1963 Ford Galaxie XL 500 Victoria Coupe *** NO RESERVE *** History: This barn find is from a dry climate area and as a result has survived well. It was sold from an estate to a collector who in turn sold it to me shortly after. From the title it appears this Galaxie was last registered in 1975. Body: There is no sign of rust outside of minor surface areas, the trunk and floor are excellent as is the frame. The paint is aged but still looks good and in my opinion is not near needing to be redone, there are few touch-ups here and there but from a short distance appears to be excellent, there are no large dents or scrapes. The door jams are in good condition as is the firewall and inner fenders. The chrome and stainless shine nicely and although not perfect are also very good. The windows all roll up and down as they should and the windshield is excellent with no cracks or bruises. Mechanical: The 390 V8 starts and idles smoothly with no noticeable oil consumption or strange noises. The transmission shifts as it should, the car runs cool even on a warm day and it steers well. The exhaust system is louder than it should be and the power brake booster is not working as it should, although the bakes work well enough to stop at highway speeds. Interior: The interior is in excellent condition for a car of this vintage with less than the expected wear. The dash has not been drilled or modified and has the original radio, there are no cracks in the dash pad. The carpet is good with floor mats the seats are very good with 2 small wear spots on the drivers seat. The headliner is intact and not sagging the rear package tray has sun fading but is otherwise good. Reason for selling: I have a number of cars and a change in lifestyle means some have to go. The reason I am selling UNRESERVED is because I'm serious about selling it and if I put a reserve on it at what I feel it is worth it may not sell. Overall: This your chance to buy a well cared for unrestored 1960's classic Galaxie XL at price that is less than you paid for your house. It has the right equipment with a 390 V8, console shift and bucket seats and the Victoria body style is rarer than the fastback. If your looking for a car that is ready for the show and shines as is or would be a very worthy restoration project you should seriously consider this one. Location: The car is located just outside of Salmon Arm British Columbia a few hours from the Washington border. I can help find a shipper and help with the paperwork if the car is being shipped to the US as I am familiar the process (there is no duty on this car if it is imported to the US). Payment: Payment in full is due within 5 days of the close of the auction...NO EXCEPTIONS... buy bank to bank wire transfer, or cash in person, or official bank draft. You are welcome to view the car in person or by agent prior to the auction ending. If you have any questions please email me or call Ken at (250) 309-4561 SCAMMERS: DON'T EVEN TRY I'VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE THANKS FOR LOOKING |

Swedish car mag says Ford Mondeo is dangerously, illegally overweight [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Sweden's Teknikens Varld has a reputation for being very persnickety when it comes to auto safety testing, and its latest catch is the Mondeo Titanium Estate 2.0 TDCi 150 bhp S6 MPS (basically a station wagon variant of the Fusion). In addition to the model's mile-long name, it has another problem according to the Swedes, because its weight on the scales does not equal the official numbers for the vehicle. Teknikens Varld claims the wagon is dangerously overweight because it weighs in 4,145 pounds, while Ford officially lists its weight at 3,530 pounds. That 615-pound disparity means that if a family loads it to what they think is the model's gross vehicle weight, it will actually be too heavy, and therefore illegal to drive in Sweden. According to the magazine, when it tried doing this, the rear wheels scraped against the wells, and the estate failed the mag's legendary moose test. However, at 220 pounds over the limit, it passed the test. When reached for comment by Autoblog, Jay Ward, Senior Manager at Ford of Europe Product Communications, explained the reason for the deviation between the official numbers and the magazine's test: "We are aware of this, but this is not an issue that relates specifically to the safety of the Mondeo, but is in fact related to the way in which the cars are tested by the authorities. We provided an Ambiente model for the testing but the car that featured in the magazine test was a Titanium model which has a different weight. We are in discussion with the Swedish Transport Agency to change the framework so the real weight of the Titanium model is reported instead of the Ambiente model which will resolve the issue." Teknikens Varld is well-known for calling out automakers for perceived transgressions. Most recently it leveled criticisms against the all-wheel drive system in the Honda CR-V, and both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Porsche Macan failed its moose test. Scroll down for the magazine's video of weighing the Mondeo Estate and the model's test results. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The new Ford Mondeo is dangerously overweight The new Ford Mondeo is a great car, which Teknikens Varld's test shows, but there is one problem – the weight. Mondeo weighs 279 kg more than Ford claims. With big load (ie family plus luggage) the car therefore becomes illegal to drive.
Ford GT to be revived, Le Mans battle upcoming
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Ford dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1966 to 1969, scoring four consecutive wins. Wouldn't it be great if the Blue Oval could go back to France for the 50th anniversary of that performance and show it can still compete in international endurance racing? Actually, the latest rumors indicate that could be exactly the case, and the car taking that checkered flag could be another revival of the Ford GT.
As the rumblings go, Ford wants to use a new supercar to take another crack at Le Mans, after considering some other possible alternatives. Substantiating these musings are reports that a Blue Oval rep was reportedly on hand for a recent meeting about 2016 GTE-Class rules, according to Road and Track. That would put the new GT in the same racing class as the Corvette, Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 and others.
It's not all about racing, though. If you win on Sunday, you want something to be able to sell on Monday. The revived GT is reportedly still a mid-engine supercar, but the exact engine is unclear. It's possible that it could even be shown or announced at the Detroit auto show in January, according to Motor Trend.
