I, am selling my 1968 Galaxie 500 2 door hardtop. It a documented 1 of 89 built with the "Z" code high performance 390 and the factory 4 speed transmission. I have 1973 Mach 1, Q code 4 speed car in final assembly at this time so this car has to go. I have a friend in the San Jose area that found this car for me some 3 years ago. I knew it was an oddball car at the time but had no idea how few were built until after I got it home here and ordered a Marti report. The previous owner had it for 30+ years. I will detail what I have done to the car and what I know of it.

BODY: Car was built in Los Angeles and sold new in Sacramento, Ca. and stayed in the area until my acquiring about 3 years ago. It is absolutely rust free, no bubbles, no patches, no rust repair of any kind. I did have the car painted in it's original Wimbleton White. It had some dings and nicks but no body damage at all. I had the front and rear bumpers replated, it has new door weatherstrips and trunk gasket and all body bumpers new. All jams, underside of hood and trunk were redone as well. I did some detailing under the hood, the trunk compartment is all originaly. The paint is better than driver quality and looks like the day it came from the paint shop. I did add the BFG's and the factory mag style wheelcovers as well.

INTERIOR: The interior is all original with the exception of the carpet and the front and rear seat covers. The dash does have some cracks but have not been able to find a good one. It still has the original shift ball. The headliner is good, rear package tray good but wavy. Door trim panels are good for originals but not perfect.

MECHANICAL: The previous owner sent a fat folder full of slips going back many years. The rear axle assembly has been rebuilt along with tons of maintainance type stuff. He also said the heads have redone as well but some time ago. It runs great, shifts wonderfully and handles well. I have replaced the front coils springs and shocks due to a broken coil. The rest of the front end was in good shape and it took an alignment nicely. I also had the shifter rebuilt and it shifts extremely well with no Synchro issues in the toploader. The car still has what I believe is it's original "H" pipe coming from the exhaust manifolds. I did put new mufflers and correctly bent tailpipes on it and it sounds nice. The original dual exhaust hangers were even used over again. A true testament to the dry climate the car has enjoyed. I, of course never drove the car in bad weather at all, in keeping with it's dry history.

The car has a split personality. It doesn't quite know if it is a Grandma car or if it is your Uncle's Torino GT. You get the same feeling driving it. It's a very strange feeling but nice and comfy all at the same time. If you have any questions please call 715-281-9340 or e-mail. The car is open to inspection, just call a little ahead to arrange. I do work a normal 8-5 job so please keep this in mind.

I would require a 25% deposit at auctions end with the balance in 7 days after closing. The car is sold as is, where is so please look or ask questions. It is a nice car and nothing to hide.
Buyer is responsible for transportation.

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION, HIGH BID BUYS THE CAR. PLEASE NO ASKING YOUR WIFE OR  MOTHER AFTER THE AUCTION, GET YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW AND OWN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ford's new Focus RS hatches hot and heads for America

Tue, Feb 3 2015

The hot hatch market is heating up, and heating up fast. What you see here is Ford's new challenger for pocket-rocket supremacy, the third iteration of the breed and the 30th model to wear the Rallye Sport designation. But perhaps best of all, it will be the first time Ford will offer a new Focus RS in America. Following yesterday's leak, the latest Ford Focus RS is now ready to step out into the light and light up its tires. Answering the call is the same 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo four as you'd find in the new Mustang, but upgraded with a new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, larger compressor and intercooler, freer-flowing intake, large-bore dual-pipe exhaust with electronically controlled valve and upgraded internal components. The result is a 6,500-rpm redline (closer to that of Ford's atmospheric performance engines) and an output quoted as "well in excess of 315 horsepower" – which is already 5 more than the EcoBoost Mustang and a good 63 more than the existing Focus ST. Power is transmitted to the tarmac through a new performance-focused all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring that can send as much as 70 percent of available twist to the rear wheels (and as much as 100 percent between them). The system works in tandem with the brake-based torque vectoring system and stability control, and will even divert torque to the outside rear wheel under cornering to keep it flat and under control while reducing understeer. Those still suspicious of dual-clutch gearboxes will also be pleased to read that Ford has stuck with a conventional six-speed manual. We'll reserve judgement on the inclusion of the electric power steering until we get a chance to drive it, though. Of course the small team of global Ford Performance engineers who developed the new Focus RS – and the Gymkhana legend Ken Block who consulted on the project – didn't just tinker with the powertrain and leave it at that. The suspension features stiffer spring rates, bushings and anti-roll bars than the Focus ST, augmented by two-mode switchable dampers. 19-inch alloys wear Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber, with optional Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slicks for track-day enthusiasts. Ford has yet to detail the brakes on its new hot hatch, but you can bet they've been upgraded as well.

Do you guys like trucks?

Wed, Jan 17 2018

Do you guys like trucks? If the answer is yes, boy do we have the show for you! The 2018 North American International Auto Show is lousy with 'em. Yeah, we saw the new Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado and Ford Ranger, but that's just scratching the surface. There are big trucks, little trucks, clean trucks, dirty trucks, old trucks, new trucks, red trucks, blue trucks. It's like a Dr. Seuss book. Anyway, we made a little video for you truck nuts (see what I did there?). Check it out above, and if you're looking for more serious coverage of the Detroit Auto Show, we've got it, along with a ton of images and other videos from the show floor. Enjoy! National Geographic Channel balances Ford F-150 on four coffee mugs

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Proving that there is still something to be learned on television these days, National Geographic Channel recently introduced a new series called Duck Quacks Don't Echo. On the first episode of this science/comedy show, host Michael Ian Black proposes the idea that a truck can be supported with a ceramic coffee mug under each wheel - yes, he says that the entire weight of a truck can be balanced on just four coffee mugs.
Looking to find out whether this is fact or myth, the show uses a regular cab Ford F-150, weighing in at 4,800 pounds, and four average coffee mugs. Lowered onto the mugs, the idea is quickly put to the test. Can the cups hold up under 4,800 pounds? If so, what, exactly, would it take to break them? Scroll down below to find out.
