Up for auction is a 1963 Galaxie 500 4 door sedan. It has the original 352 big block engine that I upgraded with a 1963 Police Interceptor Aluminum intake and 1963 4100 Autolite 4 bbl carburetor. Also the heads are off a 1964 390 with a complete valve job. The headers are reproduction cast iron shorties just like the police cars had in 1963. I did not rebuild the bottom end because the original main bearings dated 8/11/62 were still in like new condition. The engine runs very strong. Also a complete 2 1/4" dual exhaust system with Dynomax SS welded mufflers. The cruise-o-matic transmission shifts and drives good. The rear end is the original 9" ford open differential with 3.00 gears. The factory power steering system has also been completely restored with all new parts from the PS pump to the tie rod ends.

Exterior repairs that I have completed are as follows right and left rear quarter panel replacement, floor pan and trunk pan replacement and drivers side rear door replacement. The front clip was stripped down to bare metal and any rust was removed. All weather stripping has been replaced including windshield and rear glass gaskets. All exterior rust was cut out and new metal was welded in. the only rust left on the car is in three of the four doors Those areas would take less than 2" diameter patches to repair. Also there are NOS Front and Rear Bumpers installed.

Interior repairs that have been completed are New carpeting, New door panels and seat covers that were made from NOS ford vinyl. The dash was disassembled stripped and painted to match the interior. An NOS Police speedo was installed and a 17" steering wheel was restored and installed.

Additional things that have been completed are The original drum brake system was completely rebuilt to factory specs. 5 New 15" tires were mounted on replacement 15 X 5.5" steel rims and capped off with a set of OEM Stainless Steel Dog Dish hubcaps.

All of the exterior molding is in average shape and will go with the car.

I have owned the car since 2009. During that time I have invested over 10K in parts to restore this car. I have all the receipts that will go with the car. Also going with the car is a photo book that documents the entire process of repair to date since 2009.

If you would like to see this entire process all the photos are posted on my FB page. Just follow the link below.

The reason I am selling this car is that I have too many projects to finish any so I decided to part with this beauty that just needs a little more TLC.

The car runs good and I am not afraid to take it anywhere. In March I drove it to Myrtle Beach for Run to the Sun car show.

Buyer is responsible for shipping. The car will only be released after complete payment has been received. It can be picked up locally and driven anywhere.

Ford Escort testing, may be bound for Europe

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

There has been little news about Ford's China-focused Escort concept since debuting at last year's Shanghai Motor Show, but the no-frills sedan has shown its camouflaged face again during cold weather testing in Northern Sweden. While far from a guarantee, the test location might hint that the Blue Oval plans to market the car outside of Asia.
The Escort's black robe and zebra paint make it hard to tell if anything specific has changed about the design, but the shape of the sedan looks close to what was shown in Shanghai. Under the disguise, you can still make out the hexagonal front grille from the concept. When Ford announced the model, the company said that the design wasn't supposed to be "arrogant or pretentious," and it certainly achieved that. The engine range is still a mystery, but it seems safe to expect small, economy-focused powertrains.
A report from last year indicated that Ford may be considering broadening the new Escort beyond Asia and possibly even selling it in Europe. The fact that the company brought it to Sweden for testing could bolster that argument. A release date hasn't been set yet, but the automaker has promised 15 new products for China by 2015. The basic sedan could be on the road soon.

Ringbrothers shows off Coyote-powered 1968 Mercury Cougar

Thu, Feb 25 2021

We'll openly admit that not every SEMA build is our cup of tea. But this? A tastefully resto-modded 1968 Mercury Cougar with a 460-horsepower Ford Mustang V8? Yeah, this is right in our wheelhouse. Sadly, there was no in-pwerson SEMA show in 2020, so we missed out on gems like this one. SEMA or no SEMA, the aftermarket carries on, and co-owners Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers (get it?) saw no reason to let their time and effort go to waste.  When they're not building wild customs (see: 1,100-horsepower 1972 AMC Javelin AMX) or more subtle showcases (such as this Cougar or their 1971 K5 Chevy Blazer build from 2018), the folks at Ringbrothers crank out factory reproduction parts, whether for old-fashioned restoration or modification purposes. While '60s muscle cars are recurring build subjects for the two, the Cougar was the first of its kind they tackled.  Keeping it in the family, Ringbrothers sourced a Ford 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 and a 10-Speed Automatic (lifted from an F-150 Raptor, incidentally) for the build. They didn't stop with the driveline, of course. The suspension was overhauled with a little help from DSE and a set of HRE Series C1 C103 Forged 3-Piece wheels were thrown over upgraded brakes.  "We put our heart into each car we build, and this Cougar is no exception," Jim said. "The finished product is mild and classy, yet any enthusiast instantly knows it's not stock. I imagine this is what Mercury designers would have come up with if they were building the Cougar today." "While we couldn't bring the car to the SEMA Show, we hope it can be shown to the public soon," Mike said. "We had never done a Cougar before, so this was a fun build. I love working with new shapes and coming up with new ideas." There's plenty to appreciate about this Cougar apart from the mechanicals, too. The finish is Augusta Green Metallic (courtesy of BASF), which was a factory color in 1968. You may know it by another name: Highland Green. There are a few custom exterior touches, but they're quite subtle and styled to be period-correct. The interior was also restored and updated, and it's where you'll find the only thing we're not fond of: that big, fat truck shifter. Gearbox choices notwithstanding, it's a bit of an eyesore. But considering how gorgeous the rest is, we'll give it a pass.  Related Video:

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.
