Before I begin I would encourage all serious buyers to contact me directly at: 517-425-0129. Although this is a 7 day auction, I reserve the right to end listing early. You are bidding on a 1964 Ford Galaxie XL 500 2 door fastback. 1964 is the last year of this desirable body style and it is a real Z code 390 car. Vehicle was a 2 owner, family owned car, purchased new in Louisville, KY. and spent most if its life in Tennessee. Very solid original panels, all trim tags and VIN numbers in place. Miles of 129000 are presumed original. Vehicle was and is an original Wimbledon white car with two tone original interior. Door tag reads as follows:
* Body; 63 2 door fastback Description as follows: Interior: original untouched interior with exception of carpet. Very nice two tone blue with rare bucket seat console combo. Still retains the original AM radio. Very nice headliner. Exterior: one repaint to its original Wimbledon White. All exterior chrome and trim in very nice condition. Factory XL hub caps with new white wall tires. As stated earlier, very solid car. Floors, frame, trunk, etc. show no evidence of repair or patching. Vehicle was repainted a few years back, still shows well. A few minor nicks and chips, no dents or dings. Nicely finished trunk area with spare and new correct trunk mat. Mechanical: Z code 390 V-8 4 barrel, dual exhaust. Appears to still retain original valve covers, air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, etc. 3 speed automatic trans , 9” rear, power steering, manual brakes. Vehicle was in storage for some time, recent oil and filter change, complete tune up, new brakes. To summarize: A well preserved collectable car, hard to find in this condition. Still retains most if not all its original equipment and colors. Please take the time to review all the pics, don’t hesitate to call with further questions. 517-425-0129. I also have contact with a reasonable shipping company and would be glad to assist. Vehicle offered by Rare Rides, a licensed MI dealer. Ford says 70% of its models to get stop-start by 2017
Sun, 15 Dec 2013Ford is following up on a report we posted a few weeks back that the Blue Oval would be adding stop-start technology to its entire model range. Now, the Dearborn-based automaker has announced that the fuel-saving feature would be available on 70 percent of the company's range by 2017.
Ford claims the technology will improve fuel economy by around 3.5 percent, although its actual effect will vary based on how the owner drives - apparently up to a 10-percent improvement is possible for those who sit in heavy traffic (Los Angelenos, this means you). The latest recipient of the technology is the updated 2014 Ford Fiesta with the company's three-cylinder EcoBoost powerplant.
Part of the reasoning for the new addition has to do with cost. Ford claims the tech is affordable and easy to implement. "Simply put, Auto Start-Stop helps customers use less fuel, which is an important component of Ford's Blueprint for Sustainability," Ford's global powertrain vice president, Bob Fascetti, said.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
