2004 Ford Freestar cargo van
This van is 100% ready to go, ready to work, ready for you! This van was owned and maintained by a fortune 500 company. This van was part of the General electric GE fleet lease program. Generally with a fortune 500 company this vehicle may have been assigned to the same person same driver since brand-new. These fleet lease vehicles are maintained too strict manufacturer standards. Currently has only 171,000 miles on it with much much more life left to go. Yesterday I saw a 2004 Ford Freestar fleet vehicle that had 345,000 miles on it, these vans are built well and built to last. Under the hood this has a 3.9 L V6 engine coupled with an automatic transmission. The V-6 runs perfect and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. There are no warning lights or service light on in the vehicle and no codes that are active in the computer this is another sign that this vehicle has been well cared for and very well-maintained. Under the engine bay it is exceptionally clean. While I have no evidence or proof of this the transmission looks so clean and so perfect it looks as if the transmission has been recently replaced. This minivan offers the convenience features of power windows, power door locks, Power mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, AM/FM stereo, oversized cup-holders, and multiple storage compartments. In the rear of this van you have the safety bulkhead behind the seats, you also have shelving with drawers and racking. The shelving was built by master rack and installed directly from Master rack as well. There are two drawers in the rear of the van both have adjustable compartments with dividers that you can move forward and rear adjusting for your cargo needs. This vehicle had an entire vinyl wrap that I believe has protected the vehicle substantially. As with any used vehicle you will expect to find some bumps and bruises along the way. The issues that I have noticed are as follows & are also photo'd and video'd as well. You will see on the driver seat there is one burn mark as well as a couple spots on the back rest. Not sure what the spots on the back rest are from but the one on the seat is clearly a cigarette burn. There is no noticeable odor of nicotine or cigarette smoke in the vehicle. On the driver-side just behind the rear door in front of the rear tire there is a bubbling spot that had some rust showing we cleaned that up and applied touch up paint to that area it is also photo'd below please take a look. On the passenger side of the van the rear door is dented I have taken many photos and a video of this from different angles so you can see the dent. On the same door and around the same area you will also find some scuffs and scratches in the paint, nothing too bad but they are there. The driver side headlight has some spots on it, I am not sure what the spots are we've attempted to clean them and polish them off but the spots will not come off. From a distance they are not noticeable you can only see them when you get directly close on the headlight they actually just look like water spots. On the front near the grill and front corners of the hood you have your normal bug chips rock chips etc. mostly all small like the size of the tip of your pen some larger some smaller but again as with any used vehicle every vehicle has these. Overall I think this is a very nice van someone should be proud to have as part of their fleet. This would be a very nice van for many different service industries. This van not only will carry tools and equipment to the job but also looks nice on the outside and is ready for your company logo. Make a lasting impression with a nice clean cared for well running van. I have taken many pictures as well as video of this van. Please take a look at all the photos and videos and you as well will see the quality of this vehicle. Ford Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator recalled
Wed, Apr 27 2016The Basics: Ford will recall 201,900 examples of the 2011-2012 F-150, 2012 Expedition, 2012 Mustang, and 2012 Lincoln Navigator. The affected vehicles have the 6R80 transmission. Of the total, there are 84,000 of them in the United States and 17,900 in Canada. The Problem: The output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame can force the gearbox to downshift into first gear. If this happens at high speed, it could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. Injuries/Deaths: There are no reported injuries, but Ford know of three accidents related to this problem. The Fix: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to eliminate the problem, and they'll also replace the transmission lead frame. If You Own One: Ford will begin notifying affected customers by mail on May 23. Related Video: FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES THREE SAFETY RECALLS AND TWO SAFETY COMPLIANCE RECALLS IN NORTH AMERICA DEARBORN, Mich., April 27, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing three safety recalls and two safety compliance recalls in North America. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall and customer satisfaction program for certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles in North America to update powertrain control module software and inspect for certain diagnostic trouble codes Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 202,000 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for a potential issue with the output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on the speed of the vehicle at the time of the downshift, the driver could experience an abrupt speed reduction that could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of three reports of accidents and no injuries related to this condition. Affected vehicles are equipped with a 6R80 transmission and include certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through March 9, 2012; 2012 Ford Expedition vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Dec. 19, 2011; Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Feb.
Car Stories: Owning the SHO station wagon that could've been
Fri, Oct 30 2015A little over a year ago, I bought what could be the most interesting car I will ever own. It was a 1987 Mercury Sable LS station wagon. Don't worry – there's much more to this story. I've always had a soft spot for wagons, and I still remember just how revolutionary the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were back in the mid-1980s. As a teenager, I fell especially hard for the 220-horsepower 1989 Ford Taurus SHO – so much so that I'd go on to own a dozen over the next 20 years. And like many other quirky enthusiasts, I always wondered what a SHO station wagon would be like. That changed last year when I bought the aforementioned Sable LS wagon, festooned with the high-revving DOHC 3.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission from a 1989 Taurus SHO. In addition, the wagon had SHO front seats, a SHO center console, and the 140-mph instrument cluster with mileage that matched the engine. When I bought it, that number was just under 60,000 – barely broken in for the overachieving Yamaha-sourced mill. The engine and transmission weren't the only upgrades. It wore dual-piston PBR brakes with the choice Eibach/Tokico suspension combo in front. The rear featured SHO disc brakes with MOOG cargo coils and Tokico shocks, resulting in a wagon that handled ridiculously well while still retaining a decent level of comfort and five-door functionality. I could attack the local switchbacks while rowing gears to a 7,000-rpm soundtrack just as easily as loading up on lumber at the hardware store. Over time I added a front tower brace to stiffen things a bit as well as a bigger, 73-mm mass airflow sensor for better breathing, and I sourced some inexpensive 2004 Taurus 16-inch five-spoke wheels, refinished in gunmetal to match the two-tone white/gunmetal finish on the car. That, along with some minor paint and body work, had me winning trophies at every car show in town. And yet, what I loved most about the car wasn't its looks or performance, but rather its history. And here's where things also get a little philosophical, because I absolutely, positively love old used cars. Don't get me wrong – new cars are great. Designers can sculpt a timeless automotive shape, and engineers can construct systems and subsystems to create an exquisite chassis with superb handling and plenty of horsepower. But it's the age and mileage that turn machines into something more than the sum of their parts.
