1963 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible
Original V8/4spd Manual Trans. Black Plate Car

I am pleased to offer this relatively low mileage 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible. Original V8 4spd. Manual Trans. A rather uncommon vehicle (only 4600 made in '63), this Sprint has a long history in the San Francisco Bay Area and has no major issues other than having being rehabilitated from a 20 year slumber. This Falcon was purchased from the original owner, and due to a shift in priorities, it is now available to the market. As a life-long West Coast car from a dry climate, it is as original, straight, and as solid as they come, without accidents. All sheet metal is original and straight, having excellent panel fit/gaps throughout. Sporting blue paint, it appears it had one repaint over the original for cosmetic purposes only. This car is exceptionally original and damage free showing only minimal wear. The car runs and drives well. The interior has not been abused with a few rips, and the top will need to be replaced. The engine bay is clean and correct. The car has been lightly driven since I've owned it and all systems are working properly. It is sold with a clear California title. Offered at a very fair reserve.

Mechanicals:
This car has very good mechanicals since all major components are in correct working order. The original 260 cu. in. 2V engine starts very easily, runs quietly and smoothly. It does not smoke and has good compression. The original 4spd. gearbox is quiet in all gears and shifts smoothly. The car is very smooth at speed. The car responds quickly and accurately to all driver inputs. The brake system is in good order and the car stops well. The carb does not appear to be original.

Body, Paint, and Chrome:
This car has received a complete repaint in blue years ago for cosmetic purposes; it appears to be a shade off the original Midnight Blue. The paint is in decent shape and shows minimal wear; a few small chips here and there, and light scale from sitting under a car cover in a carport. The car has excellent eye appeal and always attracts admirers. It is extremely original. This Falcon has never had any serious panel damage or chassis damage, nor rust. Since the car has not had any adverse history and has such good body panels, the panel fit is excellent. The floors, torque boxes, rockers and quarter panels are rust free other than slight discoloration from air. The chrome shows age, has minor pitting, and is in decent condition. All lenses are present and in good vintage condition. The windshield and glass are great.

Interior:
The entire interior is original and correct. All gauges are functional and working correctly. The dash mounted tachometer is not present and did not come with the car. It is the only piece missing. The bucket seats show some age commiserate with use and have very rips. The carpet is old but not ratty. The top will need to be replaced as it has rips but it is complete and has not been abused.

Wheels and Tires:
The original matched set of steel wheels are clean and straight. All hubcaps are original and in very good shape. The car exhibits no shimmy or shake at speed. The Goodyear thin white wall tires are old and hold air but should be replaced.

Summaration:
This Falcon Sprint Convertible is a great little driver and pretty rare. It is extremely original and an honest car showing only wear from years of sitting under a car cover in a carport. It has only cosmetic issues and is a survivor. It runs like a top and is very smooth and strong in all aspects. This particular car has a consistent fit and finish throughout and will maintain it's quality for years to come.

Ford Australia reveals updated Territory, Falcon via Twitter

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Ford may have tied together much of its global lineup under the One Ford campaign, but one market where it still offers unique products is Australia. That will soon draw to a close as well, but before it does, the Blue Oval's Aussie operations are rolling out refreshed versions of its two unique products. For the moment, Ford isn't revealing much in the way of powertrain details, but it has shown off a couple of snaps of the revised products on its in-market Twitter feed.
First up is the new Territory. The SUV is neither based on a front-drive crossover platform nor on a truck frame, but shares its rear-drive underpinnings with the Falcon, taking it a step beyond the Falcon wagon alongside which it sits in Ford's Aussie range. Like the outgoing third-generation SZ Territory, the facelifted version is dominated by a narrow grille and larger front air dam, but further punctuates its big-chinned look with more rugged lower cladding and other metallic inserts that bring its look up to date.
And there's the Falcon, which Ford revealed in XR8 trim just last week and is now presenting in G6E spec. If the XR8 is the performance model, the G6E is the luxury version, swapping in more refined trim like a chrome-slat grille (instead of a black honeycomb), chrome foglamp surrounds, less-aggressive multi-spoke wheels (instead of five-spokes) and a flatter hood (instead of a power bulge). Otherwise, it looks essentially the same as the one we saw last week, its facelift bringing it more in line with the smaller, front-drive Mondeo (which we know here as the Fusion) and other members of the Ford family.

Weekly Recap: Ferrari, Ford and Porsche power up for Geneva

Sat, Feb 7 2015

Monday was Groundhog Day. Tuesday, apparently, was Sports Car Day. The Ferrari 488 GTB, the Ford Focus RS and the Porsche Cayman GT4 all debuted within hours of each other ahead of their rollouts at the Geneva Motor Show. Three sporty machines, three vastly different approaches – and a lot of implications for enthusiasts. That's a day worth repeating. It also illustrates the opportunities automakers see in the performance market, which is expected to grow in the coming years. Ford estimates the segment has expanded 14 percent in Europe and surged 70 percent in North America since 2009. The Detroit Auto Show was evidence of this, and performance cars of every stripe debuted, including the Acura NSX, Ford GT, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider and several others. This isn't a fad. Performance cars aren't going away. The question is why? Stricter CAFE standards are looming in the United States, as are tighter emissions regulations in Europe. And no one expects gas prices to remain low in America. None of this matters for sports cars, and automakers are increasingly using them to elevate their images. That's why Dodge rolled out two 707-horsepower Hellcats last year. It's why Ford has decided to resurrect the GT for road and track. It's why in the depths of bankruptcy, General Motors continued work on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, not to mention the Z06. "Great brands are made one car at a time," Ford of Europe president Jim Farley said at the reveal of the Focus RS. Still, companies make those cars for different reasons. View 5 Photos Mainstream brands like Ford and Dodge want to build cars that get people talking, excite their bases and drive more potential customers into the showroom. They probably don't buy a Focus RS or a Hellcat, but suddenly the regular Focus hatch looks a bit hotter, and that V6 Charger seems to be just a touch more muscular. The halo of performance is alive and well in the eyes of automakers and their customers. "It's one of the most effective catalysts for ingenuity and innovation," said Joe Bakaj, vice president of product development for Ford of Europe. That also leads to a trickle-down effect. Some of the technologies inevitably make their way to other products. It's hard to think the new all-wheel-drive system in the Focus RS that distributes torque front to rear and side to side won't be used in other vehicles. It's different for Ferrari and Porsche.

Ford rakes in record $2.5b profit during Q1 of 2016

Thu, Apr 28 2016

Fears that the auto industry is due for a downturn may be fading. Ford posted record profits in the first quarter of 2016, the company announced Thursday. Chief financial officer Bob Shanks said Ford enjoyed its best quarterly performance in history, generating operating profits of $3.8 billion and a record profit margin of 9.8 percent. Overall, the company's $2.5 billion profit in the quarter more than doubled from the 2015 quarterly results. "The first quarter was an absolutely terrific start to the year, an all-time record for the company, with very strong performance across the business," said chief executive officer Mark Fields. "We're excited about our future and confident in our ability to deliver long-term growth and profitability as we expand our business model to be both an auto and a mobility company." During the quarter, Ford announced the creation of Ford Smart Mobility, a new subsidiary that would vet future mobility projects in the realm of car-sharing, fractional ownership and autonomous deployment. The company also kicked off a billion-dollar makeover of its Dearborn, Michigan campus and headquarters. The company's after-tax earnings of $0.68 per share trumped Wall Street's expectations, and were significantly up from $0.39 per share a year ago. The results were buoyed by the company's fourth consecutive quarter of growth in Europe, which comes after a long period of stagnant sales. Ford's earnings results come amid reports that April car sales are on pace to jump 4 percent year over year, which would make it the best-selling April in history. Kelley Blue Book projects that car sales will reach 1.51 million this month, placing the industry on track for 17.5 million vehicles sold in 2016. Even as SUV and crossover sales drive the market, analysts say Nissan and Honda are positioned to benefit from renewed interest in mid-size cars. "Following a disappointing March, we expect sales to get back on track in April with SAAR in the mid-17 million range," said Tim Fleming, analyst for Kelley Blue Book. "Increased fleet sales and rising incentive spending among automakers remain the factors to watch, but the retail demand appears to be holding steady, signaling the industry's strong run isn't over quite yet."
