Gleaming 1937 Ford Coupe All Steel A Very High Quality Award Winning Masterpiece on 2040-cars
Huntington, New York, United States
1937 FORD COUPE VIN: SD9283F THERE OVER 200 HUGE IMAGES OF THIS STUNNING CAR SHOWN BELOW! DESCRIPTION: This auction is for an amazing 1937 FORD Coupe that defies written descriptions, but with the help of hundreds of photos, we'll give it a try. This gorgeous car was professionally built, it is ALL steel, and it is a masterpiece of quality. It was constructed with the most intricate and detailed workmanship imaginable. Major modifications began with the fitting of Tudor sedan doors (that are 6" longer than stock) on hidden hinges and the tipping of the "B" posts forward to enhance the look. The rear quarters were lowered, custom running boards were fabricated and raked forward to match the modified lower edges on the front fenders. The roof has been welded and leaded in place and enhanced with a custom shaped rain gutter. In addition, a special rear roll pan was designed and constructed. The remaining stock body sheet metal was all carefully straightened by old school spot heating and quenching resulting in arrow straight panels and almost no filler. The exterior of the car speaks for itself, and the powerful blown big block engine was designed for high performance while drinking only pump grade fuels. The transmission is a modified 400 Turbo and it ends up at a full Mark Williams 9" Ford rear end. It is cooled by an oversize Griffin radiator and 16" SPAL fan and that is augmented by another water cooler and fan under the car (see images)! The brilliant stainless steel 3" exhaust system has .060" walls and the left and right side are mirrored imaged from the headers to the custom polished stainless wrapped Flow Master mufflers exiting centered out the back of the car. Another really trick feature is the linear actuated exhaust cutouts located at the end of the collectors along with front and rear license plates that instantly disappear under the car at the touch of a button. The extra tidy trunk space is taken up by a pair of boxed batteries and a custom 21 gallon fuel tank all of which was neatly upholstered. The graphics and paint scheme came from Thom Taylor who supplied concept drawings prior to the build. The underside and exterior of the coupe are finished with House of Kolors base and clear coats, Silver White Pearl, Kosmic Kandy Purple and Hot Pink Pearl. The graphics inspired cloth interior is beautifully detailed and fitted with high quality wool carpets. The 12 point full roll cage and Pyrotech 5-point harnesses work to keep occupants safe and secure in the event of a mishap. To help illustrate the level of detail in this project, the harnesses were taken apart to facilitate the chroming of the hardware and then sent back to Pyrotech to be stitched back together! Doors open remotely from a chromed mechanical arm hidden under the floorboards and a rear view mirror articulates out of the open drivers window from inside, if needed. The car is a real pleasure to drive because it behaves well and is easy to operate. The engine temperature is in the normal range under all conditions. There is a remotely controlled Sony 10 disc CD player with 4 speakers, Cerullo GT seats, Auto Meter pro comp gauges in a removable dash section and power windows. There is a breakdown list below of most of what went into building this treasure, and at the end of our dozens of current images, there is also a lengthy archival photo review to help illustrate the extent of the work in this coupe. The ONLY nit that we were able to pick on the entire car is some barely noticeable bubbling of the paint between the rear pan and the body below the trunk, that's it. This car is used on rare occasion, always garaged and exceptionally well cared for. For every trick thing that you can see on this car, there are 10 more bonus ideas and items that you really need to search for. You can stare at and study the workmanship for hours and still be amazed. The full photo and parts inventory history comes with the car as will CAD drawings of many of the custom parts, detailed wiring diagrams and many other extras. There are two different sets of engine side panels (shown hanging on the wall). BODY Modifications: 1937 FORD Coupe, All Steel. Ford gets out of car subscriptions, sells Canvas to rival Fair
Tue, Sep 17 2019Ford says it’s selling its Canvas subscription service to competitor Fair, getting out of the subscription game after less than three years. Terms of the deal were not announced. Ford acquired Canvas in 2016 as a wholly-owned subsidiary based in San Francisco as a service to pilot subscriptions to Ford and Lincoln vehicles, eventually rolling out to Los Angeles and Dallas. The company said it had amassed around 3,800 subscribers in that time, who will have the opportunity to join Fair when their current subscriptions end and will receive more information from both subscription companies. But that number pales in comparison with Santa Monica, California-based Fair, which claims more than 45,000 subscriptions in 30 markets since launching in 2017. Ford was always fairly quiet about Canvas, and Automotive News last year reported that Lincoln executives expressed surprise over soft demand, saying that subscribers were looking for short-term solutions and often dropped out after just a few months. Ford is also in cost-cutting mode under CEO Jim HackettÂ’s $11 billion restructuring plan. The Blue Oval joins Cadillac, which put its $1,800-a-month Book By Cadillac subscription service on ice late last year, citing higher costs and fewer customers than expected. Cadillac has pledged to eventually relaunch the service as a pilot in select cities, but mumÂ’s been the word since. More recently, VolvoÂ’s Care by Volvo subscription service has come under scrutiny from dealers and an investigation from the California Department of Motor Vehicles and has made changes to its program. Thought it also has added the XC60, XC90 and V60 to the list of available vehicles. Fair touts itself as a “commitment-free” solution, with all-inclusive plans covering 24-7 roadside assistance, routine maintenance, insurance and other perks. It uses a mobile app to get customers prequalified, and it analyzes their eligibility and targets an affordable range of monthly payments. Customers then shop for cars and sign up for one via an initial payment that ranges by vehicle type, with the ability to keep the cars as long as they want and drop the service at any time. It peddles used cars from more than 30 different brands, none more than six years old or with more than 70,000 miles on the odometer. Fair on Tuesday announced it has raised $500 million in loans from a group of creditors, including Mizuho Bank and Japan's SoftBank, as it looks to expand its leasing services to Uber drivers.
Introducing the 1965 Ford Mustang
Sat, 24 Aug 2013Put on your space suits and diving bell helmets, for it's time to step into a time capsule. The 50th anniversary of a historic model, like, say, the Porsche 911 this year, is certain to bring flights of nostalgia. This historical trip with the 1965 Mustang, though - preliminary hype for next year's anniversary, we know - is a swell museum exhibit for anyone who enjoys bygone days of the automobile.
Lee Iaccoca gave a speech to motoring journalists on April 1, 1964 at the New York World's Fair to introduce a sporty car for younger drivers. His opening line: "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to one of the proudest moments of our lives." The company was so excited by what it had made that the Mustang was Ford's first "International Press Introduction," being introduced to some 2,000 journos around the world on the same day in the US and 11 European cities. Even through its difficult points, no one at the time could have known how well the Mustang would acquit that pride.
After the intro, the press drove Mustangs 750 miles from New York to Dearborn, MI, reading press kits that touted features like the "vertical, three-sectional taillights/turn signals," "170" six-cylinder engine with 101 horsepower and the available Cruise-O-Matic transmission.
Ford Mustang Mach-E fails Sweden's moose test
Wed, Sep 29 2021The infamous moose test has claimed another casualty. This time it's the Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Long Range, which was tested in an electric four-way alongside the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Skoda Enyaq iV (an electric utility vehicle closely related to the Volkswagen ID.4 that is sold in the United States). According to the Swedish testers at Teknikens Varld, Ford's electric car not only failed to hit the speed necessary for a passing grade, it didn't perform well at slower speeds, either. To pass the outlet's moose test, a car has to complete a rapid left-right-straight S-shaped pattern marked by cones at a speed of at least 72 km/h (44.7 miles per hour). The test is designed to mimic the type of avoidance maneuver a driver would have to take in order to avoid hitting something that wandered into the road, which in Sweden may be a moose but could just as easily be a deer or some other member of the animal kingdom elsewhere in the world, or possibly a child or car backing into the motorway. Not only is the maneuver very aggressive, it's also performed with weights belted into each seat and more weight added to the cargo area to hit the vehicle's maximum allowable carrying capacity. The Mustang Mach-E only managed to complete the moose test at 68 km/h (42.3 mph), well below the passing-grade threshold. Even at much lower speeds, Teknikens Varld says the Mach-E (which boasts the highest carrying capacity and was therefore loaded with more weight than the rest of the vehicles tested in this quartet) is "too soft in the chassis" and suffers from "too slow steering." Proving that it is indeed possible to pass the test, the Hyundai and Skoda completed the maneuver at the 44.7-mph figure required for a passing grade and the Tesla did it at 46.6 mph, albeit with less weight in the cargo area. It's not clear whether other versions of the Mustang Mach-E would pass the test. It's also unknown if Ford will make any changes to its chassis tuning or electronic stability control software, as some other automakers have done after a poor performance from Teknikens Varld, to improve its performance in the moose test.
