1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Vintage Original Unrestored Classic V8 Factory Ac Ca Car on 2040-cars
Round Mountain, California, United States
Our 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 4 door hard top with 260 V8 is an all original unrestored car. It was manufactured in Dallas, TX and shipped to California. We have the original owner's manual and are the second owners. It has always been garaged and well maintained. The title is clear and in my name. It has the original two tone Glacier Blue paint with the Viking Blue hard top. The paint is in really good condition with some minor touchup paint applied to nicks by the first owner. The body and original molding is in really nice, straight condition. There's one small dent in this car near the grille on the passenger side and that's it. Original wheels and hub caps. The wheels have some superficial rust on them. Michelin tires are about 75% or better remaining tread. All the glass is in nice condition with no cracks or chips. All of the window cranks work freely. Original seatbelts. The seats show a patina where the white sections are not pure white anymore. Carpet is in great shape with no rot. Headliner is original and in great shape. Dome light cover is missing. Dash paint is weathered a bit as seen in photos but as with the rest of the car, I left it as is unrestored. This car has Ford factory air conditioning and it works but is blowing cool air and not ice cold so it could probably use a recharge. All of the dash instruments work including the original AM radio, heater, defroster, turn signals, horn, etc. All of the exterior lights work. The 260 V8 runs very quiet with no ticking, tapping, knocking or faltering. It starts right up and has no modifications to it. It gets exercised and serviced regularly and has not been sitting. The water pump and AC belt were recently replaced. The automatic transmission goes into gear with a positive bump as it should and does not slip, clunk or falter. Brakes work as they should without pulling to one side or the other. We keep this in the garage and it doesn't leak any fluids. These Galaxies are only truly original like this once. |

Ford Explorer Jackson Pollock Edition results in trip to hospital
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Among the many useful pieces of driving advice we've taken to heart over the years, "Safely secure all cargo" is etched pretty high on our personal stone tablets. We've had a couple of frustrating moments over the years (numerous wonky cupholders and too-tall lidded cups; a radar detector that released its suction cups and dashed itself below the dashboard, etc.), but never anything like the scene above.
These photos above come courtesy of the Washington State Patrol, and they show the unfortunate aftermath of a driver, his dog, and his Ford Explorer after it crashed near the town of Belfair last week. According to reports, the man was schlepping five-gallon containers of paint inside his vehicle when he was involved in an unexplained accident. It's not clear what triggered the crash, but the impromptu abstract painting covered the whole of the interior, including the driver and his faithful companion.
The man was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, and his dog was cleaned and later taken to a humane society.
EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate
Mon, 26 Aug 2013
The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.
Ford Focus RS will go global, come to US
Thu, Dec 11 2014"We are transforming our approach to performance." – Mark Fields Ford will launch a new high-performance Focus RS around the world, including the United States, company CEO Mark Fields confirmed at a press conference Thursday morning. It is expected to debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show, though launch timing is unclear. "We are transforming our approach to performance," Fields said. The RS will serve as a hotter variant of the Focus, which will be redesigned next year as part of Ford's 16 product launches. Our spy photographers have already captured images of a purported RS, which you can see above. Ford last sold a Focus RS in Europe in 2009, and it continues the long lineage of RS-badged performance cars, which dates to 1968. "The RS has a significant heritage and pedigree," Ford product chief Raj Nair said. The Focus RS will slot above the Focus ST, which will continue, a spokesman said. The ST runs a turbocharged, 252-horsepower four-cylinder that's paired with a six-speed manual transmission. It also has chassis and design upgrades to reinforce its athletic dynamics. The most recent intel suggests that the new RS could use Ford's 2.3-liter turbo-four, tuned to anywhere from 325 to 350 hp. All-wheel drive is also rumored to be part of the new RS formula. Meanwhile, Ford announced it is putting all of its sporty units under the umbrella name of "Ford Performance," which will be led by Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Ford Performance will include Ford Racing, SVT (which is responsible for the Raptor and Shelby GT350) and RS. "We're changing Ford's performance business," Nair said. Ford is placing a renewed emphasis on performance, as the customers tend to be younger, wealthier and better educated, Nair said. In other news, Nair said the company is working on a Raptor version of the new, aluminum-bodied F-150, which launched this year. "I want to get it out as quickly as we can," he said.
