1929 Ford Model A Phaeton Very Cool Car for sale here with a great story behind it. This is an all original steel body and fenders that was purchased from an 88 yr old man back in 2003. He purchased the car in Nov. of 1954 and drove it home and parked it in his shed. The car sat there since as he started tearing it down to restore it. We have a lamenated copy of the title from when he purchased it where he never titled it in his name because he didnt wanna pay taxes on the car. Anyways the paint is the same color as it was when he purchased it. The fenders were took off and painted with a satin black. The car has a new interior, top and side curtains. New wiring harness from EZ wiring and new dolphin gauges as well. This car is very solid with no patch panels anywhere. It has very little rust and the little that it does have can be seen in the pics and the video that I made on the car. Chassis: The frame on the car has been fully boxed and painted with POR-15 Paint. It has a new superbell 4'' drop axle with a super glide spring, shocks and unisteer rack and pinion steering. Has 40's style brakes on the front and a Ford bronco rear end that has been 4-linked with QA1 coilovers. New tires all the way around even the spares on both sides are new. Here is a link for the video of a walk around on the car and the engine running. *https Engine: Has a 305 chevy engine with a 700R trans and a Lokar 23'' shifter. It has a New walker radiator as well. This has been my dads hot rod for a while now but we have to many projects sitting around and need to move on to some others. When it was built he wanted a 60's style hot rod look. This car runs and drives great and has been taken on several 3+ hour long trips to rod runs in TN etc. It has been a great car and has never let us down or left us stranded. We have calculated the fuel mileage on these trips and it gets 19.5 MPG. It cruises great down the interstate at 70 mph with no problems. This car isn't cut up anywhere. This car has a clean and clear NC title in my dads name. It is also being sold as is where is with no warranties written or implied. If anyone has any questions about the car we will be glad to answer them. I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. No trades we just want to sell the car. Detroit automakers gain market share simultaneously for first time in 20 years
Wed, 01 May 2013While monthly sales figures might be an easy way of tracking the progression of the auto industry and individual automakers, looking at market share might be more indicative of how each company is actually standing up against its competitors. For the Detroit Three automakers, they have collectively lost almost 30 percent of the market over the last 20 years, but now, for the first time since 1993, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have each posted market share gains at the same time.
According to Automotive News, Ford's share increased the most by 0.7 percent, GM was up 0.5 percent and Chrysler rose marginally by 0.2 percent, giving the Detroit automakers a total market share of 45.6 percent. As for the Japan's Big Three, the article reports that Toyota is up by 0.7 percent, Nissan is down the same amount and Honda has seen "little change."
New UAW boss Williams talks tough, vows 'no more concessions'
Sun, 08 Jun 2014Dennis Williams, the newly elected president of the UAW, had some tough words for American automakers in his inauguration speech at the 2014 UAW Convention, striking down the possibility of any additional concessions from the 400,000-strong union.
"No more concessions. We are tired of it. Enough is enough," Williams said during his speech. UAW employees have not received a raise in nearly 10 years, according to Reuters.
Considering the recent strong results for Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, the union's demands are likely to carry a bit more weight in next year's negotiations. And considering Williams' tough stance, we could be in for some fireworks once negotiations commence.
Ford, Volvo, Google, Uber and Lyft form self-driving alliance
Tue, Apr 26 2016Five companies arguably leading the worldwide effort to develop autonomous cars said Tuesday they're forming an organization to lobby the federal government to better prepare America's roads for self-driving technology. The founding members include some of the biggest companies in the automotive, autonomous, and ride-sharing realms – Ford, Google, Lyft, Uber and Volvo. Operating as the "Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets," they aim to work with lawmakers and regulators to clarify a disparate set of rules and regulations at both the state and federal levels that could hinder the deployment of autonomous cars. "The U.S. risks losing its leading position due to the lack of federal guidelines for the testing and certification of autonomous vehicles." – Hakan Samuelsson David Strickland, a former administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who issued the first set of autonomous-related policies in that role (pictured below), will serve as the group's counsel and spokesperson. "The best path for this innovation is to have one clear set of federal standards, and the Coalition will work with policymakers to find the right solutions that will facilitate the deployment of self-driving vehicles," he said in a written statement. In January, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said his department would accelerate efforts to craft such federal standards. Those efforts include holding two public hearings on standards, the second of which is scheduled to be held Wednesday in Palo Alto, California. Foxx signaled the intent to deliver them by June. Google has been leading the efforts to ensure such standards are national in scope, warning their cars could run afoul of state-specific laws should they cross state borders or if standards varies between the federal efforts and regional ones. The complexity of such efforts was underscored recently, when NHTSA agreed that Google's software could be considered the driver of a vehicle for the purpose of meeting federal motor vehicle standards, an interpretation that would conflict with preliminary California rules that mandate a licensed driver operate a self-driving car that comes equipped with human controls like a steering wheel and brakes. At South By Southwest last month, Jennifer Haroon, Google's self-driving car business leader, said the company couldn't accomplish its goals under those regulations.
