1929 Model A Special Coupe, Rumble Seat, Original, Nice Chrome, Runs Great on 2040-cars
Onley, Virginia, United States
This beautiful Historic Vehicle is road-ready. 1929 Ford Model A 2-door Special Coupe 49A. This is a rare automobile. Here's why . . . Henry Ford produced nearly 5,000,000 Model A’s,
but only 18,500 of this model, and only between July 1928 and July
1929. It is very difficult to find a Special Coupe, especially one
in such good condition as this. Don’t let this one slip away. She’s got an original 201-ci L-head engine and
3-speed transmission. It goes down the road straight, shifts
smoothly, and the 4-wheel mechanical brakes stop you just as Henry Ford
designed. Ford was once asked why he didn’t use the hydraulic brakes other
companies used. His reply, “If you have just one hydraulic leak, you
lose all your brakes. When have you ever seen all four brake rods
fail at the same time on one of my cars?” Smart move. Back
then hydraulics were pretty bad. This Special Coupe is graced with an older, excellent restoration in very good shape with a few little chips, crackling, and scratches as you would expect from a vehicle that has been enjoyed as it should be. Lots of thumbs-up wherever she goes. You can’t help but smile when you’re driving this sweet Model A coupe. The interior is in very good condition having
had a great restoration in the past and shows very well (see photos) with no
musty odors or smoke smells. It’s very clean and very well cared
for. The windows roll up and down with
ease. The windshield tilts out. The doors open and close
easily. The top is exceptionally tight with no tears. She’s in wonderful condition so you can use it right now and have a great time with the family! Or if you want, it is a great candidate for a Museum Quality Restoration, Advertising & Promotional use, a hot rod project, or a parade car. Put your friends or the kids in the rumble seat, tilt out the windshield, and go for a cruise to the drive-in or the local car show. If you’re looking for a very rare 1929 Ford
Model A Special Coupe, you won’t find a better example than this beauty –
especially at this price. The reserve is set low for the value of
this 85-year old automobile. A 1929 Special Coupe was listed recently
in Hemmings for $35,000. My reserve is set at less than half that. SOME DETAILS:

The biggest gas-guzzlers of 2024: 'The Meanest List' is the opposite of greenest cars
Thu, Mar 14 2024In some circles — especially some automotive circles — bigger is better. This explains the Hummer, for example. In its so-called “Meanest List” of a dozen models, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) makes no apologies for berating “the worst-performing mass market automobiles” sold in 2024 in the U.S. The most diminutive car on the list is a Chevy Corvette Z06. At the top of this particular heap is the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, a gas-powered SUV that the environmental agency says was “the worst-performing vehicle of the more than 1,200 models assessed by Greener Cars and has an annual fuel cost over $4,000.” Not to mention its MSRP of around $184,000. Rank Make & Model Powertrain Green Score MSRP Estimated Annual Fuel Cost* 1 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Gas 20 $184,000 $4,242 2 Ram 1500 TRX 4x4 Gas 22 $98,335 $3,819 3 Ford F150 Raptor R Gas 24 $79,975 $3,777 4 Cadillac Escalade V Gas 26 $152,295 $3,388 5 Dodge Durango SRT Gas 26 $74,995 $3,332 6 Jeep Wrangler 4dr 4X4 Gas 27 $35,895 $3,260 7 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4 Gas 28 $91,945 $3,058 8 Mercedes-Benz G550 Gas 28 $143,000 $3,186 9 GMC Hummer EV SUV EV 29 $98,845 $1,746 10 GMC Sierra Gas 29 $37,700 $3,069 11 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Gas 30 $114,395 $3,169 12 Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680 Gas 30 $234,300 $3,031 *ACEEE analysis using EIA data of the annual cost of driving 15,000 miles In terms of numbers, the dirty dozen of the meanest includes seven SUVs and three trucks. Lonely at the middle of the list is the sole electric, the GMC Hummer EV, which weighs in at 9,000 pounds. The council notes that “though EVs have lower emissions than similarly sized gasoline models, the Hummer demonstrates that size and efficiency, not just fuel source, are important factors in a carÂ’s environmental impact.” ItÂ’s also worth reminding prospective buyers that the average fuel cost of a vehicle on the “Greenest List” eats up only a fifth of the fuel cost of a vehicle on the Meanest List, “showing that greener options can also be more affordable.” The ACEEE also put out a "Greener List" of efficient gasoline and hybrid cars that don't require plugging in. By the Numbers Green Cadillac Chevrolet Dodge Ford GMC Hummer Jeep Maybach Mercedes-Benz RAM Emissions Fuel Efficiency Green Automakers Truck SUV Electric Hybrid
Ford will probably never offer two RS models at the same time
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Autocar has some sour news for fans of go-fast Ford products. According to Roelant de Waard, Ford's president of marketing in Europe, the automaker will probably never offer more than one RS performance model for sale at the same time. That statement runs contrary earlier rumblings that suggested Ford would launch its next-generation Focus RS in 2015 and follow the hatch with a spate of other vehicles with an RS badge. But de Waard has made it clear that Ford of Europe is now focused on squarely on the next Mustang, even though there may be more RS models on the way eventually.
"What is clear is that the RS shouldn't be a series, or a car badge that we have in our portfolio all the time. It is an extreme car - something more than ST," he said.
That philosophy makes plenty of sense. We loved the old Focus RS - shown above in RS500 trim - because it was generally bonkers and plenty exclusive. Diluting either aspect is sure to end in disappointment for everyone involved.
