1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner convertible. This car has been in our family for years and was recently aired to me. I will do my best to describe it to the best of my knowledge. This is an original 352 V8 motor with 61668 miles, new oil pump, carburetor, oil pump shaft, intake and valve cover gaskets, A/C compressor, distributor and wires, brake booster and master cylinder. All fluids have been changed and cooling system has been serviced. It has new brakes as well. New power top motor and pump. that works great. The top is in really good shape and is very tight. the rear window is faded and hazy and will need replaced. The front end has tons of new parts and all bushings have been replaced along with a fresh alignment. it drives nice and straight. There is a small exhaust leak and a leak on the fitting where the power steering hose connects. These are not major repairs, just need attention. The car appears to be rust free inside and out. The paint was redone with a base clear about 15 years ago and still shines nice as it was always stored inside. There are a few minor scratches and chips but nothing major. The body is real straight with no dents or dings. The under carriage is very clean with new paint and new exhaust from the manifolds back. The A/C blows cold and has a new compressor. Keep in mind this was my fathers car and I can only describe what I Know and have documents on. I have put about 4k into it to get it ready for sale. Its not perfect but could be with minimal work. The interior seats have been redone as well and look really nice. Fuel gauge is inop and wipers don't seem to work but I haven't looked into this so it could be a fuse or something minor. It starts and runs good although I have only drove it a few times from shop to shop. This is a really nice car and gets tons of complements. Like I said not perfect but really nice and complete. Thanks for looking and feel free to message me with your questions or contact information and I promise to answer all the questions as honestly as I can. These are the original miles! Good luck bidding

Ford's Galhotra succeeds Farley as head of Lincoln

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Ford Motor Company is announcing a major personnel shakeup that could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Lincoln division. Kumar Galhotra (pictured above), currently vice president of engineering at Ford for all of its vehicles worldwide, is taking over as the president of the luxury brand on September 1, replacing Jim Farley. The automaker is also hiring a new head of advanced engineering.
Galhotra has a huge job ahead of him as the new boss of Lincoln worldwide, overseeing product development, marketing, sales and service. His task is to turn the luxury division into a world-class brand as quickly as possible, and he reports directly to Ford President and CEO Mark Fields.
"These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of our One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress. They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company going forward," said Fields in the company's announcement.

10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.

Ford opens the doors on its Swedish rally skunkworks

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

It's always amazing to see how different kinds of racecars are made. Formula One racers are often constructed in modern architectural marvels that hint at some of the cutting-edge technology going into the racing. Conversely, rallying is all about sliding around on a varied course as fast as possible, but it often leaves a vehicle caked in mud. So it makes some sense Olsbergs MSE, or simply (OMSE) rally car shop in Nynashamn, Sweden, shows technological sophistication in a more down-to-earth setting. It builds Ford Fiesta ST racers for Global Rallycross there, and this new video gives viewers a tour through the work.
Former rally driver Andreas Eriksson runs OMSE. These days instead of racing, he and the company's 46 employees are building Ford racers from scratch. A ton of work goes into constructing each one, and according to Eriksson, it takes 400 hours to complete each body. At times, things are so busy that some of the technicians live in the shop in apartments that are on premises. There's even a restaurant to keep them fed. Sadly the dyno room is empty during this visit, though.
By the time OMSE is done, a rallycross car might resemble a Fiesta ST on the outside, but as you see in the video, it's a completely different beast underneath. Check out the work it takes to build one of them, and scroll down to read more about it in the official release.
