hello! this is the last of my project type cars. i have been moving a number of them in the last year and half. this is a great 59 wagon that be restored to original or make a great rat rod wagon. honest barn find here in ohio but was driven from 0klahoma in the early 80s. it has sat quite awhile, needs total restore but great bones and very complete except for minor things. first off let me say importantly that the car will need floor pans obviously. but i have taken much time to scrutinize all the rust issues on the car, and the outer body, doors, rockers and inner rockers, floor supports, core support, rear wheel wells and lips, inner and outer quarters are all incredibley good. it has one small rust area in the spare tire well at the forward dip, see pics. there is minor rust out under the rear seat reall just needs minor patching.that pont forward is what needs replaced as you can see in the pics. the supports where the pans set are excellent front and back, and where the pans meet the inner rockers are also perfect. it will be very easy to make your own for a quick job or lay new ones in and will be hard to even notice. the tailgate is excellent. the hood looks good from the outside but typical bottom lip is going.battery box area rusted but overall very nice inner fenders, air ducts etc. the interior is still pretty nice, typical front seat, but very respectable door panels, this is a 9 passenger and the jump seats are super nice. the bottom of the extra seat is there but the top is missing. even the original cardboard headliner isnt too bad. decent tinted glass all the way around, crack in left vent and left rear side. roll up and down great. the the right door has obvious damage but should be pulled out with out major effort. 332 auto condition unkown. pulled the plugs and oiled her up, does turn over by hand, at the least the trans stays in park very well i think f you had a rust running 59 4 door would be a good way to do the car, or a late model crown vic etc. it can go rat rod on a cheap budget as the outer body is fine as is.or a good car to restore to original. the mettalic blue was sprayed right over top the original wedgewood blue and is cooly flaking off in various places. there appears to be no previous body work any where. only known missing parts is hubcaps, wiper motor and air cleaner that i see. the sill plates where bad. ask any questions you have. this will make a neat car, the real main effort is the floor pans. will help with loading here. overseas buyers fine. 0 and lower negatives contact first or i will cancel bids if i smell a rat. thanks!

2020 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator reportedly facing numerous QC issues

Mon, Sep 16 2019

A lengthy report in the Detroit Free Press delves into a range of quality control issues confronting the 2020 Ford Explorer and its luxury platform sibling, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator. Freep says it's been following the issue for two months, tapping various unnamed sources for information on the automaker's unorthodox route to resolution. Seems the problem is Explorers and Aviators leaving the production line at the Chicago Assembly Plant with flaws in areas like the chassis, transmission and suspension, said vehicles trucked to Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant (FRAP) outside of Detroit for repair. The estimates range from 10,000 to 18,000 vehicles affected, numbers so high that Ford has sought help from Roush Engineering in nearby Allen Park, and brought workers and managers from other plants in the Midwest to FRAP to get vehicles repaired and shipped to dealers. Ford hasn't shared the nature of the problems with anyone outside the company, including dealers and customers. Freep's sources are said to include workers who have provided photos of certain vehicles and of tents used to house parts at the FRAP repair site. The Explorer chassis allegedly has an unidentified problem that engineers are using X-rays to diagnose, and the transmission is having problems sensing when it's in park or going into park. Both the Explorer and Aviator have come off the line with HVAC units that only blow hot air. And the Aviator's height-adjustable suspension enters failure mode for unknown reasons. These come on top of quotidian mishaps common to every new vehicle, but that are meant to be sorted in pre-production, like missing emblems and trim pieces. They also come on top of a recall in early August issued for the Explorer and Aviator concerning the instrument cluster and parking brake, and another at the end of August over rear seatbacks that could collapse in a crash. An automaker spokesperson told Freep, "Making updates to preproduction models based on all-new platforms as they roll off the assembly line – is standard industry practice." Except these aren't pre-production, these are early production vehicles that paying customers and dealers are waiting for, and some of the affected vehicles have been pulled off dealer lots. Dealers say they are fine waiting for the trucks to get sorted out, and they'd rather have Ford fix the problems before the SUVs go to customers.

2015 Ford F-150 enters production

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

Ford has given the F-150 a dramatic makeover for 2015, switching to an aluminum body that helps reduce weight by about 700 pounds. Because the truck is dramatically different, Ford also had to change the way it makes the F-150, so we went inside its sprawling factory in Dearborn, MI, this week to see the Blue Oval's new manufacturing techniques in action.
The company has added 850 jobs at the site and upgraded its stamping and tool and die facilities. The body shop is also modernized, and it has been fitted with 500 new robots that join the structures together. The first 2015 F-150 rolled off the line on Tuesday, and the trucks will begin arriving in dealerships in December. Get a closer look at the F-150's unique assembly process in our video.

Ford announces four recalls, 1.4M vehicles affected

Thu, 29 May 2014

Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013.
Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though.
"Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software."
