1929 Ford 2 Door Tub, Street Rod, Convertible on 2040-cars
Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States
This is a very solid, with steel body and fenders in very good condition. The owner had removed the roof from this two door sedan, to make it a TUB, street rod. The roof is available, should you wish to make it back to a sedan, which I doubt, when you see the craftsman ship involved. This was done 20 years ago and left in his pole barn, along with installing a Jasper 350 SBC, turbo 350 and a GM 10 bolt rear end. It also had a Mustang 11 front suspension installed and a tilt wheel. The interior has bucket seats, rear seat, floor shift and is sanitary and in very usable condition. You will notice wood parts, in place of sheet metal. This is also done with a great deal of craftsman ship and fits very well. Over the years, it has picked a good share of chips and scratches, moving it towards the rat rod category.
The owner, who had moved to Arizona, contacted me and asked if I would be interested in putting this disassembled street rod together and getting it running, as he had sold the property. I agreed and after doing all that is required in waking up and assembling a 20 year storage car, it now runs, moves, stops, with working lights and gauges. At this point it is not streetable, needing attention to the brakes and the 20 plus year old tires. It is capable of driving onto a trailer. During the assembly, I noticed the need for three hood hold downs, as I could find only one. It has six aluminum E/T wheels, with big and little's on the car, and they hold air. I've done what I can the easy stuff is left for you. The reserve is very reasonable, because of that. May consider a finished lead sled trade, no projects. This car is listed locally and is subject to prior sale, ending the auction. |

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines
Fri, 25 Oct 2013The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.
V6 engines will outpace V8s for the 2015 Ford F-150
Wed, 23 Jul 2014How times have changed. Even five years ago, who would have thought the mighty V8 would be just another engine choice for buyers of the 2015 Ford F-150?
Ford is projecting about 28 percent of the next-generation trucks will have the 5.0-liter V8. That's nothing to sneeze at, but consider this: Ford figures its two EcoBoost truck engines - the new 2.7-liter V6 and the existing 3.5-liter V6 - will also each account for about 28 percent of the F-150's sales (56 percent total). That leaves only 15 percent of the pie for the 3.5-liter (non-EcoBoost) V6. The new F-150 goes on sale late this year.
