32 Ford Roadster on 2040-cars
Bethpage, New York, United States
Description: 1932 Ford Street Rod for sale. My dad built it in the early 1990s (probably 1992 or 1993), in Florida. (He was the car guy, and I learned some stuff from him, so these are the details that I know.) Has a 1970s-era Chevy 350 engine, special heads, and an automatic transmission (I know, I know... he chose automatic so my mom could drive it!). Dyno-tested at approx 325hp. I do know it has a special carburetor (not sure of brand), and I also have a spare carb and alternator too. Of course, the exterior is black. Look closely at the pinstriping down the side-- it's a copy of one of my father's EKG printouts from his doctor !! The interior is mauve and gray. The doors open by pressing on a switch under the dash on the driver's side. The hard top lifts off easily, after pulling out a few pins/cotterpins. Steering column and bucket seats are from a early '80s GM vehicle. Up until late 2012, the car was in Florida, and was babied by my father. I don't think it's ever been driven in rain (though it does have a small driver side wiper). I can tell you that it is an absolute BLAST to drive. Super fast. Can light the tires up without breaking a sweat! My dad did all the maintenance, but since I've had it, I've had my mechanic take care of it-- he's done the following: new plugs, battery, master cylinder and rear brake cylinders. Price: $27,500 negotiable |

Ford EcoBoost smashes records at Daytona
Thu, 10 Oct 2013Some mighty machines have lapped the banks of the Daytona International Speedway over the years: thunderous V8-powered stock cars, Le Mans-conquering Group C prototypes, open-wheel Champ Cars, knee-dragging superbikes... heck, the infield lake has even hosted powerboat racing. But this - this is the fastest car ever to lap the legendary raceway.
What you're looking at is the new Daytona Prototype being prepared by Riley Technologies for the new United SportsCar Championship. The car, released just last week, is powered by a new 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 from Ford's EcoBoost family, and just obliterated the top speed at the track with a blistering 222.971 miles per hour through the traps.
That's enough to annihilate the previous record that was set, also under Ford power, by Bill Elliott while placing his Thunderbird on pole for the 1987 Daytona 500 that he would go on to win. His 210.364 mph record had stood for 26 years until now.
Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.
2015 Ford Focus Sedan is fresh-faced and ready to defend its Most Popular crown
Wed, 09 Apr 2014Ford has made an art of deeper-than-normal midlife updates since the 2010 Fusion, a strategy that has allowed it to keep models looking fresher in showrooms for longer without needing full redesigns. Instead of slight touchups to light fixtures, new paint colors and perhaps new wheel patterns, Ford has been digging deeper, with significant sheetmetal changes and very different front-end looks, along with an increased emphasis on new in-car technologies to keep models vibrant. Other automakers are following this trend, and Ford itself is continuing on the path with this new 2015 Focus Sedan.
There's a handsome new SE Sport Package that includes a firmer touring suspension, modest body kit and 17-inch wheels.
We first saw this sleek Aston Martin-like nose fitted to a Focus at the Geneva Motor Show last month, but Ford only showed the new look on the five-door hatchback - this is the first appearance of the sedan, which will bow at next week's New York Auto Show. The front end treatment is the same, with a new hood, new headlamps incorporating LED accents, a different grille shape and a completely revised lower fascia that does away with the 2014 model's controversial triangle-shaped corners and gaping intakes. The rear gets a new two-piece, laser-brazed trunk lid with new taillamps, but the overall look is quite similar to last year's car. In any case, the refreshed look brings the Focus sedan more in line with the design of Ford's other recently reworked cars, including the Fusion and Fiesta.
