1929 Ford Model A 4 Door “Murray” Town Sedan.  This car is beautiful.  See for yourself.  It is not perfect, however it garners attention everywhere it goes.  This car was completely frame off restored approximately 6 years ago.  Mileage is listed as 1000, however this is simply because eBay would not let me leave it blank or NA.  I have no idea how many miles are on the car, but I would estimate less than 1000.  It was driven for a couple of years then stored.  Since that time, it has been has been brought back to life.  Fuel system completely cleaned and rebuilt.  Engine removed and re-sealed.  Cooling system completely flushed and cleaned.  This car has fantastic detail.  The interior looks like new, complete with rear shades.  Seats show no sign of wear.  Carpet is like new.  All windows and doors work properly.  Bumpers are like new.  The undercarriage is as clean and detailed as the top of the car.  The engine is a touring engine, balanced and powerful (for a stock 1929 Model A engine).  The car drives very nice.  Transmission is tight and brakes are like new.  Exhaust is stock with the Model A muffler, and it sounds like a Model A should.  At idle you can retard the timing and hear each cylinder fire.  I have driven the car less than 200 miles.

The only issue with this car is the paint is showing some age (hurricane or whiskey bumps, depending on where you live).  See the pictures.  It still shines very nice, but there are some issues under the paint.  The black is fine and looks like it is new.  The green is where the issues are.  See the pictures.  This is not noticeable until you are very close to the car.  From just a few feet away it is hardly noticeable.  With proper paint, this would be a $30K+ ’29 Model A.  But then you would be afraid to drive it, thinking that someone would put a ding in it, or a rock chip or bug.  This car demands attention when going down the road and with the touring engine, you can enjoy driving it, and going on tours, it has plenty of power.   There is a $25K “Buy It Now” price on this car.  Reserve is slightly lower.  Inspections are welcomed.  If you are in the Houston area and would like to see the car in person, contact me (through eBay).

If you bid and win the car, this is a binding contract. Title is clear and immediately available. The vehicle is sold As-Is, Where-Is with no warranty implied and a clear title. I have represented the car to the best of my ability and knowledge.  A $500 non-refundable deposit through PayPal within 2 days of auction end is required for this transaction. The balance is payable in cash or with Certified Bank Funds within 7 days of auction end. Check must clear my bank. Title will be transferred upon receipt of funds. The buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements & cost.  Seller can deliver depending on agreed price between seller and buyer, ask for a quote.  We’ll be happy to store the car for a short period of time. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time as the car is for sale locally and this vehicle will not be sold overseas.

Ford idling Michigan Assembly Plant to trim Focus, C-Max supply

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

Ford will be putting the brakes on production at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI, idling production during the weeks of October 28 and December 16. Ford is citing the first drop in US sales in 27 months, a 4.2-percent dip in September, as the impetus for trimming their supplies, according to Automotive News.
Ford's deft management of its supplies has been part of its success over the years, and seeing supplies of Focus and C-Max, the two vehicles built at MAP, rise from 58 and 108 days, respectively, to 71 and 122 days over the span of a month was apparently all that was need to justify the trimming. As AN points out, the rule of thumb for many automakers is to maintain a 60-day supply of vehicles.
"Ford has been focused on keeping their pricing in check. Their operating margin is in double digits. Nobody else is there and they're obviously very proud of that," Alan Baum, an auto analyst with Baum & Associates told AN. Keeping the supply chain operating smoothly and not increasing supplies too much is crucial to that healthy profit margin. After all, a large supply lowers prices ,which, in turn, cuts profit. So while this news might not be great for employees at MAP, who now have an extra two weeks of vacation time, it's far from a sign of problems in Dearborn. Quite the opposite, actually.

Ford Mondeo classes up with premium Vignale trim

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

Back in the day, Vignale was a carrozzeria of the highest order, alongside the likes of Pininfarina, Bertone and Zagato. But like Giugiaro-ItalDesign and Ghia, it has since been subsumed into a larger auto group. Ford ended up with it under its umbrella when it took over De Tomaso, and has since used the moniker for a number of concept cars. Now the name is back in the form of a new upscale sub-brand for the European market.
The first new model to receive the Vignale treatment is the Mondeo, which Ford unveiled here at the Frankfurt Motor Show in both sedan and wagon forms. Positioned above the Titanium trim, the Vignale model gets such special touches as chrome trim and a quilted leather interior, Vignale badges replacing any mention of the Mondeo on which it's based. It also gains an ownership experience - including free car washes for life! - to befit the upscale positioning.
Under the bright spotlights above the show floor, the Nocciola metallic brown paint might not be the most photogenic, but will likely give the Vignale edition a more premium look when it hits European dealers and roads in 2015. Whether it'll be worth however much Ford asks for it, however, remains to be seen. Scroll down below for the official press release.

Next SVT Mustang may axe Shelby name, go naturally aspirated

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Following our first glimpse at the 2015 Ford Mustang out on the road, the fine folks at Road and Track have divulged some details on what the Blue Oval's next pony might have in store. We've already seen that the car will get some very sleek, Evos-inspired design cues, and an independent rear suspension is indeed in store. These new details, however, concern the muscle car's beating heart.
For starters, the base Ford coupe is expected to carry on with V6 power, likely from the same 3.7-liter unit found in today's car. From there, R&T says the next step up will be a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, likely displacing 2.3 liters, putting out as much as 350 horsepower. Of course, a Mustang wouldn't be a Mustang without V8 thrust, and R&T states that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will continue on into the 2015 car, making something like 450 horsepower.
But it's at the high end of the Mustang range where things will, reportedly, get very, very interesting. Road & Track claims that the top-shelf 'Stang will likely lose the supercharger from its engine, producing a metric crap-ton of naturally aspirated grunt instead. Additionally, the SVT-fettled Mustang will likely be dropping its Shelby moniker, in favor of "a name you're familiar with," according to the magazine (you know, like, Cobra).
