1964 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible Factory 4 Speed Very Rare 289 D Code V8 on 2040-cars
Sylmar, California, United States
I purchased this 1964 Falcon Sprint as an original survivor. Several years ago, someone had painted it burgundy and its seats were tattered. I had it painted back to its original color, silver smokey gray. The seats and door panels were reupholstered with factory correct vinyl, trim and emblems from Dearborn Classics. Other than those cosmetic repairs, it remains original. The factory and dealer paperwork have long-since disappeared, so I had my local Ford dealership's classic car department look the car over and pull the starter to check the engine number. Unlike most manufacturers, back then Ford used only part numbers to identify car components and nothing [like a VIN number] to link those parts to a specific vehicle. The technician, after careful examination of the engine and under carriage, said he was confident this car still has its original engine, because of the consistency of the aging process and the characteristics of a factory installation. In the process of tracking down this engine block number [C40E6015C], I found something very interesting; this appears to be one of the those extremely rare Falcons that received a factory 289 CI engine; it's an early D Code [a very rare 289 performance engine option, manufactured from March through May of 1964]. The fact that this engine is so rare makes it even more probable that it is the original engine from the factory. It seems highly unlikely that of the millions of 289 Ford engines produced, an engine swap made years later would be a D code built in April of 1964. If any of the previous owners had changed the engine from a 260 to a 289, they certainly would have mentioned it as a major selling-point. Other features of this beautiful driver are: Holley 4 barrel carburetor on an Edelbrock intake manifold, a factory 4 speed with a Hurst shifter, new aluminum radiator and new set of radial tires. Vehicle sold as is. Once the money is received in full, I will release the car to its new owner. Winner of this auction is responsibile for shipping. Car is located in 91342, CA. I pulled my phone number down due to spam. If you have questions, write them below in the question select. I will answer your questions as soon as I can. If you need further assistance, email me your phone number and I will call you. It's a great car and everyone always says so. Whether it's a thumbs up or "nice car" it's definitely an eye catcher. Thank you and good luck with the auction! |

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Sat, Jan 21 2023Ford's now-defunct Mercury Division first began using the Marquis name in 1967, on a sporty full-size hardtop based on the Ford LTD, then began offering the Grand Marquis beginning in the 1979 model year. These big, boxy luxury sedans were replaced by big, curvy luxury sedans (on the same platform) starting with the 1992 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem is one of the very last squared-off Grand Marquises ever built. The 1991 Grand Marquis (or "Grandma Keith," as many refer to it today) looks nearly identical to its 1979 predecessor at a glance, just as the 2011 model doesn't differ much from the 1992 model. Ford saw no reason to follow short-lived fashion trends with its simple, sturdy rear-wheel-drive sedan. Only two Grand Marquis trim levels were available for 1991: the base GS and the (somewhat) upscale LS. The former listed at $18,741 and the latter at $19,241, which comes to about $41,494 and $42,601, respectively, in inflated 2022 dollars). This interior would have seemed comfortingly familiar to a 1968 (or even 1958) Mercury owner time-traveling to 1991. This is the optional "full grain leather seating surface," which cost an extra $489 (about $1,083 today). Dig those opera lights! Air conditioning was standard equipment in the 1991 Grand Marquis and its wagon counterpart, the Colony Park. The engine is the good old pushrod 5.0-liter Windsor V8, which would be replaced by a far more modern 4.6-liter SOHC mill in the '92 Grand Marquis. This engine was rated at 180 horsepower. A four-speed automatic was the only transmission available. The early 1990s ended up being the last gasp for padded vinyl roofs being considered mainstream equipment on new Detroit cars; this one was called the "Formal Coach" roof and cost an additional 725 bucks ($1,605 now). Such roofs were still available on a few cars later in the decade, but their time had passed. Why would such a clean Grandma Keith end up in a place like this? That's easy: it got T-boned directly into the right front wheel, mangling the body and bending up the suspension. This damage might have been worth fixing when the car was five years old, but it's a write-off when it happens to a 31-year-old Ford Panther. 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis Commercial - Savings Ad The granddaddy of them all, and on sale in South Texas! Ford hiring 800 more salaried workers than originally expected
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Ford is on a roll this year, with excellent quarterly earnings and better-than-expected vehicle sales leading to 800 more job opportunities with the Blue Oval. In January, Ford announced that it wanted to hire 2,200 salaried employees, but, since then, that figure has been revised to 3,000, representing a 36-percent increase over original projections. About 1,500 of those jobs remain, 80 percent of which are technical professional positions.
"Engineers and technical professionals are in as much demand as our cars, trucks and SUVs," says Felicia Fields, Ford Group Vice President for Human Resources. Helping to spur this job growth are increasing market share on both the West and East Coast and robust demand for the Ford Escape and F-150.
To find job candidates, Ford is reaching out to them via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, in addition to the company's corporate career site. The Blue Oval is also ramping up its presence on college campuses.
FL man fatally shot after urging driver not to do donuts in a Mustang
Tue, 18 Nov 2014Bradley Holt (pictured), the older half-brother of University of South Florida freshman quarterback Quinton Flowers, was killed in a random act of violence last week.
The 24-year-old Holt was throwing a football around with local kids in Allapattah, a neighborhood in Miami, when a yellow Mustang showed up and started doing donuts in the street. Holt, worried about kids playing in front his apartment complex, walked over to the driver and asked him why he was "driving so crazy with so many kids out here?"
The driver left. Holt's sister said the driver came back "about 15 to 20 minutes later" and fired two shots at Holt. One of them hit Holt in the back of the head, killing him.
