1970 1/2 Ford Falcon Not Fairlane Torino on 2040-cars

This Falcon is in very good condition mechanically as well as body. The 250 CI six runs well and the C4 automatic shifts great. This Fairlane based Falcon, though a six cylinder, does have five lug wheels. I bought the car last year from the original owner intending to install a big block V8 (V8 motor mounts are in the trunk) but I have too many projects and the drive train is really too nice to abandon anyway. The interior is in good shape but the front bench seat needs recovered as the driver's side is bad. Paint is good, as is, but the driver's door does not fit well. Maybe some adjustment would help. There's also a small dent, as shown in picture, at the top edge of the trunk lid. Rust is not an issue. I'm comfortable driving it anywhere and do often. The power steering makes this full size ride easy to maneuver. It's a great cruiser for a very low price as is, or could be turned into a hot rod if you choose. This model Falcon was only made the last five months of the 1970 model year so you won't see yourself coming and going like some other models. I've also inserted a picture of one of four 20" wheels I have from a 98 Mustang. Two of the tires are brand new and the other two have about half their life left. I'll include all four for an additional $500 if the buyer would like to have them. I haven't tried them on the car but think they'd fit. Ford updates Power Stroke diesel V8, strengthens F-450, tweaks King Ranch
Thu, 26 Sep 2013Ford is giving its F-Series Super Duty trucks some upgrades for 2015, and we're happy to say that one of them is an improved Power Stroke diesel V8. Also, Ford is strengthening the top-of-the-line F-450 to handle more abuse. And if wild west-style luxury is your thing, the automaker has performed minor cosmetic updates to its King Ranch Edition trucks, as well.
The turbocharged 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 is currently rated at 400 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque, and Ford only tells us the new and improved Power Stroke can "produce power beyond today's" engine. What, then, did Ford actually improve upon? First, the Blue Oval swapped in a new, larger turbocharger. The new Garrett GT37 turbine unit is 72.5 millimeters in diameter, eclipsing the old GT32's 64-mm diameter piece. Ford states output increases with the new turbo setup, but since the new turbocharger operates at a lower peak pressure than the old one, the automaker was able to eliminate the wastegate system and reduce the engine's complexity. Ford even redesigned the turbo's oil and cooling lines to make the powerplant simpler. A byproduct of the larger turbo is better engine exhaust braking, which is controlled manually by a button on the dashboard.
Ford claims the upgraded diesel engine is more powerful, more robust, more efficient and more refined than before.
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri
Mon, Sep 19 2016Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:
