1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Formal Hardtop 2 Door Classic! In Great Original Cond. on 2040-cars
Midland, Georgia, United States
I have a rare and hard to find 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Formal Hardtop for sale. This rare 68 beauty is all original and unmolested (other than a re-paint) It only has 101k miles and RUNS, DRIVES and HANDLES absolutely amazing! The original 302 runs extremely strong. No smoke, no leaks, and appears to have been built at some point. It has dual exhaust and sounds awesome! It has been well maintained mechanically as you'll see when you drive it. It has new tires. Brakes have been re-done and stop the car very well. It does not have power brakes or power steering but the brakes work so well you wouldn't know they aren't power. THIS IS an original A/C car and all the components are there. The fan will blow but the compressor does not come on. I can't stress enough how great this car runs and drives! This car is VERY ROAD WORTHY and needs nothing mechanically! Drive it anywhere! I would consider this car a "sleeper". Put on some nice looking vintage style sporty wheels and tires and that would top it off! In fact, I took the Magnum 500 Wheels and tires off my 66 Mustang Fastback and put on the Fairlane. I took some pictures to show what it would like like. See the pics! I will sell the Magnum 500 Wheels with Cooper Cobra Tires in GREAT condition separately for an additional $700 THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. The interior is in really nice condition and all original except the headliner...It's new. The carpet is original and only faded slightly in the sun exposed areas. The seat upholstery looks very nice for its age but does have a couple of tears in the driver seat area. One small tear in the center of driver area and then a larger tear in a "not so visible" area in the corner. The dash looks nice as well. All the components in the dash work. The only thing missing is the original radio. It has an aftermarket radio installed and mounted under the dash so no holes were cut. Door panels look good but do have some fading The trunk area is all original and in good condition. No rot or rust anywhere in the trunk. Still has the original spare tire mounted in its place with the jack. It appears the fuel tank has been replaced at some point. The exterior of the car has been repainted at some point in the past. Although the pictures make the car look very nice (and it really does!) there are few areas where the paint has chipped and one area where the newer paint has flaked off. There is VERY MINIMAL rust in this car. What rust is there is only surface and would certainly not require any metal replacement by any means. THIS IS A SOLID CAR! Floor pans are solid! The car appears to have had some minor body work near the tail lights and it does look like the bondo has began to crack. Very minor but it you were going to ever re-paint the car I would recommend fixing that at the same time. The body molding around the car have a few dings here and there but still look ok. The car itself is very straight and no dings to speak of. This is a great driver quality car! Keep and enjoy it as is or would be an easy and affordable restoration. The car is originally from Texas. In fact I have the original Texas TITLE from 1968. This title is not transferable. The car will be sold with a Bill of Sale only. Please call or text 706-325-4360 if you have questions. |

Ford bringing 10 custom Transit Connects to SEMA
Tue, 29 Oct 2013With 57 vehicles planned for its SEMA display, it comes as little surprise that Ford has plenty of teasers for its show cars. After showing us what it has in store for the Mustang, Fiesta and Focus ST, now we're getting a look at some of the custom creations based on the redesigned 2014 Transit Connect van.
These nine Transit Connects are decked out to various degrees of customization, but our favorite might be the chopped and lowered Transit Connect from Mob Steel (shown above), which has a similar slammed stance that we see on some custom VW Buses. On the opposite extreme, LGE & CTS Motorsports has jacked up a Transit Connect to make a Cross Country cruiser that we wouldn't mind taking on a road trip.
There are seven other teasers from various companies, and you can check them all out in the gallery above or in the press release below. Ford is also promising a tenth Transit Connect for SEMA, so stay tuned for that as well.
Hertz goes Dutch with Ford Focus ST-H
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Want to take a performance car for a ride? Hertz can make that happen. Spin by your local rental location (depending, of course, on availability) and you can take out a Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, even a Corvette as part of the Adrenaline Collection. Hertz's Dream Cars lineup even includes Porsches and AMGs. But the really interesting stuff is what you can't get anywhere else: cars built specifically for Hertz.
Back in 1966, Hertz had Ford cook up a special run of Mustang GT350H models in back with gold stripes. It became an icon in and of itself, and in 2008 Hertz had a new batch of Shelby GT-Hs made. Earlier this year, Hertz contracted Penske to deliver another fleet of specially-built Mustangs you can rent. But if your travel plans include a trip to the Netherlands, Hertz has a completely different type of specially-prepared Ford on offer for you.
Back in August, Ford delivered a couple of Focus STs made specifically for Hertz in Holland. Now it's expanded that fleet even further. The Ford Focus ST-H features the same 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo four (and everything else) as the standard Focus ST, but gets that signature black exterior with gold stripes and a black leather interior with Recaro buckets. So in case a trip to Amsterdam doesn't hold enough thrills, now you can throw a hot hatch into the mix as well. Scope out the press release (in Dutch - isn't that weird?) below.
Ford decides C-Max shoppers not interested in fuel economy
Sat, Oct 25 2014If you say a car – the Ford C-Max Hybrid, for example – is "fun to drive," can anyone really come up with some empirical evidence against your claim? What about calling it "versatile"? We wonder if Ford has been thinking along these lines when it talks about the green little hatch. Ford is refocusing its sales strategy for the C-Max Hybrid after the model took a sales hit on both sides of the Atlantic recently, Automotive News reports. That sales dropoff may stem from the fact that Ford has had to revise its fuel-economy figures downward for the C-Max twice since last year, most recently in June. That made the company's once-proud fuel-economy comparisons with the Toyota Prius kind of pointless. Ford is going a different route, calling the model versatile (which, to be fair it was also doing a year ago), technologically advanced and fun to drive. Since the C-Max has about 50 more horsepower than the Prius, that last part may be true. Ford representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen about the mpg-mention-free advertising direction, but we will update this post if we hear back. Sales of the C-Max Hybrid have suffered in the US. Through September, Ford sold 15,245 C-Max Hybrids, down 36 percent from last year. We shall see if a new focus away from the car's lowered mpg numbers helps. At least Ford can be pleased with sales of the C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid, which are up 51 percent compared to 2013.
