Up for sale is a 1931 Ford model A coupe.  The chassis is custom made from 2x3 steel tubing that houses the flathead ford backed with a 5 speed T5 transmission.  The front suspension is a Speedway Motors tubular drop with radius hairpin rods with a cross style leaf spring in the front.  The spindles are early ford with a late model disc brake conversion on them.  Steering is a F100 box and column.  The rear suspension is a Speedway Motors street rod 4 link with a panhard bar.  The rearend is a ford 8" with all stock internals with stock drum brakes on the back.  The rear does have some QA1 coil over shocks and springs.  The wheels are American Racing Salt Flat Specials with 165r15 fronts and some reproduction Hurst Pie crust slicks on the back, and the rears do have a DOT number on them to be legal.  The body has been chopped (roughly) 4 inches and channeled about 3 inches over the frame.  The internal structure of the body is 1x1" steel tube with the roof having a reproduction wood kit to hold the original style vinyl top in.  The front windshield is the only window in the car and it does still tilt outward into the cowl area.  The master cylinder is in the dash for a clean look also.  The gauges are Lincoln, some which work.  The flooring is cast aluminum sections from a firetruck that have been cut to fit, and the seat is some padding over wood and blankets stapled on.  There is also two aircraft style seatbelts.  All the lights work, headlights, running, brake, and turn signals.  The engine is a early flathead with a 12V alternator that looks like a generator.  The starter is also newer 12v.  The engine has a 4-71 blower on it with no rotors inside.  Two strombergs on top top off the engine with a set of lake style headers expelling the spent fumes.  Car runs great, very nice to cruise in and gets looks everywhere it goes.  The engine holds good oil pressure and runs extremely cool.  Car is available to be looked at in person in Greenwood, IN with an appointment as I am always traveling.  Please ask any questions before bidding.

Ford Fiesta ST orders off to strong start

Fri, 17 May 2013

We at Autoblog love the new little Ford Fiesta ST, and apparently, folks in Europe are pretty impressed with it, as well. According to Ford, the automaker's European arm has already logged 3,000 orders for the new hot hatch since it hit dealerships this March. The US-spec car, which will only be available as a five-door, will go on sale in the United States this summer.
What's perhaps most interesting about the Fiesta ST ordering is that the majority of customers appear to be ordering high-spec cars. According to Ford data, 60 percent of customers have opted for the leather interior with Recaro buckets, and 90 percent have selected the upgraded 17-inch wheels (seen on our test car, above). Spirit Blue has been the most popular color, commanding 27 percent of all orders. As for the technology upgrades, 19 percent of customers have ponied up for the Sony stereo with navigation.
To recap, the Fiesta ST is offered with Ford's 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, putting out 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission. We had an absolute blast flinging the hot Fiesta through the French Alps, and we can't wait for this sharp little hatch to make its way over to the States.

2013 Ford F-150 Limited

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

The Ford F-150 received yet another new model for the 2013 model year, the Limited trim, bringing the ways you can order this country's most popular vehicle to a grand total of 10. There really is an F-150 to suit any need now, and the Limited variant slots in at the very top of the range, above the already pampering Platinum model.
While normally I would admit that I'm the least-appropriate person to test a pickup, the fact that this particular trim places a much higher premium on luxury than anything with a bed and Blue Oval badge before it means that I don't need the workman chops of a skilled tradesman to judge how well this truck meets its true aim.

Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.
