This Model A Ford has been with the same family for over 52 years. Originally acquired and restored around 1963 in Long Beach California by a USN Captain who was stationed there. All work was performed by the Captain save for the paint that was contracted locally and the interior that was sewn South of the Border in Tijuana. The car was stored covered in a Southern California shed until 1992 when it was rediscovered by the son (he is pictured with the chassis) who had it transported to his residence in South Florida where it remained in storage until late 2013 when it was pulled out of storage and professionally revived.

Recent work to get the "A" back on the road was a $3500.00 investment, and included the following:

  • Ignition switch and key
  • rebuilt carburetor
  • New "Brassworks"  radiator
  • Water pipes and hoses
  • Green anti-freeze (corrosion protection)
  • New "Ford" motor meter
  • Distributor cap & rotor
  • Points & condenser
  • Transmission & rear axle fluid (600W)
  • Engine oil (50W with Zinc)
  • Accessory / air cleaner and downdraft pipe
  • 6V Battery and tender
Car is a great driver, always starts, engine sounds great and everything works.

Now, it's not perfect the paint is 50 years old and shows it in spots but, it's a solid and complete car that you could drive today or use as the basis for a restoration. Tires are still round, hold air and show some signs dry rot but are also 40-50 years old; they are 6.00-16

Historical documentation to accompany the car.

The car has a California "pink slip" but a current Florida title is being procured for purpose of the sale.
Assistance with Local, National, or International shipping is available.

Ford hiring 800 more salaried workers than originally expected

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is on a roll this year, with excellent quarterly earnings and better-than-expected vehicle sales leading to 800 more job opportunities with the Blue Oval. In January, Ford announced that it wanted to hire 2,200 salaried employees, but, since then, that figure has been revised to 3,000, representing a 36-percent increase over original projections. About 1,500 of those jobs remain, 80 percent of which are technical professional positions.
"Engineers and technical professionals are in as much demand as our cars, trucks and SUVs," says Felicia Fields, Ford Group Vice President for Human Resources. Helping to spur this job growth are increasing market share on both the West and East Coast and robust demand for the Ford Escape and F-150.
To find job candidates, Ford is reaching out to them via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, in addition to the company's corporate career site. The Blue Oval is also ramping up its presence on college campuses.

Watch this awesome R/C car chase scene made with cardboard and glue

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

It never ceases to amaze us how much video production talent you can find on YouTube, especially when considering movies like Battleship actually exist on the silver screen. It's even better, of course, when cars are involved, which is why we can't stop watching this car chase between a pair of radio controlled Ford Mustangs.
Racing through a detailed set built in the middle of a public street using just "cardboard, hot glue and spray paint," this video is possibly even greater than The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever that we saw last year. With the exception of a fruit stand and/or a plate-glass window being carried across the street, this has all the makings of a classic cliché chase scene.
Scroll down to watch the scaled-down action ensue as well as the full-scale conclusion.

Ford books $1.2B profit in second quarter on strength of trucks

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is rolling along nicely, with a positive second-quarter sales report and a $2.3 billion profit in North America. The Dearborn, Michigan-based manufacturer captured $1.2 billion globally from April to June, with a $177 million profit in Asia. Even in Europe, the land of doom and gloom for automakers not named Mazda, Ford saw some success as it lowered its expected full-year loss from $2 billion to $1.8 billion. The company lost $348 million in Europe during the second quarter, which, believe it or not, represents a $56-million improvement over 2012.
According to the report on CNBC, Ford enjoyed a three-percent increase in pre-market trading thanks to the news. The strong demand for the F-150 propelled growth in the US market, while Ford's 47-percent increase in Asian sales can be attributed to the new EcoSport crossover and Kuga (Ford Escape in the US) arriving in the somewhat fragile Chinese market.
Pre-tax profits for Ford are expected to be in the neighborhood of $8 billion by the end of the year, with sales the US, Europe, and China all looking up. The company also shifted $4.78 billion of asset-backed debt in the form of bonds, according to a report by Bloomberg. This move came amidst rumors of the Federal Reserve cutting back on its $85-billion-per-month bond purchases. Ford wasn't alone among automakers looking to sell off debt, though, as Mercedes-Benz and Nissan shifted around $1 billion each in bonds relating to auto loans.
