1929 Ford Model A Coupe: Traditional Hot Rod on 2040-cars

Year:1929 Mileage:99999
Location:

Fischer, Texas, United States

Fischer, Texas, United States

1929 Ford Model A Coupe: Great old school hot rod. 305 sbc with a mild cam, Edlebrock alum intake and 600 cfm carb, 350 AT, Camaro rear end with drum brakes, dropped front axle with disc brakes. Hairpin suspension front and rear; crossover springs and shocks in front with coil-over shocks in the rear. New starter and alternator (within the past year), new window regulators, new top wood and top and new driver's door latch. Parts of the top are framed using 1 x1 tubing.

I drive this car a LOT and it's been very dependable. Well-built car with a full TS frame and Vega steering. Car runs great, drives well and is comfortable to drive once you get used to it. Not particularly quick but, it'll run as fast as you have the nerve to stay in it. REALLY likes to run at hi-way speeds. Steering is very responsive and car is very stable in turns. No unusual tire wear. Fuel tank is a 10 gallon poly tank. Car seems to get around 20-22 MPG. Only gauges are a tach, oil pressure and water temperature. Oil pressure is always strong and the car never gets over 175-180 degrees even in the middle of summer. All glass is in the car and good. One quarter glass has two cracks and the windshield has a chip but, I think they add character to the car. The seat is from a Suzuki Samurai and tilts forward providing some storage inside the car. There is a package tray in the rear that could easily be modified to provide more leg room, if desired. I'm just under 6'-0'' tall and fit comfortably. My son, who is 6'-3'', has a little more trouble driving it. Body is all original steel, never cut, pretty straight and better than most. No rust-through. The only issue you'll have to watch for is that the top will leak if left in the rain. Clear Texas title (as a 29 Ford) in my name.

All in all, this car has been absolutely dependable. Its a great, fun car to drive.

Cadillac Escalade gets $5,000 discount to ward off Lincoln Navigator

Wed, Nov 8 2017

General Motors apparently isn't going to let early good reception for the redesigned Lincoln Navigator steal thunder from its own luxury SUV without a fight. It's offering a $5,000 discount on the purchase or lease of the Cadillac Escalade this month to any buyer who trades in a 1999 or newer Lincoln model, Bloomberg reports. GM spokesman Jim Cain told Bloomberg the incentive is being offered to keep prices competitive for the Escalade. The 2018 Navigator starts at $72,055, compared to $73,995 for the Escalade, but the outgoing version of the Navigator is selling for an average of around $53,000, compared with more than $80,000 on average for the Escalade, he said. The Escalade was the top-selling domestic luxury SUV in October and No. 4 in the segment, according to Motor Intelligence. It far outsold the Navigator, which last saw a refresh in 2015 and a full redesign in 2007. But Ford is hoping to gain back some ground with the new Navigator and updated Expedition, which also trails the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevy Suburban in its segment. Bloomberg notes that one Morgan Stanley analyst estimates that GM owns a $2 billion annual pretax profit edge in the lucrative luxury sport utility segment. Our recent First Drive review called the new Navigator "far superior to its primary competitor, the Cadillac Escalade."Related Video:

Ford Mustang to get four-cylinder in Europe, but not US

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Fans of the Ford Mustang SVO, which was produced from 1884 through 1986 with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine and a manual transmission, may be interested to know that Ford is reportedly going to introduce something similar for 2015. But don't get too excited if you live in the US, as Edmunds reports that the vehicle will be offered in Europe only. Boo!
According to the report, Ford will put a version of its EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder into the engine bay of the Mustang. The engine would be enlarged from its current 2.0 liters to 2.3 liters, taking horsepower from 252 to around 300. The well-known 5.0 V8 engine will also be available in Europe.
"The Mustang is uniquely Ford and has a huge fan base here in Europe. Now those fans have something to look forward to and we look forward to providing more details in the near future," says Ford of Europe CEO Stephen Odell. That's great... but why not offer buyers in the States the (likely) fuel-efficient turbo option, too?

Ford to add Android Auto and CarPlay to 2016 SYNC 3 cars via update

Fri, May 19 2017

Ford is updating a large number of 2016 model year cars equipped with SYNC 3 infotainment software, adding Android Auto and CarPlay to the vehicles with a free, over-the-air update via Wi-Fi, or using either USB or going through their dealer. The upgrade will be available for around 800,000 vehicles in total, giving a huge number of Ford car owners the chance to get big infotainment improvements without having to buy a newer model car. The OTA update option is also a big step for Ford – it's the company's first for software ever, and it's one of the major reasons that Ford recently hired around 400 new mobile smartphone engineers, the company tells me. For CarPlay, users will still also need to upgrade their vehicle's USB hub to make this work (which will also incur a dealer visit and a cost), but for those on Android, all that's required is a simple software installation. The USB install method is also faster, but the Wi-Fi update option is the start of the company's efforts to really increase its OTA update program, which will be used for security improvements as well as infotainment bumps. Even with a dealer visit and hardware upgrade for CarPlay, this sounds like a worthwhile thing for 2016 vehicle owners to do. CarPlay and Android Auto are huge upgrades vs. most in-car software, offering navigation and entertainment options that follow you from your phone to your car. Retroactively offering this kind of thing to car owners is a definite change in tone for carmakers, since they typically use these kinds of things as incentives to get people interested in vehicle model updates. But as data becomes increasingly important to automakers as a business, it makes sense to encourage greater in-car use of devices.Written by Darrell Etherington for TechCrunchRelated Video: Auto News Ford Lincoln Technology Infotainment android
