Custom Built in 2011 as a replica and/or tribute woodie wagon. (Titled as 2011 Homemade)
Fiberglass fenders, front grill shell, and side curtains, metal hood section. Extended cowling for more leg room. Custom built wood body with steel reinforced corners and frame. Fabric Seats, front has bucket seats and back bench. Carpet with sound barrier materiel laid down first. Clam shell rear door opening. Model A Chrome door handles. Laminated glass all the way around. Electric windows. Electric wiper. Turn signals, dimmer switch for the head lights Polish steering column. Grant steering wheel. Dolphin Gauges with digital odometer. Heat and Defrost, NO A/C CD Player. 1995 Toyota Truck Chassis was used as a donor frame, motor and tranny. Motor is a 22R. The 2-valve SOHC 2.4 L (2,366 cc) 22R was produced from 1981 through 1997. Motor and tranny is stock, except for the Holly Carb. Manual Choke. Torch-en bar front end, new shocks. Steel wheels new tires. Use as your daily driver or a cruiser. 2015 Shelby GT bows in Scottsdale with 627 supercharged ponies
Mon, Jan 19 2015Between the base V6, the EcoBoost turbo four, the eight-cylinder GT, the monstrous GT350 and the new GT350R (to say nothing of transmission and convertible options), muscle-car enthusiasts have a staggering array of Mustangs to choose from. And now there's one more as Shelby American has introduced the new 2015 Shelby GT. Building off the success of the 2007 Shelby GT and the 2013 follow-up, the new 2015 model was just introduced at the Ford booth at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ. It's based on the latest Mustang GT (whether factory fresh or commissioned from an owner's existing pony car) but upgrades with an enviable list of enhancements from Ford Racing Performance Parts, Shelby's own upgrades and top-shelf third-party components. For starters, the engine is supercharged up to 627 horsepower (with over 700 available through further upgrades). It's got 3.73 gears, a Borla exhaust, WELD Racing wheels, Michelin tires and Wilwood six-piston front brakes. Visual enhancements include a carbon-fiber body-kit (including a two-piece rear diffuser) and billet aluminum front grilles. Designed from the get-go to be sold around the world, the 2015 Shelby GT is certified for use in all 50 states and comes with a Shelby American CSM number registered in the company's registry, but all those enhancements don't come cheap: Shelby's charging $39,995 for the new GT, and that's just for the modifications. Add that to the $32k sticker on a Mustang GT donor and you're looking at over $70k – which is not only more than Ford itself is expected to charge for its own GT350, but more than Dodge gets for a Challenger Hellcat. Shelby is now taking orders with delivery of cars planned for the beginning of the second quarter of 2015.
How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be
Fri, 20 Sep 2013Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.
