Up for auction is my beautiful 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD convertible. The 1965 Galaxie was an all-new design, featuring vertically stacked headlights in what was becoming the fashionable style in a car somewhat taller and bulkier than previous year's.
Suspension was dramatically redesigned.  Replacing the former leaf-spring rear suspension was the new three-link system, featuring all coils. The ride improved, and handling got a boost, and this system was used for NASCAR in the full-size class.

                                                                                                                                              .
The car is all original, and all emblems are intact. Weight is 3,615 pounds.

This Galaxie 500 has a powerful 289 , V-8 (4.7 litre ) engine. It stars right up, and idles smoothly. It is 2-Door , 3-speed automatic, with dual exhaust. It features a 2-way key system.

The body, and paint are in very good shape. You will find some minor scratches scattered throughout, and a few shallow dings ( just what you would expect from a car this old)  It had a paint job in the past, and an undercoating too. The trunk is very clean with no rust. Included is the original spare tire, jack, and fire extinguisher .
There is a spot of rust about 2 inches in diameter  through the backseat passenger side quarter floor panel.  Please see the photo.

The interior is in very good shape. The vinyl seats shine like new. The are no rips or tears on the seats, and the carpet is in great condition, and comes with floor mats.

The dash is in great condition. There is a tear located on the driver's side vinyl door panel at the top. It should be easy to replace. (Please see the photo)

Has all the seat belts. All windows are intact, and work perfectly. The vinyl convertible top, and rear window, are in beautiful shape- no tears throughout. Convertible Top goes up and down perfectly,  using  the "Top" nob located on the dash. Comes with original vinyl convertible well-liner.

Electrically everything is in perfect working order, except the clock, and lighter. The radio isn't hooked up.

The car sells as is. Buyer pays total shipping costs.

Thanks for bidding, and enjoy this Classic beauty!

Ford, Ram in heavy-duty towing spat

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Every pickup truck commercial has the brand trying to convince us that its model is the biggest, brawniest vehicle on the block. But Ford and Ram appear ready to really throw down the gauntlet and scrap over the towing figures for their heavy-duty models, and it could potentially end up in court.
The issue revolves around what it means to be best in class. Ford claims that its 2015 F-450 (pictured above) has a max tow rating of 31,200 pounds, compared to 30,000 pounds for the Ram 3500 (right). However, both companies market these heavy haulers as having the top towing in their class. According to Automotive News, Ford is threatening legal action if Ram doesn't back down.
The situation isn't as simple as just comparing the numbers, though. First, the two companies calculate their towing capacities differently. Ram adheres to the SAE J2807 rating, while Ford uses its own internal system. Although, as the company introduces new models, they are certified using the SAE standard. "When an all-new F-Series Super Duty is introduced, it also will use SAE J2807," said Ford to Autoblog in an emailed statement.

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver. Ford shares falling on news of lower-than-expected profits next year

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Ford has released projections for its 2013 profits, along with predictions of its 2014 earnings, and the news has forced the company's stock to stumble, falling over seven percent as of this writing. The Blue Oval is expecting earnings of $8.34 billion for 2013, although the bulk of that is coming largely from its North American operations, as troubles abroad continue to take a toll.
Calling 2013 an "outstanding" year, Ford expects its revenue to be up about 10 percent, thanks to gains in market share everywhere but Europe. But it's 2014 predictions that are causing stock prices to fall, as the Dearborn-based manufacturer expects pre-tax profits to fall to $7 to $8 billion, because of troubles in both Europe and South America, according to a report from Reuters. This is despite an expansion plan that will see it open an additional factory in the southern hemisphere, as well as two plants in China, all in a bid to launch 23 new or refreshed products next year.
The issues in South America aren't so much related to a fall in sales - Ford expects improved profits in Brazil and Argentina - but because of currency devaluations in Venezuela that are projected to cost it around $350 million. While that would still allow it to break even with 2013, Ford cites continued economic risks that could push losses even higher.
