This is a gorgeous 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 two door hardtop. It is a turquoise and white, one of a kind, top to bottom off-frame restoration. I have to sell it for some health reasons.

Everything is new or restored all the way down to the stainless steel nuts, bolts, and washers. All the front end parts, frame, back plates, driveline, rear end, fender wall, and rims, were powder coated. Entire body was sand blasted and coated with baked on epoxy primer and painted with two stage paint. The car has green LED lights that shine down on the hub caps and has programmable green LED lights that shine down on the street, it is absolutely gorgeous at night! Has a hi-tech stereo mounted in the glovebox for a great sound, but still has original radio mounted on dash for classic look.

Under the hood is a completely rebuilt 390 with 3/4 cam producing over 350 horsepower! It has a three speed totally rebuilt automatic transmission with higher gears added to completely rebuilt rear end. I have won two best in show, one best in ten, and one most original award this year and I have less than 3500 miles into this car.

For more info call Gayle at 916-955-7714. Located in Pollock Pines, CA.

P.S. This 1958 Ford has the original upholster supplied by Baron Bonney Co. and installed by Premier Upholsters in Sacramento, very high quality worksmanship. All finish work by Roseville Rod and Custom in Roseville, glass work done by Kidells Glass of Orangevale, chrome by AAA Plating in North Sacramento, sandblasting and epoxy primer by Class A Powdercoating, upholstery by Premier Auto Upholstery, mechanical work, wiring, and accessories installed by D&L Automotive of North Highlands, stereo installation by Anthony's Stereo Systems of North Highlands, and rear end rebuild by Gearhead North Highlands.

All the shops that reasembled this 58 are all very popular shops who do excellent work. They are people I know and I have very high recommendations for. They display numerous awards for their worksmanship. This 1958 is better than any vehical that came off the assembly line. I have pictures of the tear down and the reassembly of the restoration and will pass those along to the new owner along with trophies aquired this last year.

Ford blimp crashes inside Portland Trail Blazers arena

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Portland basketball fans got a free, very safe recreation of the Hindenburg disaster when a Ford airship crashed into the stands during a game between the Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers. Reportedly no one was hurt, but arena staff trying to push the inflatable vehicle through a hole it was too big for, made for some fantastic video and photos. This content is hosted by a third party. The first gives an idea of just how hard it was to fit the blimp through the exit of the arena, and the second is a time-lapse look from someone right next to the action. All these clips need is Yakety Sax as background music for some true Internet gold. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Swedish car mag says Ford Mondeo is dangerously, illegally overweight [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Sweden's Teknikens Varld has a reputation for being very persnickety when it comes to auto safety testing, and its latest catch is the Mondeo Titanium Estate 2.0 TDCi 150 bhp S6 MPS (basically a station wagon variant of the Fusion). In addition to the model's mile-long name, it has another problem according to the Swedes, because its weight on the scales does not equal the official numbers for the vehicle. Teknikens Varld claims the wagon is dangerously overweight because it weighs in 4,145 pounds, while Ford officially lists its weight at 3,530 pounds. That 615-pound disparity means that if a family loads it to what they think is the model's gross vehicle weight, it will actually be too heavy, and therefore illegal to drive in Sweden. According to the magazine, when it tried doing this, the rear wheels scraped against the wells, and the estate failed the mag's legendary moose test. However, at 220 pounds over the limit, it passed the test. When reached for comment by Autoblog, Jay Ward, Senior Manager at Ford of Europe Product Communications, explained the reason for the deviation between the official numbers and the magazine's test: "We are aware of this, but this is not an issue that relates specifically to the safety of the Mondeo, but is in fact related to the way in which the cars are tested by the authorities. We provided an Ambiente model for the testing but the car that featured in the magazine test was a Titanium model which has a different weight. We are in discussion with the Swedish Transport Agency to change the framework so the real weight of the Titanium model is reported instead of the Ambiente model which will resolve the issue." Teknikens Varld is well-known for calling out automakers for perceived transgressions. Most recently it leveled criticisms against the all-wheel drive system in the Honda CR-V, and both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Porsche Macan failed its moose test. Scroll down for the magazine's video of weighing the Mondeo Estate and the model's test results. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The new Ford Mondeo is dangerously overweight The new Ford Mondeo is a great car, which Teknikens Varld's test shows, but there is one problem – the weight. Mondeo weighs 279 kg more than Ford claims. With big load (ie family plus luggage) the car therefore becomes illegal to drive.

Ford board OK with Mulally stepping down earlier

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

Ford's board is open to CEO Alan Mulally stepping down before his planned departure in 2014, inside sources are telling Reuters. Ford's plan of succession, aside from who would be his actual successor, has been something approaching common knowledge - the 68-year-old former Boeing exec had plans to stay through 2014. This was recently confirmed by Mulally himself on Bloomberg Television and in Automotive News.
Motivation for the about-face comes from what Reuters calls a "growing confidence" in the current crop of Ford execs, led by Mark Fields. Fields, Ford's current chief operating officer, has been tipped as Mulally's ultimate successor, although he's far from the only person with eyes on Ford's top job. Normally, Ford's board saying they're open to an executive, that's done very well for the company, stepping down early would be nearly unremarkable. It's the timing of this announcement, though, that makes this a big piece of news.
Recently, Mulally has been the subject of rumors that he's interested in taking the CEO position at tech giant Microsoft. The Redmond, Washington-based company's CEO, Steve Ballmer, told the media in August that he'd be retiring in a year's time. The fires were stoked when tech website AllThingsD speculated that Mulally would take the top spot, despite denials from the man himself. Could Ford's current boss become the new top dog at Microsoft? Will Mark Fields replace him? Could recently departed Renault exec Carlos Tavares land at Ford in some capacity? Let us know what you think below in Comments.
