I always wanted a 65-67 Galaxie growing up and ended up purchasing this one in 2011 in Oregon, spent a couple weeks tuning it up and then made a big road trip and drove it back across the country to Pennsylvania.  The vehicle is in very nice shape.  It has not been restored or messed around with that much and most of the stuff on it is original.  The coolest thing for me is just how nice the undercarraige of the car is.  As far as I'm concerned, the car, although not perfect, has character.  As an owner, other than keeping it tuned up in and in working order, I like it the way that it is.  But.... for the right somebody else out there, this car is a perfect candidate for a top to bottom restoration.  I've provided many detailed pictures.

Now I'll tell you what is wrong with the car that I know of.  First of all, the engine leaks oil out of the manifold.  I add about a half quart or more to top it off every time that I fill up the tank with gas.  I am not a "mechanic", but do know a little about how to work on a car, and my best diagnosis is that there are broken studs in the manifold.  The car drives fine and the engine runs well, so for the past summer driving it I let it go.  Although this may not be a big problem to fix for somebody that works on cars constantly, it would be a project for the non mechanic (me) to fix that up.  The thought of fixing it jumped through my mind, but if I'm going to sell it, I'll leave that up to the next person.

On the driver's side fender there is a spot touched up with white paint right behind the tire.  The trunk was completely repainted.  Both of these things were there before I bought the car.  A teenage girl bumped into my car last year in a parking lot, while the car was parked.  The chrome on the driver's side taillight was bent and the paint and letters were scratched.  It was repaired professionally at a body shop in Buffalo New York.  The Chrome was replaced with an older part and the letters (except for the "G") were replaced with New Old Stock original galaxie letters (the rubber is black and perfect), the scratch on the body was fixed and painted.  This was not a major collision and not something that would cause major damage to the car, was just a minor cosmetic thing.

I replaced the old carburetor with a new Edelbrock.  I still have the old one, but it needs to be rebuilt.  Also have the original air filter.  With the passing gear stepdown rod, I couldn't get the linkage right with the new carburetor (didn't put that much effort into it), so I just tied it up with a bungy.  I also replaced the belts, brakes, drums, master cylinder, coil and distributer, a few other small things.

This is a pretty great car.  Perfect for a person that would want to restore a classic automobile.  Look at the photos and let me know about any questions that you have.

Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.

Sunday Drive: Volvo hits a crossover home run, and people still love sports cars

Sun, Sep 24 2017

Looking back at the week that just was clearly tells us at least three things. First, crossovers don't have to be boring. Second, people still love sports cars, from the attainable (Audi TT RS) to the fanciful (Mercedes-AMG GT C). And finally, the traditional German trio of premium luxury brands had better not rest on their laurels, because credible challengers are coming in from every direction. The biggest reveal of the week, at least judging by the interest of Autoblog readers, was the Volvo XC40. Not only is the little 'ute a looker, it introduces some innovative new buying/leasing schemes designed to appeal to an audience accustomed to trading in and trading up every couple of years. Think of Volvo's flat-fee lease as you would a smartphone contract, and you'll be on the right track. Genesis looks to have a hit on its hands in the form of the G70 sport sedan. We took a Korean-spec model for a spin and found a lot to like about the upstart contender. We can't wait to sample one here in the United States to see how it stacks up against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In other news, we're still really excited to see a production Ford Ranger Raptor. But if you just can't wait for the official reveal — it's OK, neither can we — take a look at the renderings in our post down below. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. Ford says C-Max mpg reduction has hurt sales

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

The Ford C-Max is having a rough time. Sales for the five-door hybrid hatchback were down 39.1 percent in March to 2,295 cars, and sales from January through March were down 42.5 percent to 5,566 units. In an interview with The Detroit News, Ford Americas boss Joe Hinrichs places the blame on lowering the model's fuel economy rating.
"We're definitely seeing consideration on C-Max decline over time. We need to reinvest in the product because it's a great car," said Hinrichs to The Detroit News.
The company was hit with bad publicity over the C-Max when owners in multiple states filed class action lawsuits that alleged the cars weren't able to meet the stated fuel economy. Ford eventually re-rated the model from 47 miles per gallon city, highway and combined to 40 mpg city, 45 mpg highway and 43 mpg combined. To soften the blow of the change, the automaker sent checks to the owners to make up some of the difference. Initially, Ford claimed that demand remained strong for the hybrid. However, the latest sales figures and Hinrichs' statement seem to show the opposite.
