Good old school Hot Rod. Very fun and well built car.  Runs and drives great.  It is titled in Iowa as a 1929 Street Rod, licensed, insured, and completely street legal.  I really like the car but way too many projects.  Here is the run down:

-FRESH Chevy small block 283 power pack. Has a good lope and great power.  Sounds mean with the Cherry Bomb glass packs.
-600 CFM Edelbrock Carb with Edelbrock intake
-Saginaw 3spd (syncro 1st gear), hydraulic throw-out bearing
-Custom aluminum radiator
-Dropped axle / reverse eye leaf spring / split 1937/41 bones for radius rods.  All OEM Ford.
-New kingpins and bushings
-New Wilwood dual master cylinders
-All new juice brake parts... front and rear drums, shoes, springs, wheel cylinders, hoses, lines
-9" Ford Rear End w/ 3.55:1 gears new wheel bearings (hair-pin type radius rods)
-Original Ford transverse rear spring
-Custom rebuilt drive-shaft

-Custom 14 Gal. aluminum fuel cell
-16" solid steel wheels 5.5/5 bolt pattern all around
-5.50 bfg www fronts
-6.00 bfg www rears

-LED teardrop taillights
-Stock Model A chassis (boxed) to the firewall, custom 2x3 chassis (Z'ed) beyond the firewall
-Chevy Vega steering box with straight pitman arm (steers great)

Blue Oval's new Cargo cab-over rig is largest "One Ford" initiative yet

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The imposing commercial truck above has a feature that might be surprising to most Autoblog readers - a Blue Oval emblem on the front. Here in North America, Ford simply doesn't play in the eighteen-wheeler sandbox, but that doesn't mean that the Dearborn-based automaker is absent in the heavy hauling space in other parts of the globe. In fact, Ford presently fields two completely different big rig ranges under the Cargo moniker - one a product of an Eastern Europe/Turkey joint venture, and another from Brazil. But that's about to start changing with the advent of this new cab-over model seen here.
Unveiled in São Paulo, Brazil, this new generation of Cargo is perhaps the largest physical embodiment of CEO Alan Mulally's "One Ford" global streamlining strategy. Instead of multiple models, company engineers have developed a new single truck that it says will better meet the needs of truckers in all markets. Designed to compete in what's known as the "extra heavy-duty segment" elsewhere in the world, this Cargo was developed jointly by Ford engineering teams in Brazil, Turkey and Europe.
Specifics remain hard to come by (read: unreleased), but Ford is promising an all-new engine enabling hauling capability of up to 56 tons while still returning excellent fuel economy. Ford's global Cargo lineup will henceforth consist of a dozen models, but Ford tells Autoblog has no plans to bring this hot and heavy-duty action to North America.

Ford supports bid for Detroit Rallycross race with Motown-minded Fiesta ST vid

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

As Ford continues its cheerleading effort to help bring the 2014 Summer X Games to its hometown of Detroit, MI, it has released footage of its 2014 Fiesta ST Rallycross car on location at some of the city's well-known landmarks. This video appears to have been shot around the same time as the previous X Games Detroit video was made, but it focuses 100-percent on rally car action.
With Ford Racing driver Andreas Eriksson behind the wheel, this Fiesta ST lays down some serious rubber atop Detroit's Cobo Hall parking structure, at Belle Isle and around the Michigan Central Depot. Detroit isn't alone in the bid for a three-year X Games contract as Chicago, Austin and Charlotte are also hoping to play host. The winning host city is expected to be announced this summer. Scroll down for Ford's two-minute video showing the Fiesta ST Rallycrossing through the Motor City.

Monsoon rains disrupt production for Ford, BMW in India

Wed, Dec 2 2015

Even modern production techniques can be stymied by Mother Nature. This was demonstrated most recently in India, as torrential, monsoon rains caused a deluge that forced multiple automakers to suspend production. Ford, Renault, and BMW all halted work at their Indian facilities around the southern city of Chennai, also known as Madras. The annual rains disrupted public transport around the city, preventing employees from making the trek into city's factories. According to Automotive News, Chennai saw 48 inches of precipitation last month alone, which is more than Seattle, WA saw in all of 2014. While Ford and BMW closed things down for all of December 1, Renault just cancelled a pair of shifts at its Chennai factory. This is the second time in the past month that automakers in southeast India have been forced to stop production due to severe flooding, and things aren't likely to improve. According to The Weather Channel, forecasts call for thunderstorms over five of the next seven days, while the chance of rain won't fall below 80 percent until December 8. Ford, Renault, and BMW are far from the only automakers that could stand to be impacted by the rains. The city has been nicknamed "The Detroit of India" for its extreme automotive presence. Daimler, Hindustan, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and Nissan all own factories in the region.
