-coated frame has been stretched to 110”. The T-Bucket features a 351W engine and a 671 blower from the Blower Shop sitting on a custom made intake for this application. Just underneath the shotgun-style air intake sit two 600cfm Edelbrock carburetors. The engine is all billet and chrome and polished to a mirror finish; and while it hasn’t been on a dyno, horsepower calculates out to around 500. The vehicle weight without the driver is 2100lbs. The rest of the drive train is composed of a TCI C4 trans, built out to Stage II to handle the additional horsepower and torque; and a Winter’s polished Quick-Change rear end. Installed ratios are 2:99 and 4:75 (when gears are flipped).

The steering is made up of a Flaming River reversed Corvair gearbox and a Flaming River chrome steering column. The suspension is an all chrome Mr.Roadster with heavy duty Spirit radius rods. It has a 12V electrical system with updated wiring and fuse panel; with LED turn signals and tail lights. Dash gauges are all electric Stewart-Warner; all modern type to insure accuracy. The speedometer dial itself is an analog needle, but the inner-workings are digital and can be calibrated to match your tire size by resetting dip-switches on the back.

The interior is all custom, and all brand new. Two-tone blue to match the pin-striping on the car. Seats have been lowered to accommodate the chopped fiberglass roof. The roof has been upholstered to look like a convertible top, covered in Hartz-cloth.The sound system is a Secret Audio unit, concealed under the dash with an RF remote. This T sits on American Torque Thrust II, 15x14 rims wrapped with Hoosier 31x18.5 tires on the rear. The front rims are ET Gassers 15x4.5 with Michelin 145 SR15.

The pictured trailer is included with this auction. It is a "soda pop" style trailer with a sturdy hinged lid. I don't know the exact dimensions right now, but can provide them to anyone interested. A guess-timate would be the trailer is somewhere in the area of 8 cubic feet. The trailer is not completed as it still requires some modifications to the gooseneck/tongue to accommodate the ride height of the car.

This car is a multiple award winner. It has won the “Terrific T” class at Good Guys and the engine itself has been featured on the opening page of Good Guys monthly magazine from it's inaugural show in Joliet in 2007 (Mar 2008 issue). Most recently, this car was selected to participate in a pre-race event on track at the Chicagoland Motor Speedway before the Geico 400 last month. It has won “Best Motor” and “Best Ford in a Ford” honors almost anywhere it goes. It has been featured at the Chicago World of Wheels three times, winning top honors and returning this last year as a VIP invited exhibitor. If you want a well-built, full featured car that will turn heads everywhere you go, you can’t pass up this opportunity.

Ford pits The Stig against Gran Turismo 6 in Focus ST Goodwood run

Thu, 03 Jul 2014

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world great automotive gatherings. So, it was the perfect event for Ford to give the refreshed 2015 Focus ST its world debut in front of a loving public. It even surprised us with a new diesel-powered version, as well.
The Blue Oval really put its focus on making the ST a better driver for this refresh. It left its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder alone to still pump out a respectable 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The changes like a retuned front suspension, electric power steering and improved interior made the hot hatch an even better place to spend time behind the wheel.
To prove that the Focus ST is still as potent as ever, Ford set up a one-on-one race up the Goodwood Hill. But instead of putting the two cars side-by-side, former Stig from Top Gear UK, Ben Collins, piloted the real model up the course, and his rival drove the virtual version in Gran Turismo 6. The two hot hatches set off at the same time to see whether reality could beat the virtual world, and the finish was actually extremely close. Scroll down to watch the video and find out the winner of this battle at Goodwood.

This 2,000-hp Mustang is in serious need of wheelie bars

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

The Ford Mustang on the right is drag racing with the standard technique. The Mustang on the left, driven by David Measell, is using a new "rear bumper only" technique that evidently surprised everyone at the South Georgia Motorsports Park strip - including Measell.
Measell said his outfit just bought the car the week before the event, noting that it has more than 2,000 horsepower. Speaking of his "flying" run, Measell said, "We turned it up to dip on down," by which he meant they turned up the power in order to get his time down. Turns out all that power and all that traction sent the nose straight up into the air almost as soon as the race began.
He told an interviewer afterward that this was his first race in a "regular car" since he normally drives a pro-mod. "I like my wheelie bars," he concluded. You can see how he got there in the video below.

2015 Ford F-150 brings big aluminum to the Rust Belt [w/video]

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

Just when you thought you'd figured the fullsize truck market out, Ford goes and throws us a massive curve ball with the 2015 F-150. The big headline news aren't tow or payload ratings, though we're sure those figures will be fully competitive if not class leading, they haven't yet been announced. Instead, the big headline news Ford is highlighting are the truck's new aluminum-intensive structure and 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.
And with good reason - all that aluminum means that Ford was able to cut a massive 700 pounds from the truck's curb weight. That is going to cause all sorts of great things to happen to the 2015 F-150's driving dynamics, performance and fuel efficiency, not to mention its ability to haul heavy loads. For those customers worried about the strength of aluminum versus the more conventional steel, Ford is quick to point out that many military vehicles, such as the HMMWV and Bradley Fighting Vehicle, use a very similar sort of aluminum alloy in their construction.
It's also worth mentioning that the backbone, a fully boxed ladder frame, is hewn from high-strength steel. Ford says "2015 Ford F-150 is the strongest and most durable F-150 ever," for what it's worth, claiming that "torture tested" in labs and in the real world for more than 10 million miles. What's more, the truck, in disguised form, completed all 883 miles of the Baja 1000.
