Anyone familiar with the Humphrey Bogart movie "The Maltese Falcon" knows this famous line from the end of the picture. Well, this little Falcon is also the stuff dreams are made of! What we have here is a rare 1964 Falcon Futura with the original 260 V8 engine and 4 on the floor stick shift. It sports brand new white paint, and it runs as good as it looks.
Some of us remember a time when you could march down to your local car dealer and order exactly the car you wanted! That is what the owner of this car did! He wanted a high-performance hard-top, so he optioned this car for everything the Sprint package offered, minus the side moldings and Sprint badges. As a result, this is a rare car. According to the Falcon Registry, there were only 235 of these cars made, and having a V8, 4 speed stick, with bucket seats and no console makes it almost one-of-a-kind. Even more rare is that it still has the original 260 V8 engine. Most of these engines are long-gone, everyone wanted a 302! But the Ford 260 V8 has an amazing history in the auto world. This was the same engine found in the early "64 1/2" Mustangs, as Ford had not yet introduced the 289, not until later in '64. It was also the first engine Carroll Shelby used in his famous Shelby Cobra! And who can forget the car driven by Secret Agent Maxwell Smart from the TV show "Get Smart"? It was a Sunbeam Tiger with a 260! This was another hybrid car designed by Carroll Shelby that featured a hot-blooded American V8- the 260. For an engine that was produced for less than 2 years, it has an amazing pedigree!
Many fans of nostalgia drag-racing know of the notorious Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt. The white bodies, Thunderbolt lettering, and distinctive bubble hood scoop of these factory production racers are its best characteristic, while boasting a huge 427 FE engine and dual 4 barrel carbs. These legendary dragsters are highly sought-after. Even clones are commanding huge prices, at public auctions and on ebay. So this little Falcon- with its fresh white paint, hot 260 motor, stick-shift, and bubble hood scoop are reminiscent of a mini- Thunderbolt! At a fraction of the price!
Now dont go ordering a 347 stroker, this Falcon is truly a Show and Go car! The 260 in this trick little rocket is built! A hot cam, Edelbrock aluminum intake, and Holley 650 carb make it fast! Traction bars keep it straight, and the front end and brakes are tight. And if you decide to run some passes at the next nostalgia drag race, you can un-cork the headers with the trick threaded-pipe cut-out exhaust! See the photo! And also notice the aluminum driveshaft!
This car offers the best of both worlds- old-school looks, original engine and transmission, but with new paint and modern upgrades! Its a fast car that is fun to drive!
I have to mention that it currently has a T 5 transmission in it, which makes it a better hi-way cruiser because of the overdriven 5th gear. But I do have the original Borg Warner T 10- which has been re-built- to be included with the sale (No, the Ford top-loader trans wasnt introduced til later in '64!)
*The underbody is rust free and solid. This is a rust-free southern car- sold in Atlanta Georgia.
*Headers and full exhaust from front to rear.
*The interior is original and in very good condition.
*The car is fully street-legal.
I have tried to describe this nice little car to the best of my ability. I do have a clear notarized Kentucky title. The car is currently in Kentucky, zip code is 42066 if you wish for a test drive or inspection, or to calculate transportation.
This is your chance to own a rare piece of American high-performance car history!
This Falcon is sure to appreciate, while you enjoy owning and driving it!

Ford profiles surprisingly affluent Focus ST buyers
Fri, 08 Nov 2013It comes as no surprise when Ford says that 32-percent of Focus ST buyers are under 35, but we weren't expecting this: the average annual salary of Focus ST buyers is $127,000. Twenty-two percent of non-ST Focus buyers are under 35, while their average annual salary is $67,000.
We like the Focus ST because it has 252 horsepower, is genuinely fun to drive and offers great value for performance-minded car enthusiasts; facts that are not lost on customers, it seems. Ford says that the Focus ST has the highest percentage of conquest sales for a non-hybrid model it sells, and that the top-four trade-ins are from Honda, Chevrolet, Mazda and Toyota. Demand for the hot Focus is strongest in Los Angeles, Detroit, Houston and Orlando.
"[The Focus ST is] having this kind of halo effect for other vehicles we'd hoped for when we invested in the ST brand," says John Felice, vice president of US marketing, sales and service, because it's helping to boost sales of other Ford vehicles.
Ford sells 7-millionth Explorer in America
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Say what you will about the evolution of the Ford Explorer, from roofed Ranger to body-on-frame sport utility vehicle to unibody crossover - the bottom line is that it's been a tremendously successful model for Ford. In fact, the Blue Oval automaker has sold seven million Explorer models in the United States alone.
The milestone, marked nearly a quarter-century after the introduction of the original in 1990, comes on the eve of the introduction of a new Explorer at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. We don't yet know how the new Explorer will shape up, but we're mere days away from finding out.
Now heading into its sixth generation, the Explorer has formed the basis of Ford's utility lineup for over two decades. The Explorer landed on the market right around the time that the Bronco was trailing off, predating the company's expansion into larger SUVs like the Expedition and Excursion and crossovers like the Escape, Edge and Flex.
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
