2009 Ford Flex SEL AWD in VGC.  85,500 - daily driver so it will go up.  I have owned this Flex since it had 15,000 (4/2010).  All routine maintenance has been performed on time.  New in the last few months - front calipers, rotors, pads, rear rotors, pad, rear wheel hubs.  New Michelin tires less than a year ago.  Also includes four Bridgestone Blizzak snow/ice tires.  With the Bridgestones on and the Flex's AWD this car is amazing in the snow.  My wife drives it to work and on vacations so the miles are all highway.

Car is cinnamon (root beer) in color with tan leather interior.  It runs and drives without issue.  No funny noises or smells. Non-smoker.  Never any paint/body work. No rust.  There is a small chip in the windshield, out of the line of sight.  $300 to replace, and some rock chips on the front bumper. Clean and clear title.

Interior is tan leather and in very good condition.  Includes: power and heated seats, dual zone climate control, rear heat/ac, universal garage door opener, Sony 390 watt satellite radio, 12 speakers, cd changer, reverse sensing system.

Exterior is  cinnamon and in very good condition.  Includes: privacy glass, power sunroof, panoramic vista roof, keyless entry.

Safety: advance trac with rsc, side curtain airbags, driver/passenger air bags, safety canopy, auto headlights.

A great riding and driving car in very good condition.

KBB Private Party - Good $16,883.  Very Good $17,433.

Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.

Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems

Sun, 10 Mar 2013

The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:
