The entire life of the car has been in Wisconsin and I am the third owner.  I purchased the sport coupe on October 8, 2004 from a local woman after the death of her husband.  The car had been restored in the late 1990's.  Recently, the original license plates were found by the widow and are included.  The restoration included a LeBaron Bonney interior and top, fabric rumble seat and body repainting using the original Copra Drab DDL 440 color and black fenders.  Several veteran members of the local Model A Club knew of the car and quality of restoration.  The sport coupe is authentic (excluding the luggage rack) including the early 1928 red steering wheel, nickel plating of the radiator shell and headlights.  The engine is original.  The car went through a complete rework (including necessary part replacement) procedure which was done by the president of the Model A Club during the remainder of October 2004.  Available on request is a five page analysis of the codition of the car at purchase and the new related rework including listing of all parts.  Major items include:  carburetor, door hardware and glass, electrical systems, manifold gasket, exhaust system, spark plugs, hoses, speedometer, water pump, fan belt, distributor, painting of engine, rewiring of instrument panel, kingpin, rear axle grease seals.  Additional work after 2004 includes:  2006 - new brake work including brake shoes, reface of brake drums, new front and rear roller pin and floater.  2007 - replacement of 7 tooth steering box, shaft and new spines.  2009 - new battery and replacement of generator (which  is available if requested) with alternator.  2010 - new spindle bolt set.  2012 - new front outer bearing.  The speedometer was not functioning when I purchased the car in 2004.  New speedometer installed in 2004 has 4300 miles on the odometer.  Included is a notebook of all service records and invoices of all work from 2004-2013.  The car has been unique to the Model A Club which includes only three sport coupes.  It has been a fun car to enjoy as it received many compliments and attracted many photographers.  It represents an aesthetically simplistic appealing period of automotive history.  Age and a hip replacement has prevented me from driving, so it is time to let someone else enjoy the experience, pride and joy of ownership.

Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.

Even Ford executives had issues with MyFord Touch

Fri, Oct 7 2016

MyFord Touch is one of the auto industry's more controversial features. The media broadly panned the infotainment system developed with Microsoft for its slow responses and reliance on voice commands to navigate its deep menus. Oh, and Ford executives weren't big fans, either. Newly revealed court documents in a California class-action lawsuit demonstrate the level of venom Ford employees, both big and small, reserved for the Blue Oval's infotainment system. An error caused Bill Ford's navigation system to crash, leaving the family scion stuck on the side of the road in an unfamiliar area. The documents, unearthed by Forbes, detail current CEO Mark Fields' aggravations with MFT, too. A mechanic emailed an image of a cracked infotainment screen on an Edge to one of Ford's top Sync engineers, Kenneth Williams, suggesting "Mark Fields may have been a little aggravated with the system." But Ford and Fields' issues are nothing compared to the woes of the engineers that had to work on MFT. In a collection of emails obtained by Forbes, one engineer called the system "a polished turd," while another simply said, "These poor customers." And after one engineer suggested using a photo of Ford's Oakville Assembly Plant – home of the Edge, Flex, Lincoln MKX, and MKT production – as a background for the system, one of his coworkers said in an email that someone should instead Photoshop the image to read "abandon hope all ye who enter here," the Detroit News reports. Another summed up the problem, saying: "Ford's quality reputation is completely on the line ... another model year with the same crap is not acceptable." MyFord Touch almost single-handedly torpedoed Ford's reputation in widely reported quality metrics, including JD Power and Consumer Reports. Ford responded with a refreshed Sync3, a wildly improved rethink of its infotainment system that is far more responsive and easier to live with every day. Fewest vehicles ever found eligible for Most American survey

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Once again, the most American car on the market is from an American brand. The Ford F-150 retained its number one spot in Cars.com's annual survey of the most American vehicles, trumping the Toyota Camry, which remains at number two.
Ford taking the top spot is small consolation, though, as the Detroit Three aren't too well represented here. General Motors scored a win at number seven, with the Chevrolet Corvette, while Chrysler squeaked in at number ten, with the Dodge Viper. Outside of those three vehicles, Toyota and Honda dominate the top ten.
What's most remarkable, though, is that there were so few cars available for this year's list.
