THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL. IT WAS OWNED BY AN OLDER GENTLEMAN WHO PASSED AWAY. HIS WIFE AND FAMILY NEEDS THE MONEY. I AM A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY THAT JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET. THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN REDONE BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS STRAIGHT OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR AND SO WAS THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE REST OF THE CAR IS ALL ORIGINAL. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN FIXED UP OVERTIME OR SOMETHING BUT I WAS WRONG. EVERYTHING IS ALL ORIGINAL AND IT ONLY HAS 15,000 ORIGINAL MILES. YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER ONE LIKE THIS. THIS IS MOST LIKELY THE VERY LAST LOW MILEAGE CAR OF THIS TYPE IN THIS CONDITION AND I FELT LIKE IT SHOULD BE OPEN TO COLLECTORS AND NOT JUST THE LOCALS. I AM PUTTING A RESERVE ON THE CAR. I COULD VERY WELL BUY THE CAR MYSELF BUT THE MORE MONEY THE FAMILY CAN GET, THE BETTER. ITS LIKE SITTING IN A NEW CAR FROM THE PAST. IT COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL 1964 LICENSE PLATE THAT HANGS FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. IT WAS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF, THAT'S PROBABLY AN UNDERSTATEMENT. THIS CAR WAS HIS BABY. IT HAS BEEN KEPT COVERED UP IN A GARAGE ASIDE FROM REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THE WINNING BIDDER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTING THE CAR WITHIN A WEEK OR SO AFTER THE AUCTION. Hennessey Ford GT sets 267.6-MPH record at Texas Mile [w/videos]
Mon, 25 Mar 2013The record-setting Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT we showed you at this time last year headed back to the Texas Mile and managed to bring home yet another record. As you may recollect, last year saw Mark Heidraker's machine sprint to a record 257.7 mph thanks to propulsion from its twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8. The big mill sucks down race gas, and this year the creation pulled off a 267.6-mph run over the weekend. That feat set a new record for the event. Something tells us neither Heidraker nor Hennessey are done squeezing more thrust from this machine.
This particular Ford GT has already gone through a number of permutations. Hennessey started by tweaking the factory supercharger set up before abandoning the blower in favor of two turbos. Since then, the crew has poked and prodded it to coerce as much grunt as possible out of the car. We expect Hennessey will probably come out with a video of the record-setting run shortly, but in the meantime, you can see a couple of videos of the car's runs in Texas below (one of which actually captures the record run). Thu, 22 May 2014Regardless of what you think of his skill as a racer, Ken Block is an expert showman. At this point, he has a career of showing up around the world to do vehicular stunts, and he's still able to go racing as well. It's a pretty sweet niche to carve out. Recently, Block was in Barbados to participate in Top Gear Live and the first event of the Global Rallycross Championship season, and Ford Racing produced a short video to show off his exploits.
It looked like a great show. Block got to race Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz Formula One car and had a very weird crash during a Rallycross race that put his Ford Fiesta on its roof. Top Gear also released an extended look at Block and Hamilton's spectacle with the two of them expertly sliding around. Ford adding stop-start to all major model lines
Sun, 24 Nov 2013Ford has gone all-in on its efforts to offer most of its new vehicles with a fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, but the automaker is reportedly preparing to take another big step toward improving vehicle efficiency. Automotive News is reporting that Ford will soon expand the availability of start-stop technology, which was first offered - presumably the first non-hybrid vehicle, that is - on the 2013 Fusion (equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine) as a $295 option.
The benefit of start-stop is reduced fuel consumption as it shuts the engine off at long stops, and AN quotes Ford as saying that drivers can save more than $1,000 on fuel costs over five years. Despite this, the option hasn't been popular on the Fusion thus far, but it could be more beneficial on bigger vehicles like the F-150. Ford also said that the next-gen Edge, which was previewed in concept form at the LA Auto Show, will be equipped with auto start-stop to help make the EcoBoost engines even more efficient.
