1969 Ford GT40 Mk III found roaming the halls in Geneva

The halls of the 2015 Geneva Motor Show are filled with all manner of exotic racing machinery, from the likes Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus to McLaren. But there's one peculiar bit of history tucked away that we thought you'd be equally interested to see: a 1969 Ford GT40 Mk III. One of only seven known to be built, this Mk III coupe was intended as a road-going alternative to earlier racing-bred GT40 models, like the original Mk I and 427-cubic-inch, Le Mans-dominating Mk II. Due to its street-legal intentions, the Ford GT40 Mk III boasted revised bodywork that allowed for some luggage and new headlights, along with a redesigned interior with left-hand-drive and a shifter in the normal, center position. The Mk III wasn't very popular when it was new in the 1960s, in part because it looked different from other GT40 models and because it was pretty expensive, but that just means it's an awfully rare gem today. Exceptionally rare '65 Ford GT40 Roadster prototype up for auction

Think of mid-engined supercars and your mind is bound to gravitate towards Europe, but the United States has been known to make a handful from time to time - exceptional vehicles from the likes of Vector, SSC, Mosler, Hennessey, and Saleen. But long before any of those came around, Ford famously became obsessed with beating Ferrari at its own game, leading to the development of the iconic GT40.
The story is well known, sending Ford to the checkered flag at Le Mans four times in a row in the late 1960s. Ford and Shelby also built over 100 for public consumption, but just four of them were roadsters. Of those only one remains in original condition, and now that exceedingly rare example going up for auction.
Consigned to RM Auctions for its mid-August sale during Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California, this 1965 model is the first GT40 Roadster built. It was used as a development and demonstration vehicle for Ford and Shelby. Carroll Shelby himself drove Henry Ford II in this very car during one of many test and demo events, this time held for Ford's board of directors in Los Angeles.

2015 Ford Edge holds line on pricing, starts at $28,100*

The Ford Edge gets an updated platform, bolder styling and a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine pumping out 245 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque for the 2015 model year. You might expect that all those new features would result in a big price bump, but you'd be wrong. Ford is keeping costs identical to the 2014 model with a starting MSRP of $28,100 (*plus an $895 destination charge), according to Edmunds. Ford spokesperson William Mattiace confirmed the numbers to Autoblog.
That's a pretty good deal, but the real ticket here might be the model's Sport trim. Buyers get a 2.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine with over 300 horsepower and standard adaptive steering for $28,600 plus destination. That's just $500 more than the base model.
Pricing for the Titanium trim has not yet been announced, but it'll be a short wait to find out. Mattiace tells Autoblog that full pricing and the configuration for the model will launch on November 5. He has also confirmed that the 2015 Edge will begin hitting dealers in the first quarter of 2015.
