‘50s Style Hot Rod

Up for sale is another great hot rod, brought to you by
Halberd Classics LLC, Antique & Exotic Automobile Brokerage.

The Ford Model A Hot Rod will always be one of the most iconic American cars.  The art of taking a prohibition era vehicle and making it into a fast driving, attention getting Hot Rod is just about as American as one can get.  If you have been looking for one of these blast to drive, hopped up on horsepower speed machines, this is the 1930 Ford Model A Hot Rod for you.

This great car was built in true 1950’s Hot-Rodding style and then given more horsepower.  The body is incredibly solid and is believed to be all Henry Ford Steel.  While this is a 4 door model, the outside rear door handles have been shaved.  This gives you easy access to the back and all the fun of the suicide doors, while appearing as a 2 door sedan.   The semi-gloss paint with flames and pin striping certainly takes you back to the beginning of the Hot Rod craze.  The rear tires are larger at 295/50r15 and the front tires are 205/65/15 giving the car the raked stance that you would expect to see.  The tires are mounted on chrome Crager 15” rims.

The interior has been redone in a 50’s hot rod/ rat rod style.  Adjustable front bucket seats were added and the rear seat redone.  The door panels and headliner are accented in bullet pin designs.  The front windows have been converted to electric.

Under the hood sits a Ford 302 V8 that has been built for speed.  The engine boasts dual wrapped headers and straight exhaust, 4 barrel carb, chrome dress-up kit and MSD ignition.  Pushing tons of horsepower, the motor is mounted to a 4 speed manual transmission.  The suspension was upgraded to provided better handling and disc brakes were installed in the front.  The combination makes this great American Hot Rod an absolute blast to drive.

Whether you are looking for a fun vehicle to cruise around town getting attention in, or simply looking to add an incredible vehicle to your collection; this 1930 Ford Model A Hot Rod is the perfect choice.

This is a 7 day auction with a fair reserve, so bid with confidence and bid to own.  The vehicle is for sale locally, so we reserve the right to end the auction early, before the reserve is broken. Please feel free to come inspect this awesome 1930 Ford Model A Hot Rod in person.

2015 Ford F-150 configurator is ready to go to work

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Ford is inching towards the on-sale date for the eagerly anticipated, aluminum F-150 pickup. While we're preparing to drive the new truck (expect our take on it sooner rather than later), the best-seller has reached another, albeit more minor, milestone as its online configurator has officially been switched on.
We took to Ford's consumer website to mess about with it and see just how ridiculous of a truck we can build. Among the fun things we discovered were these two nuggets - the most expensive truck we could configure was not the top-end Platinum model, but instead the King Ranch, which rang up at $65,955. The other exciting discovery? The new truck would be available in a questionable shade called Blue Jeans (shown above with the optional contrasting Caribou paint). Yep, Blue Jeans.
You can head over to Ford's consumer page and build your very own aluminum F-150 now. Take a look.

Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
Themes for previous EAA charity cars include the Blue Angels, SR-71 Blackbird and the Red Tails as well as the F-22 Raptor-inspired AV8R and AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll" models. Scroll down for the press release for the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, and be sure to check out our galleries for all six aviation-themed Mustangs.

1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.
