  • Offering for sale with no reserve is a 1964 Ford falcon ranchero. This car is 50 years old this year! The car needs restoration of all components. We had it running two years ago and drove it a couple miles but the torque converter seal is pouring fluid out of it so just parked it until we could get the time to put it in the shop and restore it or sell it. We are buried in work so it is time to get it to a different home where it will be taken care of. This came from south central Oklahoma just outside of Shawnee and has not been in wintry salt weather. It does have typical mudtrap lower rear quarter rust and floorboards from weatherstripping starting to leak. The inside bed would have been pretty good but they left and old blanket in the left rear corner and it stayed wet and rusted the bed through there before we purchased it.Tailgate has typical dents inside as does some of the rest of the interior of the bed. Rockers and lower front fenders appear to be o.k. Under the hood back by the hinges also appears to be good. The previous owner started to sand it and put red primer on it but that is fading and thinning away. Body actually is pretty straight with just some minor dings here and there. Bumpers and bright work need to be redone of course. Cannot buy much in complete old cars for my low starting price. The smaller cars appear to be having a surge in popularity probably due to gas mileage and so forth. It will be going up in value continuously so they do make good savings accounts. Most mechanical parts are shared with mustang and comets so parts are not a problem. We have approximately 140 old project/parts cars here at any given time.
  •  Selling with intention of needing restoration of rest of minor components.
  •  It has a good title.
  • The car can be stored here for up to 6 months - after that we will come up with a monthly fee.
  • Possible delivery if you are within 400 miles of central Kansas south or west for a fee.
  • If you have questions, please feel free to ask.
  • If you would like a better look at anything we can send more pictures.
  • We expect payment within 5 working days of the end of the auction.
  • See  our web site at win-trymotors dot com.

2015 Ford Expedition stays the course, adds EcoBoost power

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

The era of the body-on-frame, fullsize SUV is rapidly vanishing in favor of smaller, unibody crossovers. However, Ford still sees life in the segment with the reveal of the updated 2015 Expedition, now available (solely) with the company's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. The new truck will make its public debut at the 2014 DFW Auto Show in Dallas on February 19.
The loss of the previous 5.4-liter V8 in favor of Ford's 3.5-liter, direct-injected, twin-turbocharged V6 engine might rankle some of the Expedition's fans, but Ford claims that the change gives the SUV better fuel economy, more power and increased low-end torque than before. Unfortunately, official engine specifications won't be released until later this year, but Ford says engine output will be similar to the 365 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque that this powerplant produces in other applications. The EcoBoost is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and the SUV now uses electrically assisted power steering, for an even greater fuel economy advantage. Ford claims this also allows for better maneuverability at low speeds and better feel at high speeds.
Exterior styling is basically unchanged for 2015. The front end has the same three-bar chrome grille and headlight design, but the lower air dam gets added chrome and LED lamps. The rear gets more brightwork on the hatch, and there's a chrome-tipped exhaust pipe. As before, Ford is offering the Expedition in two wheelbase lengths - 119 inches and 131 inches. A new, optional, continuously controlled damping system alters suspension settings constantly based on 46 parameters and offers comfort, normal and sport modes (just like the Expedition's sister, the recently refreshed and decidedly less-attractive Lincoln Navigator).

Ford's simple suit makes you feel like a drunk driver

Tue, Mar 25 2014

We've all heard about the dangers of drunk driving for practically our entire lives. Whether it's from PSAs on TV or lectures in school, no one can claim ignorance of drunk driving being extremely dangerous. However, that doesn't prevent some people from still doing it. Ford is trying to take the safety message directly to young drivers with a special suit that allows them to simulate driving under the influence. It is all part of Ford's Driving Skills for Life program that gives free driving education to young people. The program is meant to "train kids in skills they don't learn in driver's ed," said Kelli Felker, Ford Safety Communications Manager, to Autoblog. The drivers don a few items to impair their senses and make them off-balance to simulate having a few too many drinks and then go out on a closed course with an instructor to see the effects. Felker said that the suit is a new part of the program, and Ford just received the outfit in the US. It will be incorporated into the training here in the late spring or early summer. Scroll down to see the effect it has on drivers in Europe. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.
