What we have here is a fine running SVT Focus. It has all the options NADA lists for the SVT plus the audiophile stereo that includes a 6 disc DC changer and a power sunroof that does not leak. No dents, no rust, no mechanical problems. All the options operate as they should. No problems with the CV joints, it shifts as it should. If you are familiar with the SVT you know that this car has substantially more performance than a regular Focus. Build quality is also much better than the next generation Focus. This is the second engine in this car. The first had a bad main bearing. Replacing the engine was about the same as a rebuild so I had a used engine put in with almost exactly the same mileage as the car, so the 104K miles is accurate for both body and engine. I had a new clutch and timing belt installed when the engine went in. I've driven it for just a little less than 10,000 miles since the install and all is as it should be. Overall the car is in nice shape with no body damage. It was a southern car so it has no rust. The breaks are good, the tires also have about 10,000 miles and are in very good shape. The steering is tight, the whole car is tight. The reason for selling is that I have way too many toys and I need to thin the herd. The car is currently located in southern West Virginia but was in southern North Carolina before this. The worst thing about it is the flaking clear-coat on the bumpers. The rest of the paint is good. The hatch release on the dash works about 50% of the time, but the releases on the remotes always work. NADA clean trade is $4,450, retail is $6,550. My reserve is somewhere in between. Since this is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Of course shipping is at the expense of the buyer. I will assist with loading but the buyer must make all arrangements.

What an Atlas-based Ford F-150 might look like
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Just ahead of January's Detroit Auto Show, surprising rumors pegged Ford as revealing some sort of F-150 concept, perhaps as a hurried effort to deflate some of the buzz building around General Motors' new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, which were also making their auto show debut. Those rumblings turned out to be true, as Ford rolled into the Motor City with its Atlas concept (inset, right), touting the truck's bold styling as a precursor to the next-generation F-Series.
The show truck featured all kinds of clever details, including active wheel shutters and a front air dam that raised and lowered to improve aerodynamics while preserving off-road ability. It also had a genuinely snarly face. And it's that pugnacious snout that may well be on its way to production. The good folks at TopSpeed have worked up the plausible-looking artist's rendering above by cross-referencing the Atlas concept with what little has been revealed from recent spy shots. The look is toned-down pretty dramatically from the concept truck, but its Atlas roots are clear, with a massive three-bar grille and bracket-shaped headlamps hiding a next-generation EcoBoost engine. In the rendering, the show truck's deeply contoured hood and roofline have been ditched and larger, more traditional side mirrors have been fitted - all likely concessions in the move to production sheetmetal.
While Ford has yet to officially announce when it will unveil the 2015 F-150, all signs point to next year's Detroit Auto Show - one year after the Atlas shrugged off GM's new pickups.
Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR
Fri, Jun 5 2015As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though.
