1930 Ford Model A 5 window coupe Pay attention people as this is a great opportunity for a real deal steel 5 window coupe that has had a professional chop done, roof filled and frame work completed. I am listing this for a good friend so here are the items I was made aware of: Frame has been boxed Hydraulic clutch and brake pedals and masters installed Front suspension has a chrome drilled super-bell axle with chrome hairpins and chrome shocks Steering by way of a Vega box with new components. Steering is nice and tight. Has a factory style GM colume. Rear suspension is a Chevy early 60's style rear that has been rebuilt with all new drum brake components. Even has new white wall tires and rears are studded snows! Think of the sparky burnouts! Body is all steel with no signs of ever having rust. Roof has been professionally filled and chopped. All garnish moldings also cut down and chromed. Fenders and running boards all very clean straight steel. Has steel floor pans and two different firewalls for your engine preference. Trunk lid appears to be new. Lid and doors open and shut properly. Hood is painted yellow with ghost flames and in really nice shape. Has an aluminum fuel cell perfectly fit to the trunk. Body is mounted to chassis properly and all loose items will be inside or attached for shipping. Car rolls easy. Also comes with new chrome bumpers and brackets. This is an excellent project, only selling as he has too many projects at this point and needs to focus on getting some things done. Don't miss this rare opportunity to get an extremely clean 5 window with all the right mods done as the foundation for your project. This is not a junky ratrod and reserve is reflective of this. Please bid what you are willing to pay and I promise it will be fun and a worth while purchase. Please feel free to ask questions if you need to. One thing I need to mention is being the body is on the frame I am unable to confirm the vin stamped on frame is a match. It does come with a title which I assume is correct I just needed to disclose this. Good luck everyone and happy bidding. On Feb-23-14 at 20:39:27 PST, seller added the following information: Hello and thank you all for the great response and questions. One of the main questions was the chop...it has been chopped 4". |

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
Ford's Mulally now said to be in lead for Microsoft CEO job
Sun, 29 Sep 2013There have been rumors that Ford CEO Alan Mulally could assume the top job over at Microsoft, whose CEO, Steve Ballmer, will retire within the year. Mulally hasn't come out and said that he's considering moving to Microsoft after (or before) his contract with Ford through 2014 ends, but sources in the know say he's the front-runner to become the tech giant's CEO and has opened up to the idea more in recent weeks, AllThingsD reports.
Mulally is no stranger to Washington, where Microsoft is located, having worked in the state for Seattle-based Boeing Commercial Airplanes as CEO years ago. He also recently was an adviser to Ballmer in an effort to realign the company's management structure to help it become more competitive in a fast-changing computer hardware and software market. And when Ford developed its Sync digital interface, it tapped Microsoft to provide the operating system, Microsoft Auto. Perhaps the least crucial connection - but nonetheless an important one - is that Mulally still owns a house in the Seattle area, and it's been said he wants to return there, according to AllThingsD.
A main challenge Microsoft's next CEO will face is how to manage the company's numerous, fractured operations and, eventually, streamline them. But even on this front, Mulally has experience; after all, it was he who ushered in an era of global Ford vehicles, after the automaker had become complacent developing and selling vehicles by region leading up to the economic recession of 2008-2009.
Mustang-themed pinball game debuting in Chicago [w/video]
Wed, 05 Feb 2014Believe it or not, but new pinball machines are still being made. Chicago-based Stern Pinball still makes them and has found a niche selling modern machines to individual buyers and arcade distributors. For its latest cabinet, Stern partnered with Ford to create a pinball game that pays homage to the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, including the next generation. The new machine is being unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6 and goes on sale in March.
Stern is offering the machine in three variants. The pro-level machine is meant for arcades and public spaces and retails for $4,995. All of them come with background and cabinet art by Camilo Pardo, who designed the Ford GT, and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is the game's announcer. Depending on where players shoot the ball, they activate events that simulate drag racing, rallying, drifting and racing the Mustang, and hitting targets lets players shift the gears up and down.
An upgraded, premium table with added art will be added later for pinball machine collectors. The third model is a signed, special edition with art of the 1965 Mustang and 2015 Mustang on the machine and chrome and Mustang badges on the speaker grilles. Prices for these editions will be announced later.
