For sale is a fun to drive and reliable 1963 Ford Galaxie 500. This is is the most enjoyable classic car I have ever owned to take out and cruise around in. The car has power everything: brakes, steering, windows, seat, door locks and A/C. The car has a powerful, torque monster 390 cubic inch V8 paired with a Cruise a Matic transmission and a Ford 9" differential with 3.25 gears. The car has high performance exhaust manifolds, similar to headers except they are cast, and a performance dual exhaust with H pipe. 


Mechanical: The engine and transmission run just like they should. They only have 7,000 miles on them since complete rebuild. The car has drum brakes at all corners and when stopping if you really get on the brakes the car will pull a little to the left. Drum brakes will almost always do this no matter how many times you have them turned or worked on.

Body: The body is rust free and is wearing a paint job completed in June of 2013. All the body panels are straight and there is no evidence that the vehicle has ever been wrecked or had significant rust problems. There is one area of imperfection on the body work that is on the passenger side under the rear door, the pictures show it. This was the only area that needed any body work before paint and needless to say it did not get fixed 100%. It is not evident unless you squat down or the light hits it just right. Other than that the body and paint are in excellent condition. Underneath the car it is evident that the vehicle has been taken care of seeing how little rust there is. Take a look at the pictures underneath and you can see that it is nothing that cannot be wire brushed off. These vehicles were built like Sherman tanks, look at how huge the frame rails are! As it sits this is a 5,000 lb vehicle. 

Electrical: The power seats do work, they go back and forth but not up and down. Of the power windows only the driver side works. The other three need to have the motors rebuilt which is around 90$ per window after parts and labor. The power locks and radio do not work. All the other lights, gauges, etc do work. 

Interior: The interior of the car is in good shape for being original. There are two obvious areas on the front and rear bench seats that can be fixed. Take a close look at the pictures and you can see that they are not tears but are separations in the stitching of the seat. The headliner is in good condition and the door panels are in acceptable condition for being original. 

When doing the final parts of this restoration I decided not to chrome the bumpers. I had an idea that to better match the cruiser theme and the aluminum side moldings that powder coating the bumpers an aluminum color would fit well, and it did. Every time I look at the car the bumpers grow more on me. The whole theme of this build was an understated cruiser that would catch the eye driving by and get a lot of looks sitting still.

Ford issues recalls for Fiesta, Fusion, E-Series, and Lincoln MKZ

Ford has issued two new safety recalls for North America. The first covers certain 2014-15 Ford Fiestas, 2014-16 Ford Fusions, and 2014-16 Lincoln MKZs with doors that might not close properly. The second pertains to 2021 Ford E-Series stripped chassis and cutaway vehicles with a wiring harness that might chaffe and expose important wiring.    Ford is recalling 268,343 Fiesta hatchbacks, Fusion sedans, and MKZ sedans across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with 248,912 of the affected vehicles located in the U.S. The recall says the "latch pawl spring-tab design" could crack in locations where the temperature gets too hot. If the tab breaks, the door might not shut. Or, worse, the door will shut temporarily and reopen once the vehicle is in motion. As a fix, Ford dealers will remove and replace the side door latches. In a separate recall, Ford is targeting 3,631 2021 E-Series stripped chassis and cutaway vehicles. These vehicles could have frame-mounted wiring harnesses that could deteriorate and break due to rubbing on the frame. If the chaffing wears down the harness, wiring for the fuel, trailer tow, and antilock braking systems could be exposed and damaged. In the worst-case scenario, the damage to the fuel pump wiring could cause the pump to stop working, which could stall the vehicle.  Those with affected E-Series vehicles should bring them in to dealerships for inspection. If there is no damage, technicians will add anti-abrasion tape over the area and "ensure clearance to surrounding components." If the harness is damaged, the wiring will be spliced and fixed, then anti-abrasion tape will be added. Ford also issued a third recall, but it is specifically for the Canadian market. On 54,292 examples of 2006-10 Ford Fusions, 2006-10 Mercury Milans, and 2006-10 Lincoln MKZs, a valve inside the hydraulic control unit might stick open. According to Ford, this could result in a longer brake pedal travel, which could possibly create dangerous situations if the driver is unaware. Ford pits The Stig against Gran Turismo 6 in Focus ST Goodwood run

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world great automotive gatherings. So, it was the perfect event for Ford to give the refreshed 2015 Focus ST its world debut in front of a loving public. It even surprised us with a new diesel-powered version, as well.
The Blue Oval really put its focus on making the ST a better driver for this refresh. It left its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder alone to still pump out a respectable 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The changes like a retuned front suspension, electric power steering and improved interior made the hot hatch an even better place to spend time behind the wheel.
To prove that the Focus ST is still as potent as ever, Ford set up a one-on-one race up the Goodwood Hill. But instead of putting the two cars side-by-side, former Stig from Top Gear UK, Ben Collins, piloted the real model up the course, and his rival drove the virtual version in Gran Turismo 6. The two hot hatches set off at the same time to see whether reality could beat the virtual world, and the finish was actually extremely close. New Ford dedicated hybrid due in 2018, will it fare better than C-Max?

Everyone likes to go after the champ. When it comes to fuel economy, that means taking on the Prius, which is something that automakers not named Toyota have been trying to do for years. Just because no one has been able to beat the Prius for fuel economy numbers isn't stopping them from trying. Hyundai was just caught with a potential Prius-fighter and now we have news that Ford is joining the party. Well, is going to join again. The last time Ford said it was going to challenge the Prius, it didn't go quite as planned. The C-Max hybrid was heavily hyped as a Prius-beater and was originally rated at 47 miles per gallon. Of course, it later needed to be recalculated to just 40 mpg and sales tanked. So, it's back to the Blue Oval drawing board, according to Automotive News, which is reporting that Ford is readying a brand new gas-electric hybrid due in 2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle. A plug-in version is in the works, too, and the car will reportedly share a platform with the upcoming next-gen Focus and Escape models. About those C-Max sales. They have not been stellar for the C-Max hybrid, which started strong but suffered when the reality of the lower fuel economy was realized. So far in 2014 (through the end of July), Ford has sold 11,685 gas-electric models and another 4,759 plug-in Energi versions. The trend for the standard C-Max is downward (from 20,125 during the same time frame in 2013) and upward for the plug-in version (2,915 in the first seven months of 2013).
